Thank you @derex3592 and I am glad you like them, I think @spanner will be adding some new phone wallpapers as well.

Those last 2 photos are awesome. I wish Bandai would hurry up and release the other 3 just to see what you do with them.

  3. Looks like NY has started shipping the missile effects set, except for mine. They're asking me to pay a little more for shipping with the usual 'shipment was heavier than expected' reason. <_<

They probably didn't hear about it

That 1 guy handling shipping was too busy packing our other orders. :p

Did they really not list it until yesterday. Glad i didn't stay up preorder night.

They're 3 days late to the party and they seem to be slightly delaying releases recently. :p

So anyone know if we'll get a standard blu-ray/dvd release of the series? The spec eds are too pricey for my wallet (least for a 9 disc set). I'd like to support the official release though the Malaysia bootleg is looking tempting....

You might as well download them instead of buying bootleg DVDs. The outcome is the same but at least those profiting off pirated goods don't get your money.

Erm... not that I'm aware of, at least in the short term.  Mind you, the asking price for the Macross Δ "Special Edition" Blu-rays is only a few bucks more than the average asking price for any given single Blu-ray volume of about $63.50 (US).  The movies average a bit cheaper at around $45 a pop, but all in all these are pretty typical media prices for Japan.  This holds true for all of the Blu-rays, even the ones that are for decades-old shows like the original series or Macross 7, so I wouldn't expect the price to come down much (if at all).

(Also, ixnay on the ootleg-bay... we don't talk about that kind of thing here.)

Why can't we talk about bootleg media when discussions on bootleg merchandise are allowed? :p

Yeah, paypal play it pretty hidden.

There's also another way that you can switch it to alway do that by default but sometimes they CHANGE it for YOU, suppose glitch.  money make bug. lol

Main page (My account - Overview)
Click on the Settings Icon (upper right) to view your Profile
    Go to "Payments" tab
Under My Preapproved Payments (bottom left), click "Manage Pre-Approved Payments"
Click on Set Available Funding Sources
Next to your credit card there should be a link for "Conversion Options". Click on that.
Select Bill me in the currency listed on the seller's invoice.
    Submit and Save changes

This is suppose to save it as your Default,  which you will not have to change or switch every time you need to pay in Yen.  BUT it Glitches here and there:ph34r:

I concur. They somehow defaulted my conversion rate back to Paypal, even after updating it twice. The recent UI change seems to be very 'buggy'.

  8. Do you guys happen to know if the English translations for the Delta blu-rays was seen to have boosted sales enough to warrant further official subtitles for future releases? I'm curious as to what we can expect and I figured you might have some insight since you guys worked on the subs.

On a side note, I actually enjoyed listening about events from a time before the podcasts. It would be nice to have mini-podcasts dedicated to talking about older events.

Looked like it to me, I had 2 in cart before I couldn't checkout with them.

    I guess it wasn't a... mirage.

I bet it sold out as fast at it did because of the high limit.

So I tried something amusing, just to test.  Assuming all the common components of the various VF-31s are the same, and they didn't make each of their feet unique (like the VF-25s were for some reason), it's fun playing around with color matching and seeing if things change.

    For example.

    Original Mirage photo.

    originalmirage.jpg.22f413d179b936f7d710779d6c8b0e15.jpg

Similar Hayate pose, with roughly similar lighting.

    originalhayate.jpg.345f4cf62d97bb58a63ac1dbdbcb4501.jpg

Look what happens if I edit the Mirage photo to match the tint of Hayate's feet.

    coloreditmirage.jpg.c8f80e3becbfe30d5487170f4506d352.jpg

Now, that still isn't the right color, but it's more purple.  I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but it could just be general photographic shenanigans causing the colors.

It's also possible that the red hues were adjusted in the photos, so I don't think the actual item would be that purple.

I think that actually brings up a funny conundrum for BW...

BW:  STAHP, Bootlegger!  You're violating my Macross-IP! Don't do that!

Bootlegger: Yeah, and?  This ain't JPN, you know. We're in CHN, so your IP do diddlysquat here. We heard that that smelly hobo over there holds your Macross-IP outside of JPN.

smelly hobo HG: Yo, BW! Want my help enforcing teh IP over here in CHN?

BW: F-U, you smelly hobo! STOP TOUCHING ME!

HG: good luck storming the castle, then.

    BW: gawdammit!

    :bump:

    ---

Like I said before, it'll be interesting how the IP holders will combat this upcoming bootleg issue.

    :unknw:

 Funny enough, we'd probably say HG deserved it if it were their products being bootlegged.

Not really sure what you're talking about anymore.

There were no bootlegs of Yamato back in the day.  Partially due to Yammie's mostly excellent low pricing that flooded the market and suffocated any chance of any bootlegging.

Most of us got our stuff and we were happy.  Nobody's concerned about bootlegs. Heck! Nobody's really concerned even about even their competition back then from both Toynami and Bandai.

    In contrast,

This upcoming bootleg-issue is now being raised by Arcadia.  They are somehow concerned that their home-market (Japan) will import these upcoming bootlegs.

It tells us that the bootleggers sniffed a good chance to make money out of those Macross-fans being ignored by Arcadia.

This bootlegging issue wouldn't really be a big deal if only Arcadia's satisfying the market (both their home and foreign) like Yamato did back in the day.

Yamato did please the fans but the fans did not please Yamato since many of us put off purchases till they were 50% off during sales. We all know what happened to Yamato and their business model, in combination with the customer base, was definitely not viable. Also, you can't use Yamato's pricing without taking into account inflation and increase in taxes. It's been almost 4 years since they went bust. I also don't think they'd be in trouble if they were relying purely on the Japanese market since they have the option of protecting their IP. It's the international customer base that they're probably afraid of.

  13. 1 hour ago, treatment said:

Well, the fans wants to consume some stuff and are ready and willing to pay for it. In fact, pretty much begging for the stuff.

The "rights-holder" does not offer the stuff and seemingly continually ignoring the fans about it.

    So, then, now what?

Do you expect the fans to just continue to be ignored and just twiddle their thumbs about it?

And when companies like Arcadia do produce something for the fans at a lower quantity and higher prices due to the small market size, the fans complain.  Yamato tried that and it didn't work. Arcadia adjusted the formula but it still doesn't look like it'll work in the long run.

Because if you are a business that takes advantage of low labor rates in a country that doesn't care about your "intellectual property" rights then again, it's on you to calculate the risks involved.

IP protection should go both ways, especially when it comes to media; the rights holders and those who consume the media. Surely the fans have a part to play as well. The onus cannot lie with the licensees/rights holders alone.

  15. 2 hours ago, Slave IV said:

Nothing to argue here and you should do what you do. I'll just say that whatever happens, sombody will still make stuff for us to buy so I'm not too worried about it. I just see it as competition. There is a basic rule in business that asks the question, "is your business easily duplicated?" It's on them to deal with it and we are just part of the market that dictates what the value of anything ends up being.

Why are you not taking intellectual property into account? We're not talking about duplicating a business but duplicating unlicensed products by piggybacking on legitimate investments by the rights holders and licensees. The main reason these toys are so appealing is because they're tied to a media that we're fond of. The media gives these toys value and by stripping away a part of their incentive, you're discouraging the holders and creators of the franchise even if this particular instance doesn't do much damage. I don't know if toys contribute that much to Big West's coffers but that would just make it easier for them to cut off that segment if it's no longer profitable.

That being said, I do understand there's a demand that the rights holders are not fulfilling but I see bootlegs as a short-term fix with long-term effects. There's no stopping bootlegs. We can't even stop piracy.

  16. 52 minutes ago, jenius said:

I largely agree but it's a two way street. When the legitimate producers can't meet demand this is capitalism's expected conclusion. It is much scarier than third party products for the future of our hobby... why invest in new molds when a knock off will rapidly appear? (Though all these molds are not so new). That said, I've been shocked how the Transformers Masterpiece line keeps plodding along though clearly that line has orders of magnitude more demand.

Then the, 'what's next for Arcadia - Bankruptcy' joke is going to be a reality. It'll be worse than how we treated Yamato when they were still around. I wonder if this'll affect future entries into the franchise.
