I'm a bit disappointed that the translation of the official site spec says the arm cannons are shell firing, not beam guns.
Now I've nothing against shell firing cannons, in fact I personally think they are cooler than beam weapons.
But in the context of Macross weapons technology development, this seems to be a technological step backwards to go back to using shell firing cannons, as for the VF-27, YF-29 and YF-30, reliable rapid fire beam-gunpods had beam developed and replaced standard shell firing gunpods.
Also, on the VF-31, the arm guns are only single barrel, so will have a slower rate of fire than multi-barrel gunpods, this reducing their effectiveness in fast moving aerial combat.
Secondly, as seen from the attached picture, the arm gun pods are pretty small and this will lack space to carry much ammunition, so will run dry quickly.
Yeah, I want them to be beam weapons too, and double up as beam swords for close combat.
Sort of like this.

event attendees on twitter are reporting similar to the article now
DX: YF-19 & Fire Valk
HMR: VF-0A, VF-4, VF-22S;
Will be awhile before pictures come in since its in a strict no-photography zone
Whoa, DX YF-19 AND Fire Valk?!
Does that mean Bandai got both Plus and 7 licence?

If Delta is good, it's good; if it's not, it's not--regardless of the niche it's trying to fit into. It could very well be a serious, gritty war drama that falls flat on its face and sucks. Who knows, we've seen so little. If it's stupid we'll know within the next few months.
Agreed. Just getting really tired of people from both side being over-sensitive as heck when it comes to their favorite show.
I'm just here for the toys man.
-
iirc, Bandai always had their 1/100 line competing head-to-head against Yamato's 1/60. Hi-Metal, VF/100, something else?
Didn't quite work out for them, until Yamato got hit hard by the worldwide economy downturn a few years ago.
Didn't Bandai's old 1/100 line failed due to poor quality of the toys itself?
If they can fix that with their future Hi-metal releases and gain a following, this line might be successful this time around.
Of course, I would much rather have a true transformable valk in 1/60 scale, but the selling point of the 1/100 hi-metal line are price and variety.
-
Well, having a very successful 1/100 might not be a direct challenge to Arcadia's 1/60 line, but it could be a indirect one.
Most fan don't have an unlimited budgets to buy Macross toys. So, if any of us decided to get into Bandai's 1/100 line, that's going to take money away from us buying Arcadia's 1/60 stuffs.

You don't have to like it, and you can voice your opinions to that effect. I think the reactions you are getting are because you literally said you wanted to see all these characters KILLED.
That's pretty alarming to read.
I was half joking in regards to the post I made about characters death, and I did not said I want ALL of them killed off. So don't twist my word, but I do apologize if I offended anybody with that post.
But let's be honestly here. Character death is pretty much a staple in Macross.
Original Macross: Roy Focker
DYRL: Roy Focker (again)
Macross Zero:
Roy Focker(he lived because we needed him in the original series. ) Nora/DDMacross Plus: Guld
Macross 7: Can't comment since I didn't finish.
Macross Frontier: Michael
So, when I asked who's going to die in Delta you don't think that's a legitimate question?
As for my reaction. I'll just say this. If some of you claim to be open minded you wouldn't be telling other Macross fan to get out of anime/hobby because they don't agree with the direction Delta is heading.
This is all I'm going to say about this issue. Let's move on.
-
Okay, so for the topic of the thread, what's next for Bandai, who had "EVERY F*CKING THING" because you were the one that got it right!
So..what's next for Bandai? EVERYTHING!
-
LOL...
I don't think anyone is wishing for the demise of Arcadia....just some harmless goofing due to the events of the day....
Sheesh....so sensitive....but understanable considering the history of this company....
Yeah, a lot of sensitive people on right now.
Also, stay away from the Macross Delta thread in the TV series section if you don't anything nice to say about Delta. That's all I'm going to say about that.
-
Hard to see the scale of what's displayed; but seems to be consistent with the article was saying?
Wow, can someone zoom in on that AD 2012 panel?!
-
Truly, you've hit the nail on the head Kanedas Bike. No one knows what they have until it's gone.
I'm happy about the Bandai's announcements, but I share your confusion with certain posts. It's odd seeing the awkward comedy/sarcasm wishing for Arcadia to fold. If nothing else, I hope they receive the news well and become even more passionate for their own designs. I'd love to see them make some leaps next year and bring more new things to market. If Bandai is bringing a flood, then I think that makes for a great opportunity that Arcadia can use to debut unique molds and reissue rare paint schemes.
Personally, I don't want to see Arcadia to go out of business. But, let's be honest here. Arcadia is a small company, and Bandai is a large corporation. If both side come to blow with release battle (or any sort of battles for that matter) Arcadia will get crushed by Bandai through sheer capital alone.
Though I do wish Arcadia can revisit some of their rarer Yamato releases, if licencing isn't an issue.

I dont thk tamashii nations sell kits. Its all abt the toys!
They teased a dx chogokin... so not model.
Well, in that case...all aboard!
-
So, Bandai just announce this 1/35 valk line without any prototypes showing?
This might be another model kit line, sort of like their Perfect Grade Gundam line, but for Macross.
-
I think this is what's next for Arcadia.
-
Whoa! you guys need to be careful about showing any sort of negative opinions or disappointment. Other die-hard Macross fan will jump down your throat for disliking what they like.
Don't judge me, I'm just here for the Valks.
Me too.
-
Does anyone know how many ep Macross Delta will have? 25-26?
One concern I have is the amount of characters they're showing. I mean unless this is going to be some epicly long series, it'll be hard to properly develop all these characters.
Between the Valkyrie girls singing and high speed mecha porn action to push toy sales, that doesn't really leave a whole of time for anything else.

You haven't watched Macross-7 ???
On second thought, you're better off not to have, anyway...
I did tried to watch Macross 7, and I couldn't even finish it. People say it gets better in the second half, but i was going...wtf am I watching the entire time.
The other thing is why r the designations SV. Ie anti UN spacey. They existed prior sdfm as per continuity, but suddenly popping up here years after frontier?
I thought the anti-UN elements never went away even after Space War I, how they survived the destruction of Earth is anyone's guess.
-
So, is it confirmed that this is indeed going to be a model kit?
I'll display this in my bathtub.
-
man, this thing is going to be hguc Neo Zeong size...maybe bigger..
-
If Bandai release max and millia VF-1J WITH SP in his HMR line....I hope Arcadia do the same with his 1/60 scale line....and this will become a hit to hit battle.
I would love to see some releases battle between Bandai and Arcadia. Not sure if that's a smart business decision though. Both sides are going to take some losses doing that.
ARCADIA you gotta put out that 1/60 destorid cheyenne pronto!! With delta trailer showing it, you better get a move on b4 bandai beats ya to it!!
hmm, i can see Arcadia releasing the Cheyenne for 200 bucks each.
I'm guessing that with Bandai's reveal of the 1/1800 DYRL SDF-1 that It's now a safe assumption that we'll never see the Yamato 1/3000 mould released again. Not that there was much hope.
So, 1/1800 DYRL Macross is going to be the new holy grail?
-
I think you mean are there any 'men'.
We need a manly Isamu or Ozma type main character.
With today's anime industry, manly characters doesn't sell. Delta is going full speed with the moe designs, and hell..frontier has high school setting. It is what it is though.
Hmm, the toy is missing the wing hardpoints from the anime
eh yeah..the hardpoint wings will come with the Version 2 of the VF-31...
-
For a forum made up of 30+ something men you guys sure act immature when it comes to your japanese robot cartoons.
Japanese cartoons are serious business man!
But honestly, if Delta turns out to be good I'll praise it, if not I'll slam it. Then i'll move on to something else. seriously, why so serious?
-
I should of lowered my expectations a bit. Really didn't like the male character designs. I'm not digging the female idol group vibe. But at least they're doing something different and the SV-262 looks sexy. I wonder if it's still a love triangle. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
Yeah, it's never a good thing to get too hype over something. Hope is the first step towards disappointment after all.
I'm actually kind of let down after all this, but i'm still going to watch the show and buy the valk..so oh well.
And to other board members who attacks other members for not liking what they're seeing so far. Try to be more mature and be respectful of other people's opinion.

That poster with all the SDF designs is a questionnaire.
I would certainly vote for M&M, DYRL NJ and Q Rau
Monster is the only answer.

I thought they said the Valkyrie girls are not actually pilots? They're there to support the pilots by blowing their ear drum singing in the back seat.
