Is this Kit really any better than the wave kit that just came out? I have one of these kits already, others may want to jump on this. But I haven't bothered with the wave kits yet. Just curious to know how they compare.

Supposedly it's the best kit in terms of detail, panel lining and sculpting per the thread linked below. Can anyone else chime on this?

  2. I recently purchased and received a kit (an original) that is fully intact. Now I would put this together myself and be done with it but I figured I'd ask here first. Would you guys be interested in a recast? Personally I had limited experience with resin and would probably do a trial run or two.

Haven't been on MW since I was a kid and getting this kit awakened some nostalgic memories. Attached some photos for reference.

  3. Thanks for all the opinions guys, I'm glad you all enjoyed it, thought no one like it after being impatient with the posts. Also I did use the remastered version of the show which would explain the picture quality. I wish I've taken the time to fix the lip syncing in some parts, and god dammit there's a typo in the credit's if anyone noticed it. But oh well, you guys like it and I'm guessing that's enough.

Basically the idea came like this. Awful Song + Awful Anime = Awesome Combination

Two minuses equals a negative. :p

I'll be tossing this video around several AMV contests. Hopefully this can also be shown at MW Con 2010 along with Valhalla. I'll finally be there this time!

  4. Hello guys, I'm here again from last year and I hope you all enjoyed my Frontier video. But rest assured I did make another Macross related video, I hope it's full of awesome because I put a lot of effort into this one.

You can all check it out here.

I'll edit the post once I get a direct upload ready for those that don't have a membership to the site, but a preview is available. And oh this did not make it into the AMV Contest for AX this year, hence why I'm posting. It had some technical flaws when I sent it in. But the video right now is clear of them. Chances are it will hit make the preshow at the Nokia :(, hence why I wanted it get in so badly so I can compete.

  5. I went into shock when I heard this. I can't believe AX managed to get them. I wasn't even going to go this year but this changed everything!

It makes sense that Mari would be the special guest.

    Why? You doubting Basara-san?

I know Mari is great and all but May'n and Megumi are on a completely different levels in terms of musical performance.

  6. This is probably going to the best event going on for AX. Many people are rambling over it and many of my friends went from maybe to a guaranteed yes when going. I'll be lining up hours ahead of time, or I dunno. Do those purchased tickets give us priority seating or no?

Funny thing is, I don't really have any Frontier memorabilia for them to sign for the autograph sessions. Maybe I'll just buy the CD and grab a nice picture..

  7. It's a placeholder for the actual video I plan to use. Keeps timing and all.

Like I said, I still need to get a better version of the trailer to work with. Also, I should probably torrent all of Frontier, so I have all 12 hours to work with for material. (Everything in that video is from 10, 13, 24, and 25, I believe)

I had that episode, not from the sub group I normally d/l'd from, but from a group that doesn't save as .MKV, so the subtitles were hard-coded. If I'd had it in MKV, they'd be separate, and it'd not have the subtitles. The purpose of the WIP vids for it were for some people I know to keep their whining down while I worked.

If your going to use Frontier try to get the regular DVD rips, not that I'm endorsing it or anything but the quality is generally a lot better than that of the TV show. :p

I had to use the TV show itself since Frontier was not fully released by the time I finished my project.

Yeah, I see it. Just not familiar with the artist, that's all :) .

It's pretty amazing where you can find your ideas.

Don't hold your breath. I won't be able to finish it until I can torrent all of MacF, find a HD source trailer, and upgrade my computer, because my MP4 codec that allows WMM to handle MKVs slows my PC to hell. It becomes unusable. I've had to cut power to get it back in working order, which screws up progress and sometimes the project file.

And if I've accidentally moved any file, it's all gonna die.

I'll work on it more when I get some more RAM for my computer.

If your planning on editing in HD, don't use WMM, try to find a handy editor like Premiere or Vegas. WMM is good if your getting into the zone with basic editing, but nothing on the level of doing HD work. Make sure to also have a nice PC to handle the HD content since editing real-time in that resolution, despite my specs (E8500, 8800GT, 750GB, 4GB DDR2 RAM), raped my computer, literally. :(

I suggest editing first in the usual 720 x 480 resolution like most editors before you head into the HD , as even most experienced editors still don't edit in a HD resolution. It's a lot less stressful on your machine. I took the path as a experiment, since I knew I'd be spending months on it, so might as well make it look good. Though I really regret not using Blu-Ray rips. <_<

To note AMV.org has a big load of guides to help you out, I suggest you look there before you start editing, also they have been recently updated too.

  8. Excellent AMV man, really well done on the editing. im in the process of making a tribute amv with all of macross.

Thank you, I'm definitely looking forward to your tribute AMV, don't forget to post it here when your done. And remember take your time with your AMV, you'll get the best results that way.

Well done. Just outstanding work, don't know what else there is to say but outstanding!

Thanks, I'm really glad that you liked it!

That. Was amazing. Great work, dude.

By the by, YouTube DOES display in HD. Probably not as high quality as a raw MP4, but still in the upper range.

My work: Alto is Better than Shin

My work in progress: Ace Combat Frontier

Still in an early stage. Have to find the right scenes and get higher-quality trailer to run with. Also, I forgot to cut some stuff off the end of the WIP, so wait till the last 3 or 4 seconds before leaving the video.

The first one, I made a GIF of, because it's funny.

    apvf25igtspvf0.gif

    Thank you! :)

Yeah I'm surprised at the Youtube quality since I assumed the video itself would be butchered with artifacts, I guessed wrong. The HD version on Youtube however is comparable to the HD version that I have for upload on the org.

But I'd like to see more progress, if you can as a tip refrain from using subtitles in your AMV, it puts you one level above everyone else.

Simply stunning. This is an amazing video. Well designed and very smartly edited. Bravo!

Thank you, the AMV was made in a span of about 6 months from brainstorm to finish.

Great job! Good AMV and nice soundtrack too. Keep the good work!

I really appreciate the compliment, if you read the comments in the video profile I discovered the song while watching Conan 'O Brian.

However this won't be my last Macross AMV. ;)

My wife, a couple friends, and I watched the AMVs at AX. This was the last video of the night, and we voted for it as best in it's class. It was a very cool video, and woke us up from some other very dull AMVs. Very well done. Thanks for putting the link up of it.

Like the saying, they always save the best for last. :p

I'm definitely glad that you and your friends enjoyed it at this years AX, as it also my first time getting into the contest this year. But to just hear how much you all enjoyed it makes it all worth it.

My real intention was to broadcast interest of the amazing series and it looks to be working! ^_^

    Wow! That's a keeper!

I'm pretty much speechless at this point on all the positive responses. I'm glad that it's a favorite of yours now. :)

great video! Can we show this at MacrossWorld Con?

Of course, hell I'd be honored if you did, you have my permission. Chances are I'll be attending Macrossworld Con this year anyways.

The responses that I'm getting here are just stunning, again I'm glad that you all loved it. ^_^

  9. I've been hard at work on this AMV for sometime and I felt I couldn't do justice with your ol'regular edited style AMV for Frontier. If any of you went to AX AMV Contest this year it premiered there, well it premiered first at Fanime technially lol. Finally Macross Frontier gets the respect that it deserves! ^_^

Anyways you all can check it out here as it's also available in HD, also you can check it out on

if your too lazy to download.

Feel free to post others here if you know any.

  10. Awesome. Did you meet Mikimoto and Kawamori at AX?

I met Mari and got her autograph a few years ago in San Francisco.

Was it in Fanime? Fortress Maximus managed to get her to autograph my name with a love sign on the original DYRL poster.

Also got Vic (Hikaru's English Voice Actor) to sign on Hikaru's side of the poster (close enough), I wish could get the original VA but we all know the story on that. :(

But all I need is Kawomari to sign it and I'm set, then I'm going to glass frame it as my most valued peice of Macross memoroblia. Hell I only took the post 4 times out of the original mailed tube from Fort to just see the signature, look at it again, get Vic's signature, and to look at it again. :p

  11. oddly enough the only VF-25's that get shot down are main character valks. either Alto or luca get shot down the most, fallowed by Michael.

Alto damaged his a thousand times and had it destroyed once. And Sheryl got Michel's destroyed in a matter of seconds with the guy unconscious in the front.

Ozma is the man. He may have been injured a couple of times, but he never actually lost a Valk!

No Luca is the man. He only lost his gunpod twice and that was it, and he wasn't injured despite that. *cross arms*

  12. I got the VF-1 Max Super Poseable Figurine (1 in 1000) from Anime Los Angeles this year as it was tossed to a friend of mine at the HG panel. What's the value on it? Because I'm seeing it on eBay for $30 so I'm just thinking of cutting the sticker that's holding the box in so I can enjoy it.

Also how do you deal with minor rips of cardboard on collectible boxes? Super glue or something? :(

  13. thanks, I'm still not all the way happy with the face, actually I've gotten more and more unhappy with how the last 2 drawings have turned out over time. the Misa one just feels off but I don't have the motivation to start over and try again. the feels even more wrong, totally not the way I wanted the face to look and it's bothering me endlessly.

things have been pretty shitty lately and I really haven't been able to motivate myself to do anything, especially not drawing. :(

Don't let it bother you man! That's an amazing Misa, and I'm sure everyone that saw that got a nosebleed out of it would want to draw like you.
