The YF-29 Alto re-issue and the DX VF-1s are still mostly bare plastic. They haven't painted white any areas that were already white plastic. The matte finish is not a coating, but rather how they textured the plastic.

Also check out the "YOU'RE YELLOW!" thread and you can see examples of even grey plastic turning color, like this.

I see, thanks for the clarification! I was not aware the gray could turn...whatever that is.

It's interesting to see Bandai's different approaches, as the Gundam MBs/GFFMCs I collect often have white paint everywhere. Perhaps their consideration with the DX line is the transformation and paint chipping. That being said, they are never consistent...the recent Metal Robot Spirits TR-1 Hazel has a painted body, but then the Hrududu expansion parts for it are bare plastic....so the color mismatches. Weird.

While I'm a fan of the matte finish, I'm having a hard time justifying getting this considering I have all the Frontier Skull Squadron renewals and their respective super/tornado/armored packs (which MW member wouldn't? Hehe!) Considering also that my Alto has yellowed significantly, I'm afraid to invest in another one which will most likely yellow away too in several years' time. Unless Bandai used a different kind of plastic for this one...

I thought the point of this release is so that the bare plastic is covered with paint, therefore negating the plastic yellowing. At least that's what I like about the YF-29 Alto reissue, and (I think?) what they did with the DX VF-1 releases. But now looking at the WWM VF-25 release, it seems like it's bare plastic with matte coat. Hopefully it is a UV cut matte coat? A Ozma reissue wouldn't have the same issue since the base color is gray, and it's the glossiness that bothers me most.

That explains the brown box for the hi Nu & dynames but which Evas came in brown boxes ? I know some of them did because I have some boxes for The purple  Eva and Red one.

in terms of BBTS shipping . They sent a big box with a small box inside. No bubble wrap between those two. Inside the smaller box was the hi Nu floating around loosely in a bubble wrap sleeve. If I every buy anything from them again I’ll make sure to post pics , I already tore down the bigger box

I think the EVA 2020 versions came with shipper boxes. Normal releases didn't, at least mine.

I recently got the MB Hi-Nu and I would not subscribe to the notion there are quality issues for the line. If you look into this forum's very own MB thread, then most of the complaining pertains to the usual Bandai pre-order shenanigans, scarcity and of course pricing. There isn't much talk about quality issues or decline thereof.

There have definitely been paint issues across the board and with the face markings being slightly off. Their QC has taken a hit and has been reflected by multiple reviewers. One good example is the entire shipment of the MB Red Dragonics had the flight pack lower stabilizer wings all installed inverted so they splay inwards instead of outwards, so Bandai had to do a recall and replace them all, and delaying the entire 2nd batch so they could fix it prior to sending out.

It's not disastrous, but there definitely is a decline in quality as they struggle to keep things going amongst the still draconic covid lock downs in China.

As long as we’re all speculating, Bandai could be saving this so that its release coincides with the WWM release of Macross Plus on blu-ray. Stranger things have happened…:unknw:

Seems like a stretch but I'll be happy if it happens. Cmon Bandai just do it already!!!

I'm seeing constant showcase of the metal structure sazabi out side of Japan like HK, Taiwan, Korea for example.  Seems like a pretty a-hole move especially when they try to limit Japanese retail channels to sell only to local customers, discourage export and having low production run in general.

Oh well, at this point I don't care. If I can find one for reasonable price great, if not then not gonna stress about it. Hobbies are supposed to be fun.
