Sorry to quote myself, but maybe this will get Spyke's attention and/or that of someone else conversant in Japanese. I just looked at a different version which is subtitled in either Chinese or Japanese (probably the former since I don't see any kana in the subs), and it has "ASSU" instead of "ASS-1". And in fact it sounds like Aries is saying "ASS-U". Is that how "ASS-1" is pronounced in Japanese? Or could this be an alternate code for the AFOS? Again, all the context points to the discussion being about the AFOS. We see blood samples being collected from it, centrifuged, and analyzed, then a shot of the AFOS while the scientists identify the flood as being type "Alpha Bombay". Finally, we see Aries talking to them by radio. I gonna go watch it again and check, but as far as I know, ASS-1 doesn't run on blood... though that just may be a well kept secret SDF-1 POWERED BY ALPHA BOMBAY!!! aaanyway, maybe she said AFOS, which is pronounced in japanese "A-FO-SU". Usually acronyms like ASS-1 get sounded out as they are in English, "A S S Wan".

This is why I gave up fansubbing.

I did that with Medal of Honor when it first came out! My friend and I used to hide on the second floor of an abandoned house armed with bazookas. Anytime a german would try to cross the firing line he'd eat a rocket. And when they tried to sneak into the house and shoot us in the back, we'd always have a man waiting at the ladder chucking grenades down everytime someone would pop his head up. People hated us for that

I started on monk, and it's kind of a shame as it seems that monk sub is only good for warrior. I want to work towards Ninja/Monk in the end I suppose, but I'll toy with every single class. I just need to wait for people to catch up so we can go for the advance jobs as a party instead of one man trying to bum rush his way in and getting slaughtered. So far, my official tally solo: Class - Deaths attempting to obtain flag Dark Knight - 0 Ranger - 1 Paladin - 1 Summoner - 2 Ninja - 1 For the record, I had 2 level 60 paladins help me through the ninja quest and I still got killed. I fear dragoon and samurai.
-
Woot. Picked up the ranger class last night. A little ridiculous that some of these advance job quests are absolute death at level 30, and others like the ranger is just walk in and walk out.

Look what happened to Guld................... If those weren't effects of extreme inertia, I don't know what is.

Or maybe he's squeezing the wrong area... <_

I think you'e being a little hard on the U.N. Navy. First that lab that they're keeping the "Birdman" in looks huge and probably takes up a good portion of the hanger deck, so maybe instead of a full air wing you can only carry a squadron of VF-0s, some UCAVs and the other aircraft you need to keep a arrier going (S-3s, SH-60s, E-2s etc.) Second you have to remeber that Earth has been at war for almost a decade whish causes problems, almost constant use of ships for one. Question: In the first episode we see that the Anti-UN is using MiGs in concert with they're SV-51s, do they continue that, Basiaclly using MiGs as cannon fodder to draw off defenders before attaxking with the SV-51s? And do you think the U.N. continues the use of convetinal aircraft with the VF-0s, obvioulsy they do in other parts of the world because there are no VF-0s, but what about in the Islands where the series takes place? Probably not as the ASKA was the latest and greatest. Remember the last carrier that was in the area with conventional weaponry was blown right out of the water (ep1). Secondly you have to remember than the VF-0 fleet itself was rushed into production and consisted of a small number; only 30 or some planes. Then you figure DD and Nora probably killed a whole grip of them in the first two episodes so basically you have anything remaining to defend the fleet. Focker's about the only guy able to compete with Nora and DD, but they've got him suited up in the Armor, so basically everything else that the UN sent up was flying cattle. It was also the anti-UN who first had posession of the variable fighter technology, so there's no surprise that their ships and pilots are better. It's assumed that while DD took on the destroids, Nora blasted them out of the sky. Then there's an unwritten rule somewhere that a destroid will NEVER be a match for a variable fighter and that any unmanned fighters called "GHOSTS" will always be shot down no matter what.

It's kind of a shame that we're all on different servers. Not dissing the worldpass thing, but it really can be a bummer. Too bad the whole system doesn't exist on one world. That would be crazy )) Do other mmo's have the same system as ff11?
-
Erg... It took me long enough to get where I am (lvl 11 war, lvl 6 mnk) I don't need to start fresh on another server Hm. I could start another character though. I've been thinking about starting a female something... just for the fun of it Vostok 7 I believe the emigration takes you over there in complete state. No loss of levels, etc. Gotta read up on it though. Too bad you can't select green hair
-
Ah come on! If you were all by yourself you should've accepted that world pass. I'm a lv13 War, lv6 Thf. I usually only play on weekends.... and now.... i can't play at all. heh, well not really. just in terms of MW people :/ We should all emigrate to Asura! Hope you get a video card soon. I get so stressed out at work, I think I'd die if I couldn't come home to the compy and pop off a few vritual 3d baddies.

Hee hee, lonely me all by myself on Lakshmi. How you guys doing so far? Mnk 30, War 5, Thf 15, Nin 4 right now.

This could potentialy be kind of cool because it goes back to the grassroots theme of "just go out there and kick ass", but given LA's history with starwars games (xwing and tiefighter excluded) I'm not gonna be holding my breath.
-
True that! I for one think you guys have outdone yourselves. Your Macross Zero Vol. 2 release blew the ANBU/AONE release out of the water and thanks to the SUPERB quality of Vol. 3 I'm not even going to waste my bandwidth on any other Fansubber's releases. Thanks Spike, and the rest of your crew. thanks for the props yo wish up mad luck on eps 4 ... BTW i asked the translator he said the ending titles were right .... that or our after effects guy messedup but all wells. it's all good ^^ der the signs were t/l right but the typesetter put them int eh wrong places lol all well. look foward to a rredone eps 1 and 3 soon ^^ Might wanna change some of the goofy wording from ep2 as well. In my 22 years on this earth (23 shortly), I can honestly say I've never heard anyone say "half-dead prick".

Those cylindrical things on the chest are probably the same thing that the 19 has in the same area.

I liked the way Kakizaki died in dyrl

Hmm, I didn't see any "alien" hieroglyphics in the end credits (I assume that's what you mean). I did see some Korean names mentioned in the credits. There was also the song lyrics in the subtitles for the closing the song in Japanese, Romaji and English. No "alien" looking language though. It is at the beginning when the movie starts, "infusion" has put their credits there including who the translator was , etc. You will see some hierglyphic writing just under the English names. At the endof the movie, the translation was on the wrong frame I think. (See my previous post on this thread). Got a screen shot?

I don't mind. My wallet could seriously use a break.

Because, that's what Japanese kids do to unsuspecting English teachers... Popularly known as the Kanchou, which means enema (Or Captain, or spy, depending on your definition). I guess it's a Japanese thing. I call it the "rear admiral"

Heh, Kawamori seems to be hell-bent on keeping these things in Gerwalk for the duration of the series Nice little flip kick there. On another note however, poor Destroid pilots. They seem to have more mobility than they ever had in Macross DYRL/TV and they still get their asses beat.

yes, 1/48 mac+ valks would be enormously huge. werd up to that!
-
Regardless of how comprehensive it appears to be, the Compendium isn't an official site and thus it can't be treated as one. It's as close as you'll get to one. The official Macross site doesn't have anything at all.

What's wrong with my Yamato, Bandai, etc.
