Heard on a MB Facebook group that even bringing stuff in your luggage can get tariffed if over a certain value. Seems to depend on border agent but also targeting China and Japan incoming flights.

    That sucks.

I think Kawamori has very limited ability to do anything and his involvement is largely collecting a fee to say he is involved.

It's a sad state of affairs, but I'm sure that's true. It's probably also something he'd prefer, if a licensor or related individuals have relations as pleasurable as we do with Bandai.

Frankly, I'd assume our feelings are mostly the same at this point but for the direction of the money.

Arcadia's website has been down for a long time now, so I wouldn't read too much into it. It's probably quicker and easier for them to do updates via social media.

That almost sounds like Y-MSF. (Toho-licensed Godzilla figure producer)

They had a site years ago, and wasn't worth keeping it up, so now they sell stuff as if they were bootlegs via social media despite being above board.

A shame for Arcadia, as even KitzConcept keeps a site up.

It's going to be a very long wait @no3Ljm. Bandai is too busy re-releasing selected umpteen versions of the older renewal valk lineup with a "newer updated look"  and the upcoming Zola Patrol 19.

VF-1 valks are in the backburner for now.

    I don't wanna hear that.

Wasn't the VE-1 supposed to be "close"?

Yeah, Bandai looks like they have basically completely abandoned any product they can't sell overseas.

When I say that in other collecting communities, I get brushback that Bandai markets and sells to Japan, and we in the west are not considered. Yeah, right.

I know that it is not the sleek and elegant profile that we expect of a Kawamori creation, but looking at the above video and seeing all of the various things with it, it appears as if it were made for maximum playability and not design sketch accuracy.  I could see playing the hell out of this thing, whooshing it around my living room and all of the diecast core parts will mean that I don't have to worry about it disintegrating like a popcorn fart in church.  I am warily optimistic and will hopefully be able to secure one for myself, finances willing.

    Twich

I'll have to experience one in hand to know, but the chunkiness screamed 1/55 playability or better. If it meets or exceeds that, then that's its selling point; not its appearance.

Edit: Answered at the top of this page,

1/48 Yammie Stealth Vf-1J and SSP parts for 28k yen

    https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1308385675&ref=list&keyword=1%2F48 yamato&lang=en

(Note:  opened, package heavily damaged / seals and runner parts unused / condition deteriorated due to ageing , making the joints and base more susceptible to damage)

Sorry for those that are in the States that want it, due to you know who screwed up the process.

That's still on my want list, as is that Glaug. Back to back pain there.

    Final Report : Enterprise Leaving Space Dock : NCC-1701...No bloody A, B, C or D! 😂.

Polar Lights 1/1000 TOS Enterprise Space Seed Edition completed. This was a looong build because life interfered over the past year and a half, this kit was old, you can just tell.... it's my least favorite Enterprise design and the fit issues... My goodness. Soooo much putty and sanding to get rid of ALL the seams..thought it would never end... along with other issues that cropped up along the way...stupid clear domes that are now forever rattling around inside the saucer... But anyways!!!... I'm pretty darn happy with the final result. Looks good enough for me to want to display it at work with my other 1/1000 scale ships. Enjoy the pics! Onto the next unfinished kit on the list! 😁

I absolutely love how they've paired them as a kit.

    Definitely worthy of someone's approval...

Haven't you heard? Round 2 has announced plans to re-release the old MPC Black Hole kits. Intention was announced to modify the Cygnus's length to make it more appropriate. I've heard that two kits are necessary to elongate the middle segment to make it more appropriate. Perhaps that's what they have in mind? I managed to get the old V.I.N.CENT kit here in Japan on YAJ for about 8,000 yen several years ago. Now they will re-release the old kit.

Guess you missed my follow-up post. I had really meant completed model (or toy). I can't handle kits anymore beyond a pre-painted snap-together one.

At least something like what Pegasus did with the Paramount '56 War Of The Worlds license. A kit, then a completed model, then a completed lit one, etc.

  10. The most common question I'm hearing now, since this news has seeped into all the different collecting community crevices out there, is whether something already shipped, or shipped on or prior to the 29th, will be subject to those fees.

I keep telling folks if it doesn't hit the USA beforehand, it will. Some think the USPS will look at postmarks and not apply the fees if shipped before, though.

Sorry to hear that. But it has been for sale on the sale section of this forum for almost three months 😞

     Must have missed it!

In any case, if you want, i still have a Yamato VF-1A 1/48 low vis 2.0 camouflage for sale.

Thanks, interested, but trying to finish off my woodland camo 1A first. ;)

If you want, I think I still have a second Woodland Camo GBP armor set somewhere in my storage. I'll have to go look for it.

Well, if you run across it...let me know.

I just sold my Camo GBP to another collector who never owned a Yamato GBP armour. The first thing he noticed was the fact that all the missiles were removable, unlike the new Bandai. This is a detail a really miss from the Yamatos.

Damn. Been looking for that for a long while; even on here.

This leads me to question the use of plastic parts in the joints at particularly high-stress points: many of them are supporting quite a bit of mass/ weight or are under considerable tension/ strain when moved.

As for the dyes being used on plastics: it depends upon the dye and the process. Some dyes can inherently weaken the plastic based on their composition, while heat and other processes can disrupt the polymerization chains in the plastics. Even dye concentration in the wrong amount can be an issue, as dyes are a chemical and plastic is a complex mix of chemicals based on the polymerization of petroleum products.

For any dye attempt, I would recommend trying to test it first to see if it will create an issue later on.

Sadly, for me, I have the one VF-1J to commit, and Carpal Tunnel to boot, so I won't be the one to try.

I had been in contact with the guy who did that fab DX VF-1S Jetfire custom to hire him to do that 1J reissue up as AXOID, and he was the one to state the joints (some of which are exposed) won't take paint, and will basically ruin the appearance. That is, unless dye was used for those parts, and he had yet to ever try that on a custom. So, here I am.

  14. 1 hour ago, David Hingtgen said:

Knowing Bandai's love of hollow expanding pins in their joints, I imagine almost all DX's have some degree of cracking (even on a microscopic level), and dyes will immediately soak in and make the cracks more visible.  (and possibly exacerbate/weaken them).

Well, if the dye is darkening it (white or grey to maroon), I'd imagine it would pass. Dye weakening nylon is new to me though. It does that?

1 hour ago, Big s said:

I have heard of dyes working, but sometimes having a bleeding affect on lighter colored parts around them

Again, in my case, it would be a light grey turned maroon surrounded by either the same color or black parts. I think we're good if dyeing would work.

Anyhow, if anyone here has done it to Bandai nylon parts, I'd love to hear about it!

  15. Interesting. In looking at the different sellers selling Valkyrie Factory stuff on AliEx at the moment, the one that still has the clear covers (as well as strike packs) now has a PO up for GITD stickers for the Yamcadia SDF-1 to make it closer to a PF, as well as mini valks and destroids to scale for it. That's irresistible.

I never did buy the VF stuff, but I was thinking about looking for one just to open so I can leave the original as is :D

Same. Valkyrie Factory stuff is the knockoffs rich wives have made of expensive jewelry they keep in the safe at home. 😄

I have the clear set somewhere...I'd just have to dig it out since I never opened it.  Maybe when I'm not as busy lol  But yeah, I have both the v1 and v2 FUGUs and, I like them both.

VF still sells the clear set, and the strike pack too. Makes for good mixing and matching between VF and Fugu releases.
