Honestly they don’t have too many small parts. The issue I’ve had is that the transformation can be a bit fiddly and sometimes frustrating. I bought two of each so I didn’t have to worry about that though. The figures are definitely more fun on the bikes though
Truthfully, what ride armor you ISN’T a pain to transform?

This will probably be the first KO I grab of the Yamato/Arcadia design.

When reading the reviews, it appears the returns is down to expectation of the amount of metal due to the "Hi-Metal" branding, which, lets be honest, for the casual buyer that has just rekindled some Macross nostalgia, is very miss-leading.
My take, if you consider yourself a fan of macross and want to get into collecting and you don’t use @jenius anymoon.com to educate yourself before making any purchase then it’s your own fault.

I think people are disappointed in how cheap it feels, and maybe what feels like a lack of detail? I don't honestly feel like there's anything wrong with it, but I think part of the issue is that it's got even less metal than the HMR VF-1, so it's very light.
I don't know what people really expected, considering it's a shrunken Arcadia VF-0 model.
Aha. Yeah I’ve steered away from the HMR line (with one exception) though I’ve been tempted a lot to dive into them. I’m all 1/60 except for the DX VF-1J because that’s my favorite VF version.

Sheesh, at that price, I'll take a chance on a second one.
Is there something really wrong with it that I’m missing from prior posts?

I had a friend in high school who drew derivative mecha like that. Very similar proportions.
We weren't impressed with them, either. 😒

i've decided screw it, ima get me one of these. Reissue version has been going for 15,000-20,000 yen on Mandarake recently, so that seems a decent price point to take the plunge, regardless of the potential fit issues.

Not gonna lie, I really like it. Don’t know why I’ve liked these reinterpretations so much but I do.

@sjoebarry - Isn’t that a blatant rip off of the Scout Trooper and the Speeder Bike off Star Wars: RoTJ in psychedelic colours?
It’s a joke pic. It’s the scout trooper with the colors of the MASK figure on a speeder that has that figures vehicle color. The motorcycle that tuned into a helicopter

I just received my copy of this from Mandarake. Comparing to my VF-31AX Mirage Custom, this toy is light years better. The tabs go right in, no trimming needed. The only “thing” is the mini-gun pods not tabbing in all the way and the inherent looseness at the wing roots. I think this is a design flaw and not something that can be fixed. I have just handles it a little, have not transformed it yet. Have to say that my initial impression is a good one.

The upper shoulders/pectoral area with the huge gap between the lower and upper torso area still bugs the snot out of me although is looking good in battroid mode. Hopefully the valk mode formation will be up soon.
I feel like the legs are up way too high. They’re practically in its armpits

gotta be honest, the more i see it, the less i like it.......

Almost. These are barely a head shorter than Yamarcadia's 1:60 VF-1s, and barely a head taller than KitzConcept's 1:72 VF-1s....
I think I see what you mean (from anymoon.com)

20.3cm in battloid is 0.7cm or 1/4 inch shorter than an V2 VF-1 so it’s basically 1/60 scale isn’t it?

Oh man brownie would be awesome. And I can’t say why though but hell yeah. The 171 has always been one of my favorite designs.
