DYRL VF-1S Max got here today. Well, it was a 1A but I had a S head with blue arrows from another acquisition. And with that the DYRL shelf is looking pretty good! Now to replace the Yamato's with DX's. Yeah, I'm talking to you @RedComet
Hey @RIBFIR ! Wanna show him what a real DX Max 1S looks like? (I am getting mine with weathering next week) And yes sqidd we will DXify your shelf soon

DX SOC is their ultimate, larger versions of classic Super Robots with added details and features.
Yeah, their Voltron is so good I would recommend it to anyone who ever even once caught half an episode of any Voltron series.

I mean the piece on the back of the leg and the arm armor are the same blue-gray. My bet would be on just a different booster design with removable covers.
-
Crazy Theory Time:
The legs armor is designed this way not for the SSP but really for the upcoming TV Super Parts. They will make those covers easily removable, as well as the ones on the boosters. Then they will sell future max and Millia 1Js with just the covers, not the super parts in their entirety. Guess we will see in December when the first TV Supers come out.

If anyone needs Kaki and the SSP and Missiles to go with it, this is not a bad price. You would probably have everything in hand for about $510-530 shipped DHL

Damnit. Just ordered 1. This will be my second 1/48 DX. I haven’t received the one I ordered from Mandarake yet even with DHL it’s been well over a week.
I have ordered DOZENS of things from Japan through DHL since April, and despite occasional delays only ever had 1 SSP get lost (which super sucked). Your odds are really good of it turning up!

I'm already a fan of what's been shown. I'm a battroid guy, so that's how I display all my Macross valks, and honestly, the Yammie YF-21 just didn't do it for me with its super skinny legs. It looks wonky and disproportionate, and that's why it shall remain in its box for perpetuity. It has a gorgeous fighter mode, which I appreciate. But for the next toy, I'd like to see more balance between fighter and battroid, which means, unless they work some crazy origami magic in there, the fighter's going to suffer a little for a better looking battroid. As I said, they could release the proto that they've shown, and I'd be totally down for it. But, I'm willing to give them the time to work out the various challenges to bring it to an equal standing with their YF-19/VF-19 Advance. I hope they can achieve a sleek fighter that transforms into a well-proportioned battroid- best of both worlds.
Well, Bandai is known for having great looking Battroid modes while still keeping good looking fighters. Wanna see some "crazy origami magic" legs? Check out the masterpiece Laserwave and Megatron figures. If Takara can do it, why not Bandai?

Unarmed? Um... Isn't he a head in a jar wired directly into his mobile fortress, and therefore it's armament?
And screw him anyway! He ruined our planet for nothing!
That always confused me. Lets say DYRL fits in the cannon as a movie so the world tour of finding no life doesn't count. Does the Grand Cannon just protect a lot of the Pacific Rim? But the earth is still so ruined that it is pretty much uninhabitable? Is that how they have A) Enough people to fill up these ships in 7 and Frontier B)The need to do so C)All that random stuff from SF and Tokyo to cram in a big space bubble. I know it's off topic, but this has confused me ever since I made it past Plus.

DYRL Final Battle Scene. Who's got pics of their DX posed like this? I've been messing with it for about an hour and I can't cheat the anime magic enough to feel all fuzzy abut it. I can get both hands on the gun pod and really, really close to the pic. But, then the Strike Cannon is not pointed the same direction. The Gun pod has to go across the body at an angle for both hands to reach. Which is actually picture accurate. But then the Strike Cannon isn't pointed the same way. It's bugging me that I can't get that. I'm also curious what you guys did with the legs. The RH leg looks like it's come up and is bent at the knee. I'm not sure what the LH leg ends up doing. I stopped the video at the last second (1:43:39 in the video below) before it cuts to the close up and it's not very telling. Screen shot of last second below. Also video.
Eh, don't let the impossibility of the pose get to you. I always thought all of it was a bit overkill to murder an unarmed old man (albeit a giant one).

Your odds are likely much better than mine. I was in the very first round of POs for Nin-Nin, which had a 10% discount on MSRP. I'd very much like to get my Roy, but I'm not holding my breath. I think there are a few others here in the same boat.
WHAT?!? I honestly didn't think anyone got in on that round, I just figured they set that up as some kind of special employee price did anyone else get it at a discount? (asks the guy who was very happy to get in at $225)

So all this talk about missiles while rewatching SDF Macross got me thinking. The AMM-1 (TV Style) missiles really should have a red tip and rear section, shouldn't they? It appears that way both on screen and in the Macross files. IDK what does everyone else think? Did Bandai and Yamato just skip the extra paint out of stinginess? I am considering painting them. Good idea or bad idea?

There's room in each for some missile parts without adding to the box size. Yamato boxes were always oversized for their contents and is not a good example.
You can properly equip two valkyries with each missile set (one movie and one TV), unless you want some of your guys to have the sad and pathetic layout of one missile cluster and one reaction missile on each wing or something. I'd probably do that for some brownies if those ever materialize.
That's just not acceptable for the hero valks.
Yeah, that's why I was OK with the partial set without micro boxes. I can do a fully outfitted DYRL opening skull squad now since I have 4x yellow reaction type.
-
I know that when I had a shot at the miss Le re-release I got 3 for $55 each shipped. Then picked up a partial set missing the micromissile boxes for cheap. Now I figure I am good to equip the 3 tv releases and my 4 DYRL (including custom Roy and Max) but I am Still tempted to get more

Speaking of Mandarake, this just popped up for those who still haven't scratched that 1J itch. 4万 is not bad https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1118205360&lang=en&ref=mail

Expect any Kakizaki listed on Mandarake to be snatched up almost immediately for the next few weeks at least. It's how it's always been immediately after a DX release. Once the demand has been sated I expect them to linger a bit longer.
Though I'm curious if so many people wanted a Kakizaki why they didn't just order it during the very long preorder period. It's not like they had a 30 second preorder window like the others.
Yeah, and if you lived in Japan it was easy, but most Proxy services maxed out pretty quickly. When I couldn't get one I convinced myself I didn't want one but then when people actually got theirs I couldn't cry "sour grapes" anymore and took the plunge.
-
So I was rewatching DYRL yesterday and noticed something I hadn't before. Right after Hikaru slaps (some sense into?) Minmei who should show up outside the window but apparently Zombie Kakizaki, complete with skull squadron marks on his Super Parts. He is then shot down moments later.
This makes me wonder though, is Kaki in pretty much DYRL CF coloring? How would you go about making a DYRL CF Valk?

Sometimes I forget how posable these figures are. Then I try out a new pose, it actually works, and it makes me smile
-
I have relatively few figures, but even less space, so it runs together at times I like to transform things often and change up the display. I call this The Yellow Corner.

Man, I really wish I had an attic haha. As is I am seriously considering actually throwing out some boxes for DX Valks and my MP Transformers. As is I keep some of them hidden in a corner of a supply closet attached to my classroom but am afraid that some custodian might think they are trash and throw them out haha

Hope he also made a green 1J, or that is an EXPENSIVE non-cannon Hikaru
