I missed out on the Angel Bird. I'll have to keep an eye out on Mandarake for it. Hopefully, it doesn't go up in price too much.ย
I see one on eBay
https://www.ebay.com/itm/394434554069Cheaper ($250 shipped before tax):

Got a SMS from DHL saying my Angel Bird will arrive Tuesday.
-
A-E reached out to ask if I want the shipment now. YES, I said.
-
True, any VF-1A/J/S with a 1D head would be a mongrel without the right cockpit, but I'd grab one if a full kit weren't on offer.
-
Has anyone designed a Yamato 1/48-compatible VF-1D head for printing?
-
Since the hardpoint ports are there, what's the chance that someone will offer red, white, and blue painted missiles or super parts on eBay?
Yeah, non-canon, but definitely maximizing the toy's capabilities and maybe making a penny off those with some imagination.

I'm sad to say it was my first middle of the night PO acquisition. I wish I had been in the same position when the Kakizaki VF-1J or VF-1D were up among other DX offerings. ๐
I'm glad I haven't missed a VE-1 or VT-1 yet.

When are folks (in the US, especially) likely to start getting their Angel Bird POs, though?

First batch. They posted an update to their Facebook page asking us to be patient as they are having pandemic difficulty and their factory had a fire
Wow. Well, this IS the God Of Flame.

What batch were you in? 1st? 2nd? 3rd+?

Love that Bishop comes separated like that. ๐

What's wild one just popped up on Ebay with the guy saying he just got his today & didn't like itย
Actually thought it was this guy...

But the box number is wrong, so he's not alone!

The matte metallic red is unexpected, but I like it. To me it looks better than the photoshopped pics they used for PO, and now I'm thinking of putting in an order, but then I remembered ThreeZero is also coming out with a 1/72 VF-1.
But when??? I swear I don't what's happening these days. I still can't get my head around two companies having matching licenses (which the scale and articulation seem to be) with equal world distribution. Unless TZ has to wait for KC to shut down its range first...

Seriously though, I honestly donโt see anyone wanting to KO these things. Too many parts.
Shame. They would sell.
But I do get the ease of KO'ing the 1/55 design. Less parts, to be sure.

These were KOd to death.ย
First release was called โWave 2โ.

Hardy har-har. ๐
But seriously...they seem so easy to KO. If they were a few bucks a piece, I'd actually grab a bunch and laud them for being worth it.
-
Just curious...have there been KOs of Toynami 1:100 releases? I mean the quality is already on par with KOs... ๐
-
My gut says maybe $800 during a 3am PO, but $1k going forward.
-
Apparently, GOF orders are requesting the second payments now, so I guess they will soon ship. I look forward to actual received GOF pics.
-
I still hit thrift shops (not expecting Macross stuff), and sometimes find the odd piece of vinyl I'm after and don't yet have. Finding something makes me feel like I did out of school when I spent hours doing stuff like that. Like a prospector finding a gold nugget.
The internet, eBay especially, only fulfills when you find the odd item mislabeled and you score a bargain that others missed. That's like finding a platinum nugget (not so likely).

I thought God Of Flame was to ship first.

I think everyone here is drooling for the eventual DX YF-21 if and when Bandai will get off their ***** and get it made @scand.
I think I'm gonna wait for that too. I'm a guy who loves the actual IRL plane-based designs, and so skew to VF-1 variants, but I would want a YF-21 in 1:48.
That is, unless I see one of the existing ones for like $10. I can only resist so much.

Yeah. I mean, it's really nice to buy it from US stores, that way we're covered in case there's problem with the items. But then, if we really want to save a few dollars, getting it directly from Japan stores is still the best way to go.
At times I agree with you, in that I love saving enough money at the end of the year that I can actually buy a figure with the difference. However, you can argue that should Macross become popular again, the items could be just as cheap sold here as a result. That's part of why I choose to support shops that carry Macross, and ask buyers to order Macross items when they can. I want the shops to survive, and Macross to get more exposure to other customers.
This was bound to happen...gray market VF's?

Ah yes, I think I saw someone mention this on TFW2005 in their Macross thread. The Lucky Cat line format is that the figure, or components of it (like Voltron), has to fold into cubes and fit into clear plastic cube boxes. If that holds true here, then this VF-1 will break down into several components, or it's small and folds into one. If it does, I fear the wings will be hinged. Looking at the new silhouettes for their Bayverse Prime and Bumblebee, I see added kibble at the edges which hint at hinges for those too.
At first, I was psyched that Valkyrie Factory had a competitor, but it seems this will not fill that role.
I wish. Like I said before, those are so damned cheap in build, that they ought to be found in dollar stores on a regular basis. If so, I'd buy a bunch!
