1. I don't even have enough time in my life to do my minmay guard custom 1/48 valk. Hopefully the creators of that monstrosity are getting like, college credits for what they built. If not then they must either be rich with too much time on their hands or really poor... with too much time on their hands.

  2. I know how you feel about the 1/60. Every post I read in the past, you always supported with clear and true intentions your sayings ;)

My reply wasn't intended to respond to your post. I always care about the aesthetics of the toy and am very anal regarding the lineart. I never received a 1/60 lemon and i'm quite aware off it's limitations, but I feel that it represents very closely what i see in in the anime.

You are so true about the 1/60 VF-1S head, it's an ABOMINATION!!! I'll never get used to it. That's why my favorite 1/48 is Roy's VF-1S with GBP armor on it :)

And I don't want to start comparing the 1/60 Fast Packs vs the 1/48 ones...

It's like I said earlier, it's a win win situation for me and the 1/60 line is the most complete out there.

Just a few pics of the 1/60 line (max Q-Rau is missing)

That's a bad ASS collection you've got there! Very nice.

  3. Finally got to play around with my newly arrived VF-0S. Transformation while similar to the VF-1, but some areas seem less straight forward to figure out. Funny that the instruction left out a couple tricky areas (like the bottom hinge of the backpack to lift it so the back pack sits closer to the back of the Battlroid mode,

Dude they did. Page 16, item 13, side picture.

and the way to close the nose cone cover when storing the leg sway bar). Need to really take my time to figure out how to get those right, without forcing any fieces too much and snap it off.

They did again, page 15, item 12. :p

QC-wise, mine is pretty good overall. But I do find both upper arm swivel and knee swivel all pretty loose. I fixed them by looping those swivel joints a couple times with dental floss. If you do it right, you can hide the floss pretty good inside the gap with an Xacto knive. Just be careful when cutting the floss and pushing it in without scraping the plastic. Now they are nice and tight, with a bit of cushiony feel. One of the head cannon is looser, but not enough to cause an issue. All the other ball joints, ratchet and wings are nice and solid.

Genius. Keeps the valk minty fresh too.

Hey - is using nail polish better, or using dental floss and the like?

I'm gonna try it with that plumbing tape (the one u use to wrap around water pipe joints) which is soft and discreet.

  4. I just got mine in the mail today. Unfortunately the joints are weak... sorta' feels like a really light version of a "masterpiece collection" toy. Also, that piece that is supposed to fold up to cover the rear "back thrusters" I guess you'd call it (the piece that flips over the top in Gerwalk mode) broke off already. Which is odd. First time I've ever had anything break off a Yamato before. I'm also not so sure I'm digging how they did the feet on this thing. Really flimsy. Basically the whole toy feels really flimsy. BUT, despite those downfalls, it's gorgeous. I luv it! I got the thing not to play with, but to display, so I could care less about the problems. Not like I'm gonna' buy one of these for my kid to play with.

I also noticed on the sticker sheet, the pilot name for a certain Shin character... which means I WILL be getting my beloved VF-0A!!!!! *cough* which I'm kind of happy about.

  5. the Hase model is definitely better looking by miles. as for poseability i think it's on par with the toy.

Oops!!! Here is the hasegawa again. Tempted to get it but I'll wait for the Yamato one :p

Well. It may not be what's coming in the mail... eventually. BUT - the Hasegawa model does look damned good. I hope my Yamato looks as nice.

Am I the only person out there who's anxious to see a toy/model of the VF0A and not just the VF0S? I love the blue color on the A, plus the head just looks better than the S. Of course, that's just MY opinion, and I will admit to feeling partial to anything good ole' Roy Focker/Fokker/Fo-however the hell you spell it pilots. But I still think the A looks cooler. :D

I want one. Freaking A' do I have any gas money left?

  6. Strider --- your quote is from a damned good movie.

Why were there pics posted from a VF0 model kit???... I may be anxious (a little) to finally get what I paid for like two months ago but I could care less about hasegawa pictures. That is, until the day I start building those things. Which leads me to ask. What's cheaper --- Yamato 1/48 and the like, or hasegawa model kits?

  8. I JUST BOUGHT A YAMATO YF-19 OFF OF EBAY FOR 50 BUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're freaking lucky. I never find the good deals!!!!!!!!! I love Macross Plus, especially since MY last name is Dyson, so naturally I really like Isamu. But I've decided to hold out on buying any Macross Plus toys until Yamato decides to make one at least as big as a 1/48 scale valk. Then I'll find a way to bleed out THAT money too.

  9. If you wanna' make up for no VF-Zero, see if you can find any cool Art Of War Berserk figurines/toys. Those things are hell to come by in the states. It's as expensive as collecting this Yamato crack.

For anyone who knows what I might be talking about, --- I paid 600 dollars on Ebay for a 12 inch long PVC poseable Zodd. (with the wings)

  10. :D it's good to know that i'm not the only MWer who has a serious impule control problem when it comes to ordering products.  :D

man if my girlfreind found out !

hell, May is gonna kill my wallet too!  i don't even wanna tell you the massive pre order i made through HLJ( low viz and steath :D )

My wife is so pissed off that she bought me that Robotech series on DVD for my b-day. Money is tighter than ever once I discovered Yamato 1/48....

  11. !!! I wonder when Twin Moon will be shipping???

    Can't wait! Woohoo!

    391761

I too have a twin moons VF0 awaiting my grasp.

    391783

Ditto. I can't wait!! Come on Tam, give us the good news!!! :)

    Chris

    391848

Well, I got an email today from FedEx saying an "Emil Moon" sent me a package. Could this be one of the twins from Twin Moons Anime??? 'Cus I'm not sure who in tha' hell Emil Moon is.

  12. either or is fine by me....i believe its the same.

i honestly think its the colored highlights(red/blue/yellow/etc) that changes the way the eyes view the white.

i know this sounds weird but if you cover the chest plate with your hand and look at the 2 of them, the shade of white is the same.  but if you take your hands away from the chest plate, the shades of white look a little off.

    390357

The eyes play weird games with our sense of perception. The Valk White color is consistent for all 1/48s.

    391089

No, it's not. The DYRL valks' white is not the same as the TV valks white.

    391124

they all look the same to me...

  13. Okay. I took apart a 1/48 yamato vf1j to strip paint off of it. I have a wife and child, I'll mention here. The point is, when I went to put the arms back together, TWO of the arm screws have mysteriously disappeared. (Into the vacuum cleaner I'm reckoning.) Can someone sell me two yamato 1/48 black arm screws? This sucks. God bless whoever can come to my aid!

  14. If the vf0 and Garland wasn't going to be released I may have ended up buying a 1J for the GBP.

    391699

I just bought a vf1j hikaru 'cuz I figured I'd better get one before they're gone for good! Crap. What exactly IS going to be rereleased and how much money will they be???

  15. Usually ebay has a super-abundance of Yamato 1/48 valkyries, but the other night I checked it out and WHOAH! All of the sudden all the valks are getting actually auctioned instead of having set prices, and there was hardly anything there!!! Is ebay running out of yamato dealers? Are the dealers running dry? Or are they just trying to milk us now?
