  1. i saw this SCAR weapons system demonstrated on gunny's show "mail call".the tech went through all the possible combos & uses for this weapon & i was highly impressed with it's versatility.the materials used in it's components were made to take abuse, mistreatment & dirt & mud like an AK & still work w/o issues for it's service life.i was under the impression all branches of armed forces were adopting this,i'd not heard the army was still pushing to have the xm-8.it would just be smarter to standardize arms w/ a system like the SCAR.it would save alot of $ & still be able to meet the differing needs of the miltiary branches.i would normally be for the ability to get different arms to meet your needs, but the SCAR seems to work w/ it's many configurations.issue these exclusively to the troops, but still allow special forces, seals, recon, etc to select whatever they want for their missions.it'll save $ & keep the bad-ass black ops guys unrestricted to their arsenal.just my $0.02 :)

  2. when i was in the market for 1 of these,i inquired w/ noel from blackaces if he could help me out.i was buying some other things from him already & just asked offhandedly if he could help me there too.i'm glad i did, cause he had 1 w/ an imperfect box that he was just storing & he cut me a deal on it.shoot him a pm dude, you might get lucky too :)

  3. i have a few pieces laying around that are looking for a new home.i have a right & left boosters in great shape, but both are missing the booster nozzels & the cups they sit in.i do have 1 of the black nozzels, but none of the cups that they sit in.if your interested,pm me & i'll post up some pics if you like.i have some spare jetfire heads also,if you need some of those :)

  4. what's up chi-ho(wabbit)

dude,i think you have alot of valid points with this.this is a macross only site, that means the subject material is bound to repeat.that's just simple logic.new folks here will never stop being a nOOb unless they learn about the various macross series, toys etc.longterm, old school members shouldn't bash them or rudely belittle their inquiries w/ a "look in this thread for the 1000th time" or other such responses.those of us who are veterans here have to act as good hosts.come on,that's why we're so cool to begin with,so it'd be ashame to see that perception changing after all these years here.cool begets cool man.a few years ago when i was a nOOb here,i was lucky enough to have nothing but positive experiences w/ the vets & even found them eager to befriend a new guy like me.if i'd had a more negative experience,i'd most likely be long gone.in the past everyone always knew us as the cool group.treating new folks badly just makes you look like a tool.

  5. hmm,my dad was in 'nam for 2 tours.1967 w/ the 101st airbourne & 1968 w/ the 82nd.he said he never had 1 issue w/ his M-16 that he was issued there.no jamming,no missfires, nothing.he never said anything about noisey sling hardware either.he knew a few guys that had jams w/ theirs, but he noticed that only happened to those who didn't clean them like they should.i just can't imagine sling hardware making enough noise to be heard over say.......ma-deuce ammo slung on your chest.what about the rest of your web-gear? wouldn't that be louder than sling clips? were the noise complaints mostly from SOG groups or SEAL teams were silence was crutial?

if your in the bad-bush on patrol, your rifle wouldn't be hanging at a relaxed stance on your shoulder,it'd be cocked & locked to keep your ass alive.wrapping the sling around your arm & keeping a little tension on it while on your sweep would keep any metal silent.if your squad got rolled-on by Charlie while on patrol,it wasn't your sling hardware that gave you away,it was most likely his spies that told him were your patrol would be.my dad noticed that when he'd deliberately "get lost" or deviate slightly from the map coordinates they were given, the ambushes decreased by like %50.started to catch Charlie w/ his pants down alot more too.

in vietnam, playing it by the book got you killed.adapting in the field to what the battlefield dictated kept you alive.noisy slings or not

  6. chowser,

i really love these new SA XD pistols.i'm not sure if the grip safety works exactly the same as the 1911,cause i've never shot 1 of those.i've held 1 a long, long time ago,but i can't remember what that grip safety even looked like.

my SA actually has no push button safety on it at all.the grip safety has to be depressed at the same time as the trigger & secondary safety directly beside the trigger.when all 3 are depressed, only then will the gun discharge.i feel this actually gives you an enormous amount of control over the weapon.some have argued that it would be too complicated in a high-stress tactical situation, but i disagree.this thing would be an advantage i think cause, you have no button safety to fumble with.it's ready to go when you are.i've noticed that i have adapted my carry style w/ this weapon as well.i hold it with my trigger finger on the outside of the trigger guard at all times until i'm ready to discharge it at a target.i didn't realize i had started to do this until i noticed 1 day that i was holding it that way even when i was dissassembling it for cleaning.it just seems to be real easy to adapt very quickly to this very different type of pistol/safety system.

  7. man, nice HK's chowser.i'm considering getting a stainless slide for my SA XD-9.i love the 2-tone look & living just a few miles from a saltwater ocean kinda makes it practical for me too.i've noticed very small areas on my black slide want to start rusting a little too soon for as new as this baby is.i've started to clean it on a more frequent basis as a result.

  8. the next logical choice for you my friend has got to be "do you remember love" .the movie is just sooooo awsome even 20 years later.you can get a good bootleg copy from hong kong for around $15 (get the orange cover/FX version).sdf-macross is definately worth the $,but look around alot before you buy,you could get lucky & pick it up cheap on ebay or something.macross zero is also a very cost-effective way to see some more macross.i got mine shipped from hong kong for $11 each dvd.

give macross 7 a chance.a friend graciously loaned me his dvd's of this series & i'm glad he did.it's a great series.it just drags a little until the 10th episode.you have to just grin & bear it till then, cause after episode 10,you'll get addicted & won't be able to wait to see the next episode.definately give it a try too :)

  9. hey man, don't piss in our cheerios dude :p kawamori will leave us a written document answering all questions upon his final moments on this earth.......right? that's gonna happen....isn't it? i hope it doesn't say "haha got you fanboys!!!!" :p

  10. yeah chowser, you've always been able to buy an automatic weapon(especially if you are a policeman or government agent),the ban didn't affect that.you just had to go to a class 3 gun dealer & pay major coin & do major paper work to get your ar-15 or mp-5.the ban just affected certain aspects of popular "assault weapons".no bayonet mounts, high capacity mags, they didn't like pistol grips for some reason either.the ban seem to be really singling out the AK-47,but it doesn't state that exactly.the rules for owning a "legal" AK were just dumb.changed stocks, grips & no bayonet lug didn't make an already non-automatic rifle any less lethal.just made it look funny.my dad faced kalishnikovs in the jungle of vietnam & i'm really after that exact particular model cause of it's roll that it played in that part of history.they look pretty cool hanging on the wall with that bayonet fixed too

  11. actually, yeah,i sleep with my springfield armories XD-9MM under a pillow on the far side of my bed.it's at a perfect arm length's reach should a situation arrise.remove out of sight when you have honeys over for a sleep over though.a gun under their pillow tends not to sit right with them for some reason

  12. wow, nice joke machine jung.i love the way the paint turned out on it.i don't think i've ever seen a weathered joke machine :o kinda adds some seriousness to an other wise "joke" of a machine. :p

  13. well,mac7 has elements from plus,DYRL? & SDF.it's kinda like a big family reunion for macross.and,i agree with others opinoins of this series here,it's great after the 10th episode.kinda drags before then, but i'll have to say i'm quite addicted to seeing the next episode now.hmph, who'd of thunk it? -_-

  14. i see no reason to make this "overly sensitive land" either.agent one's got it right, don't be a girlie-man.stop being offended by every little thing that comes across your field of vision.toughen up!!!!! build up a callous man,get leathery,do what you have to do,but stop being so offended by someone else.i'm not bothered by anyone's sig or statements made in some random thread here.i'm tough,i eat nails for breakfast,so bring on your politcally slanted sig!!!!!
