Don't care to go down the "PC" rabbit hole

    Wise.

Kinda wonder if this is going to be a female Predator hunting these female warriors. Seems the PC thing to do.

Which would make it even MORE unfair for the humans if they follow the novel and comic lore, which has the Yautja females being larger and more powerful than the males.

    14 hours ago, M'Kyuun said:

They certainly wouldn't have posed nearly as much challenge as a team of highly trained military operatives armed to the teeth with automatic weapons, explosives, and 'Old Painless', especially if the Predator uses its full arsenal. He already had a leg-up on Dutch's team; how much more so against half naked natives armed with spears, slings, and bows and arrows.

Its as ridiculous a the Predators concept. Three Predators ("Super Predators" no less) to hunt a measly handful of humans?

At the very least he should restrict himself to melee weapons. In actuality he should take them on unarmed.  Then it could be about him using stealth and ambush  tactics while avoiding their superior numbers.

They could do another story about a Predator doing his thing on the North American east coast taking out a number of Europeans settling on a certain island in what will become N. Carolina. Mystery solved! 😜

Although unless that colony was all armed males there still needs to be an explanation for what happened to the women and children.

Slaughtered by a Bad Blood Predator? Collateral damage to a Predator mini-nuke? Rescued by the natives? Genocided by the natives? Eaten by the natives?

Anyway, from there on to the Napoleonic Wars etc. Was a Predator at Badajoz or Borodino? Why not?😁

Ahhh I coulda sworn the elders were like the Original clones and gave all control over to the other three since they looked so similar but I can't remember been a while since I watched the masters saga

In the novels (and possibly the comics) they were not clones at all, but a triumvirate cabal of original Tirolians that manoeuvred themselves into power during the Great Transition. The Masters were clones and acted as their executive. For everyone other than the Elders (and probably their Elite Guard) the Master Triumvirate is the top of the hierarchy.

The Elders are obsessed with Protoculture because they are obsessed with immortality - quite understandable given how old they must be, and the fact that they are power hungry egomaniacs who appear to lack anything approaching spiritual beliefs.

ok this one I have to ask, Which are which? do we have pictures of them? I ask since me as a person, don't know any of their names.

Robotech Elders Left to Right: Nimuul, Hepsis and Fallagar. The Masters give deference to them in the first or second episode.

I always thought the names came from the novels. Surprisingly they are also on Comic Vine.

Hey. I've worked with SMG. Can confirm. is in the book as the Imperial Bioroid.

Hi, I'm one of the art backers.🖐️

The Imperial Bioroid will also appear in my art commission (though probably not very prominently due to it being a battle scene rather than a portrait).

They are very strict on the stuff that already exists

Just as long as they don't get in the way of my commission, but I'm given to understand that that is unlikely as there is nothing contentious in it.

We are assuming the its camouflage ability simply allows it to change colour XD

That's cool. Will there be art of both the blue and purple versions? Back in the day younger me selfsplained it as the purple versions being the Elite Guard for the Robotech Elders. Based on the old filecard.

They rule over it as the highest authority.

What?? What have you done with the Robotech Elders?

Shaizan, Bokaz and Dag were subordinate to Nimul, Hepsis and Fallagar.

If you don't understand it. i'd be happy to run a game for you. to show you how everything works. sounds like you need it.

Seto Kaiba is NOT a Robotech fan.

I envisioned the Stealth Bioroid always using it cloaking system to reach the edges of a battlefield where it would then snipe targets. its stealth was always meant to be limited in its use because of how much Protoculture it would drain in my mind.

Why would something so simple drain Protoculture at a high rate? Protoculture, as I understand it, is meant to be high yield and super efficient. Is it for game balance reasons, like in the Predator Concrete Jungle PS 2 game?

    18 hours ago, JAAD_SMG said:

Though, i never thought of it as expendable. Its still a Bioroid. with all the perks that entails.

Not meant to be disparaging I assure you. Sacrificing a unit to take out a high value enemy asset behind enemy lines is a viable tactic. (Who has not sacrificed a few Tau Stealth Suits to take out a pesky Gue'la Baneblade or Land Raider in Dawn of War?)

Perhaps the lore for it should focus more on the sniping aspect. I think those ridiculous claws give the wrong impression.

Isn't that the Dark Judge you had to fight in the smoking club in the Judge Dredd game?

That game was fun. Choosing different ammo for the law giver, and rifle-butting jaywalkers in the mouth while sentencing them to time in the cubes. Ah the nostalgia. 😇

every Transformers film or TV series features a human male protagonis

I get your overall point but this is not strictly true in that the Transformers Beast Wars and Beast Machines series (both of which I loved) featured no humans whatsoever.

This reminds me of  an interview article I read when the first live action Transformers was being made. The guy, referring to the human protagonist, explained that you cant have a character that the audience cant identify with. My immediate reaction (having thoroughly enjoyed the aforementioned series) was "What boy, no matter the culture, cant identify with a giant robot?" and " Who can actually identify with an American teenager?" (although the character portrayed in this instance actually turned out to be an ok guy).

es, but it's a marketing necessity if you're going to get studio funding.  You can do anything you want in a comic book, but as soon as you're spending real money to produce a story, it's got to have mainstream appeal.

Of course. This is one reason why I hate live action adaptions of comic or animated series.

(I have special hatred for GOTG for their failure to accurately replicate the Accuser armour, and for pitting the mighty Kree Empire against the "Nova Empire" as if the Xandarians would be anything but a speed bump for a power that gave the Shi'ar Empire concern.)

I would love a great new action figure of him. I don’t have any idea what they were called in the original souther cross series, but in the one or two episodes with them, like most of the personal armors, I loved the design.

Oh absolutely. I'd be in for army building them.

The actual **** is that supposed to be?

Its the "wrong" colour. You see purple versions of them in the SC episode, Labyrinth. You also see un-helmeted ones in other parts of the series e.g. when Marie Angel breaks into a Bioroid Assault Craft.

IOGToys (darkwise) on Twitter: "Does anyone know what this is? Macross? Robotech? I kind of love it! #ogtoys.com #og13 #ogtoys #actionfigures #ori… https://t.co/su1FR7Xss9 https://t.co/sjvIdFAGEk" / Twitter

And you see them piloting Bioroids in Sentinels.

I had one of those as a kid!

I still have 3. Of the Matchbox offerings they, and the armoured Zentraedi warrior figs, were about the best.

On an odd note, how do they sit with that giant beetle butt?

Watch the Trap/Labyrinth episode where two of them are shot again. Its flexible.

  9. I've been wanting to see that for literal decades (Ok mb not Portland - that's more a job a for a Harvester City Destroyer).

I'd love it it they amped up the action and we saw our hero outmaneuvering and slaughtering human soldiers in droves in a heavy combat zone. Or perhaps a duo of them working together to hunt human platoons. The inevitable melee kills, but also an opportunity to have lots of auto-targeting and plasma cannon usage combined with large helpings of  human firepower for contrast. We definitely need the Predator's speed, agility and 3D tactics, so prominent in Predator and Predator 2 but sidelined in AVP, brought back as well.

Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, WW 2, Aliens setting - all could work with a good plot and high production values.

Frankly I see this obsession with having to have a human as the protagonist that the story MUST revolve around as a limiting factor.  It would be much more exciting to follow a Predator Hunting Party and see them taking on the most dangerous game on myriad worlds. Or to see different Predators hunting at different times in Earth's history.

5 hours ago, Big s said:

Not sure if it follows the idea that the predators had to adapt their weapons and gear to the advances their prey made over time

Possibly, but I prefer the idea of the Predator's adapting their tactics. WRT to weaponry I think they can simply handicap themselves to increase the challenge.

If the Predator's are involved in a Predator vs Prey arms race I'd rather it be with something/things considerably more formidable than earth humans.

  10. Apparently its' stealth works in the same manner as that of the Bioroid Terminator. From the Trap/Labyrinth episode that looked to me more like  surroundings blending camouflage than a Predator/Sangheili style cloaking device.

Unless it has some ubertech to deal with it, the noise this thing would make "sneaking around like a ninja" is where I have a problem. I see it as something that would have to lie in wait like an ambush predator.  An expendable assassination unit.

Then again maybe it's stealth just works cos the Tirolians all believe it does...

  11. An interesting fan design appearing in the upcoming Homefront RPG, posted on FB.

The Stealth Bioroid. Not sure about a giant mecha being stealthy, and dont care for the primitive claws, but I do like the look of ithe precision gunpod.

Seeing some of the new Invid and Bioroid variants they come up with will be interesting. With all the work the artist has to do I'm not realistically expecting the book to come out before August/September.
