  1. How long did it take to reverse-engineer the OT that was found? Materials science and understanding of quantum mechanics certainly took a couple of orders of magnitude's leap; but how long would that have taken to become anything practical? I recall Star Trek IV when Scotty showed the chemical arrangement of transparent aluminum: "It'll take years to figure out the dynamics of this matrix."

  2. I recall, years ago on this very thread, the one of the Master Files talked about OT as a whole, and apparently went into some depth on their superior screw fastener geometry and tech. I was wondering, given modern additive manufacturing methods, if those lauded screw designs could be made now and if they are indeed better than what we have now.

No, I see where you're coming from what with the colors and stuff like the wingtip guns on forward-swept wings. Also the shoulder missiles kinda look like red flat pieces.

  4. I remember watching the DVDs of Gasaraki many moons ago and in the extras the mechanical designers talked about how they had to justify there being mecha in the story, when on its face a mecha isn't a great weapons platform or military vehicle, as tanks are smaller, cheaper, and much easier to conceal; so they leaned hard into the Mecha's superior mobility and dexterity. They also made them able to be solo-piloted by having a dedicated computer and sensor system handle all the actual motion of the mecha, all the pilot has to do is point the thing in a direction and the mecha will go there adjusting its speed, balance, and gait automatically.

  5. Honestly? The 5000 is niche enough that they should release the M7 version, then release an Assembly Kit version. It should be cheaper for them since they don't have to pay for assembly and paint, and the hard-core fan would get the scheme they want.
