  1. It's great for a 3D game.. and the music pretty much owns. You'd do better with symphony of the night for PS1 though.
  2. Most everyone refers to them as "airmechs" for short though (at least, Michael Mulvilhill, who worked for FASA at the last tournament I went to did) there are 3 classes of airmech: Stinger (30 tons) Wasp (30 tons) Phoenix Hawk (50 tons) The wasp armaments did not change, while the Stinger packed 3 medium lasers (as opposed to the single MedLas and 2 MGs the regular version packed). The phoenix hawk's armament did not change either, although the tech readout stated that the model of Large laser it used was considerably more unreliable over the model the standard mech used) The extra weight of the LAMS accounts for their conversion equipment. It is possible that the weight of the Singer and Wasp airmechs was 25 tons, but for some reason I recall it being 30 tons... I'm too lazy to drag out my 3025 tech readout to check. One of the main reasons why the airmechs were considered level 3 rules instead of tournament based lev.2 is because they recieve almost triple the jumping distance as a standard model, and it won't cause heat. In most cases this can effectively remove you from a conflict if need be. Also the ability to convert and then strafe the playing field as a fighter adds to it. As much as I loved my Phoenix Hawk Airmech, I only really used it when we played Mechwarrior (as my storyline mech), because it SERVERELY unbalances a standard tabletop Battletech game. And even in MW, the game master was constantly throwing heavy and assault opponents against me in an attempt to even things out.
  3. lol, funny.... but I still think I prefer "All your base.."
  4. Yeah, it makes me wonder just how many lives HG has screwed up forever.... (40 years later) 60 year old RT Fan: "Well, HG is still talking about it, maybe we'll see it by the end of this year! (2044)" I'm officially labelling their new series as "Vaporware"... at least until I see more on it.
  5. Dude! You just........ suck. That's completely unfair, there's people (like me) who've been pining for AGES for an affordable GBP set in that condition (although, i'd prefer mine WITH the arm parts). I'm more than a little jealous! Now I need to find someone from Hong Kong or Japan and date them.... just so I can raid their older brother's collections!
  6. The air-mech versions were capable of all three modes. It just wasn't represented in the miniatures.
  7. It's a fair assumption that the remains of the Daedelus and Prometheus were probably salvaged and melted down to scrap metal for other projects. It seems anti-progressive to leave either of the supercarriers dead and trashed in the water. Then again, who knows? That has to be one deep lake to keep the Macross supported. I suppose they could be down there somewhere.
  8. VF-X2 kicked ass..... it was everything VF-X should've been and much more. the DYRL side-scroller was also very nicely done... and it gets extra props for sticking as close to the movie as it did. (only one or two parts that weren't in the movie, and they were applied tastefully) Future PS2 games would be great to see, I hope Bandai follows through with the idea.
  9. Yeah, I know... I was really anxious to use that particular miniature as my personal mech though, so I built it. Oh well, it means more to me built than it ever did on the card.
  10. I'm wishing I had never opened my "Cresent Hawks Inception" version of the Phoenix Hawk Airmech... I could probably get a fair price for it. I need to sell these, I don't have any space for them anymore
  11. wow, I am all over this.... I'm gonna play it straight through from the beginning. I've already beaten a couple of stages (haven't had much time to play), but already I think the remixed tunes kick ass. So let me see if I have this straight... when you beat a stage it unlocks the remix tune for the next stage it's reccomended to go to? I beat Cutman (regular music) and of course went straight to Elecman, and the tune was the remixed version. After that I tried Iceman (who was the one I usually went after next) and it was back to the regular tune, but if I went to Gutman, it was remixed... strange.
  12. what ARE you talking about??? That comment makes no sense.
  13. I remember seeing an F-14 kit for "SuperCarrier"... surprisingly enough, I seem to recall it being from the "Tophatters" squadron which served on the JFK in the mid-late 80s (along with the "swordsmen"). At least the markings were accurate I guess. Ha! I shall not stop my search until I find those episodes somewhere....
  14. I have 2. 1 Takatoku Max 1 Taiwanese VF-1S Bootleg
  15. errr, Headshots were completely random in battletech, regardless of the mech. The chances were the same with every design. Perhaps that is a flaw in the game, but nevertheless by Level 2 Tournament rules you have just as much chance of landing a headshot on a Battlemaster as you do on a Clint, or Catapult.
  16. I completely remember that.... the height of retardedness, but incredibly funny all at once.
  17. "Iron Eagle" used Israeli air force F-16s (and some how tried to pass of Mirage fighters as MiGs??? Top Gun was just as guilty of that only it was F-5s) the USAF took one good look at the script and said "hell noooooooo" If that weren't bad enough, they used the same footage in "Iron Eagle 2" (and if you REALLY wanna go low class, watch "Flight of Black Angel", which prominently displays a tomcat on the cover, yet features Iron Eagle footage in the movie)
  18. lol, I can find a bio on virtually every actor that was in the series (aired in 1988), but next to NOTHING on the series itself... lol, looks like a whopping EIGHT episodes made it out before it got cut....
  19. lol, Gaijin, what would I have to do to get a copy of those tapes? It sucks that the show got cancelled for that reason.... as if the military never heard of anything called "fiction" before.... A funny thing is if I remember correctly, the carrier was "supposed" to be nuclear... so using a steamer makes it all the more funny. The JFK was either the last or the second to last steamer before the Nimitz came out... I think.
  20. the show was called "Super Carrier" (I think) I forget what station it was on, but from what I remember it was pretty kick ass. "a" super carrier (don't remember the ship itself) and the trials and tribulations of it's crew and flight wing. I remember it being pretty cool. The only episode I recall is where one of the F-14s (I believe the pilot and RIO were two of the main characters) encounters a stray MiG pilot that wants to defect. Obviously he has no arrester hook, but through judicious use of a swimsuit issue picture and a sharpie marker, the RIO of the F-14 is able to get the pilot to understand that they can take him in the net on deck. I remember nothing beyond that. Anyone remember anything else? Episodes online somewhere maybe?
  21. man, it sounds like GC owners got raped on this one... Glad I own a PS2, now off to buy it!
  22. Other Macross-style miniatures: (God, my camera SUCKED!)
  23. that's because they ARE the ral-partha figures. I've got quite a few of these... painted and assembled. I tried to sell them a while back, but no one was buying. I've got more than what's in the picture, but I wanted to give some examples of OTHER miniatures similar to Macross
  24. I hate to say it, but you're probably out of luck.... Good MIDI files from most things Macross are an extreme rarity. I haven't heard anything on Keith's list, but the last time I looked for SDF: Macross MIDIs (which, to be fair, was over 5 years ago), there was NOTHING. I remember finding one or two, but they weren't any good. There seemed to be an abundance of MIDIs from the PCE Macross games though (which one or two good tunes did exist for)
  25. It's entirely propable that they do. It's been a few months since I've looked at it, don't really keep up on it! Mellow: I was referring to games that have already been established, and I acknowledged that they DO happen, they're just really rare (to be free and actually WORTH playing)
