  1. so lets assume the megaroad 01 is destroyed.

In macross F would you want a story arc involving finding the megaroad 1 and discovering what happend or do you prefer the mystery?

I'd be interested to see what happend, but what I DON'T want is the fate of the megaroad being tied to the events of MF.

"oh look the megaroad was destroyed by these weird insects!" nah.

I'd like to see it as a side story, and i'd like it to simply be a exploration of some tradgic event. which imho would be a fitting end to the SWI characters story line and the macross theme of life simply happening. Survive a war, then die in an interstellar "car wreck". otherwise i'd just rather the mystery.

realistically thats the only real way i can see recurring characters happening, MF is about a colony ship right? It wouldn't make much sense for Isamu or Fire Bomber to fly all the way out there somehow.

I assume we'l probably see some "camios" though like a minmay T-shirt or a video of basara in concert. but that's all i'm expecting.

  2. i like the native language to be with the media, it almost always sounds better.

maybe it's because i can't understand them but it seems to me most japanese voice actors do a better job emotionally than their american dub-arists.

perhaps because anime/animation is more accepted for adults in japan the pay is better and the quality is higher or something.

I'm like this with all movies though, if hollywood makes a movie about germany in ww2 i want the movie to be in german, not a bunch nazi's speaking english at each other.

  3. It's a nice take, i certainly am not a big fan of allegory, so i prefer to take my Macross pill for what it is, and not try to imbew some bigger theme.

To me it's a story about love and loss, duty and personal gain, and how all these things interact.

Sure it has a few (stretched) paralells to WW2 maybe, but its a show about a big war, how many REALLY big wars have modern tims had? 10 tops? and that's pushing it. Wars always involve isolation, huge odds and amazing heroism at some point. All the points he made about it being japan could pretty easily be applied (scaled up or down) to any encounter/battle in any modern war. So while not irrelevant, i think retrofiting meaning into a show like Macross is just a tad thin.

Still a very interesting read. Even if really, it is mostly the opinion of the writer.

  4. I love SDF. Unfortunately, the only taste of it I've had was through Robotech: The Macross Saga. So no Minmay shower nudity. T_T lol

However, through obvious emotions, some online spanish dictionary consult, and cognates, I was able to watch the spanish dub on youtube of Macross: Do You Remember Love. I loved it! Minmay is alot less annoying in Japanese, too. XD Listening to her sing in Robotech is like fingernails vs. chalkboard for me.

I like some of the mecha in the later series, such as the VF-17S and the VB-06 Konig, but SDF had the best.

I wish there were more releases of Max's VF-1A from the series, not DYRL, and a cheaper Monster MK-II. I was lucky to get figures of both of these in a gashapon set, along with a regult, queadluun-rau, Roy's VF-1S, and Hikaru's VF-1J. They each come with their own little diorama stand, which looks pretty good to boot. The Monster was the chase figure.

Those are now the only macross items I own, aside from the Robotech: The Macross Saga DVD Box Set.

Anyway, I digress. SDF is the best, and I'd really like to get the ADV dub on DVD some time.

buy the macross DVD set. if you love robotech that much, the awesomeness of pure macross will simply crush you with joy. It's not very expencive and probably the best value per dollar anime in the world!

  5. Yo captain, I would defenitly wanna have a 1/6 scale resin model kit of Cain : sounds like Xmass.

You still have the plans you drew up yes? <_<

Hey you remembered the guy a talked about earlier who's doing one?

His name is gumby and this is what he has done so far:

    Pretty neat. B))

sweet zombie jesus. I'm no real fan of robocop but ANY mech fan has to appreciate that lower mech torso. That is absoloutly stunning, I can't wait to see it fully built!

  6. For new factions, this game has been running for about three years now and they are on their third set of characters, just trying to give them new options and new people to get beat up by.

Plus I get bored easily and like to throw new things at them.

you guys have been in one RP campaign for almost 3 years? that's a long time!

  7. In the case of Superman sounding like Star Wars, both movies' soundtracks were composed by John Williams. Who's going to sue a person for copying themself? Not that anyone would sue the composer of Gunbuster's score for sounding like Vangelis.

Actually the director of a movie could indeed sue his composer if say.. Mr. Williams turned in a direct copy of the tune to Superman as the theme for some other movie, claimed it was "original" work and was paid as such.

Same way a student can be docked for plagerizing themself if they turn in the same paper in two classes.

  8. I know exactly what you mean wolfx, I been to europe and saw the the most exotic sunsets, clouds, and beaches and all I had to say was "is that all you got god".

After I saw the comparison pics, I just wanted to send this guy pics of my life and see what he can do, lol.

ha, you got it bad, man. i mean these are indeed real pretty picturs and i'm sure the story is fantastic, but i still give the +1 to the real thing. :-p

  9. wow, nicely put warmaker, I think you make a fantastic point about the ups and downs of SDF.

everything in SDF is cataclysmic. the fate of earth hangs in the balance, and is in manyways totally lost, then it's the fate of HUMANITY and the mental and emotional jeopardy of the survivors.

when you think about it, what enemy in macross has been so imposing as the space war 1 Zentradi? in the most up-to-date stories, the zents are among us, big or small, they're not new, as an enemy they're muddled, we know we can beat them, infact we know we can beat them with old technology and songs.

in SDF that was all an unknown.

no where else has all of humanity stood in the balance, and conversly, all of "zentradi humanity" since humans essentially saved zentradi from themselves.

  10. driven by revenge is a scary phrase.

the new bond was so great because it ignored it's pedigree. I see revenge mentioned twice here.

my fear is that rather than getting interesting, this bond will be al about "you'll pay now, mr who ever you are that killed my woman" yawn.

As for the new bond girl who is also "driven by revenge" i get this horrible gutt feeling she's going to

be the sister of that girl who got killed in the hammock.

please please please don't let me be right. oh god.

I don't want this to become Bond Wars where every important international figure is somehow blood or sex related to people in the first film. ugh .

that said, man i can't wait, Casino Royal was flippin amazing.

  11. thank god i didn't like this show, those figures are freakin awesome. I had one of the old ride armors back in the 80's from a trip to japan. The "man" part lasted forever, but the bike didn't last even a week.

nostalgia wants to make me want these, but i can fight it this time.

  12. well, my point is... sometimes, people who are sick, just can't will themselves into health. Their minds just aren't capable of making those decisions or seeing things the same way a healthy person would.

this is true, but as a society i think we have an obligation to make this final "option" as frowned upon as humanly possible. a person who actively kills themselves IS infact capeable of not killing themself. if they know that no one will have sympathy for them because they abandoned a child, it might be just enough to keep them from doing the final act.

depression induced suicied IS a big deal, like you said, but it's not as involuntairy as say.. a heart attack. there is still a good amount of self infliction goin on.

ANYWAY it's all moot, it sounds like, dispite his past issues with substances and abuse problems, Heath may have been done in by a simple toxic mix of legal propperly dosed drugs. which is very sad.
