  1. I guess I'll be throwing more putty onto the head to get rid of those arrows.

    Thanks

Overspray is my worst enemy! Sometimes, I don't even know why I bother masking :(

And Datterboy, Don't mean to hijack your thread. Just seems like an appropriate place to ask questions. I am interested in seeing your work when your done.

  2. Nice! I'm looking for some display cabinets myself. It looks like I'm going to end up spending around 400$ buck to get what I want. You got a great deal! I really like how it almost fills up the entire wall. The movie book poster looks pretty cool hangin above the wall aswell.

  3. Hey I've got a couple of questions about Max's color scheme.

1.) The circles on the legs are what color?

2.) The arrows on the head are green?

3.) The sensors on the side of the intakes are totally blue or blue and white?

(the pics of the 1/48 look totally blue but I can't tell for sure)

4.) Only the tips of the tailfins are blue, not the tips of the wings, correct?

    Thanks

  4. Thanks For the input. I'm going to be making a trip to the hobby store tommorow and see what they've got.

I don't see how my question is not relevant to this forum. Since, Tamiya paint is a hot brand when it comes to macross models. I got the best of the best answering my questions in here ;)

  5. I know this question has been asked a million times. but please bare with me and help me out. I'm doing a custom 1/60. I've used a Tamiya primer for plastic and metal(which seems to be holding well) also I have Tamiya acrylics on top. But what to use for clear coat? I was going to use future until I read the Future topic. May cause yellowing :( . H'mm I'll stay away from that. I've also used testors before. That stuff yellowed bad. Does Tamiya make a clear coat? What else is out there?

    Thanks

  6. For me it started in 1992! I started seeing old bandai 1/72 models pop up at this shop in Athens. I think I droped 75$ a piece on them. That started a mission of finding as many valks as I could. All I could get my hands on were the models and a Gakken Legioss. After awhile I got discouraged and said forget about it.

About two years ago I was at a friends house who has an amazing Star Wars collection. I rememember think "This guys a freak, He spends all his money on TOYs!". Needless to say a month later I found out about Yamato and the rest is history.

  7. Thanks for the tips guys. I've been painting and sanding all day. The top half of the valks is almost done. The legs are still apart and soaking in pinesol. Another question! As far as clear coats go what do you guys use.

I've been using Tamiya Acrylics and Primer I don't want any thing to conflict with the coats. The last times I used a clear coat I used testors. The valk turned yellow within in a month. What's the opinion on using future as a clear coat? Will it yellow over time?

  8. I know it's a long shot but I'd like to see another story that takes place during SW1. The story would of course have all new characters, Maybe a new squadron of destroid pilots. The story should flow through SW1 like we know it. A redone battle on Mars from a destroid pilots view would be awsome. We could see all new animation of the mecha we love. Plus we could get some cameos from all of our favorites.

Either that or a series about all out war. No singing valks or popstars. Even though Music plays a major role within the Macross universe, I'd like to see it kept to a minimum.

  9. I just got started on M7 myself. I almost stopped before I finished the first disk. Things do start to pick up. I've started enjoying it and even found myself singing Planet Dance. However, For me, It by no means compares to SDF Macross or DYRL. Plus the pink valkyrie drives me nuts!

  10. Thanks!

I was a little confused. I thought the pinesol and soap was only for the die-cast parts. I wasn't sure if fluid would dissolve any of the plastic parts.

The valk is sitting in pieces all over my desk right now! The landing bay doors were giving me a hard time. I used a screw driver to pop them out and broke one of the steel hinges. I don't think it' that big of a deal though the door still seems to operate fine. Another Hard part was the nose cone. That single screw inside the tip of the nose had me going for an hour. Is there anyway to get the very tip of the nose off? It looks like it may be glued on.

And by the way, very nice custom work on the low-viz!

Ahh! More love for the 1/60's.

I'm so glad Yamato decided to do this in 1/60 scale. I have much love for the 1/48, but I want I complete line of valks. I think I'll spend the rest of the night playing with them!

However, I do Hope those hands disapear!

i can live with the hands. the fact that they are making it is great enough! hopefully, the way it attaches will allow the Super -1J's or even the non-FP DYRL valks to accept the armor.....

    ...either way, it looks awesome.

As long as the forarms will except the older hands I'm all for it! I do think Yamato will redo the hands. It is only a prototype. I was afraid that the 1/60 VF series was finished. I'm so grateful for the chance to own a GBP-1S That looks decent! As for the FP'd Hikaru, Max, and the Cannon Fodder. Yamato, I'm still waiting on those!
