  1. I was at a local toy shop this afternoon and I was enquiring about an Arcadia RF VF-1S in the display window and the owner quoted me $350 for it. Appalled, I asked him why is it so expensive and he said to me that Arcadia has lost it's Macross license and won't be producing anymore SDF/DYRL Macross stuff. I tried pressing him for more details but all the would say is that he knew this from his HK "source".

    Grr.... <_<

Oh snap, here we go again. Where's Treatment and Jenius at?

    pl_round2.png

    everyone panic!!!

  2. Not really related to Hi-Metal toys...

But talking about how/why Yamato went out of business is totally related.

Besides, we needed this for the drama. I'm doing this for you man. I'm taking one for the team.

    just ignore me.

When the toys hit bargain basement prices....it is just hurting the retailer in the short run...the toy vendor has already made their money once the last case of toys is sold at wholesale to retailers....in the long run, the vendor will start to feel the impact of their toys constantly going on clearance if the retailers decide to scale back on what they perceive to be poor sellers/profit generators....or something like that...

Yeah, you're probably right about that.

  3. Regarding Arcaida's high price game. I think they're pricing their valk that high is because if any of their products hit the bargain bin, it wouldn't hurt them that much in the pocket. Like if they price their VF-0 at 300 a pop, even after bargain bin price it can still go for 150 maybe. So, selling it at 150 they can still cover all the cost + profit.

    Tin-foil hat on.

  4. You need to go re-read that thread. I made fun of someone who came into the thread asking why everyone was so happy. I teased that person by making it seem like they were demanding anger... you're taking the words I jokingly put in their mouth and putting them in mine.

Well, you didn't exactly quoted anyone while saying that. So, I just assumed that you were just throwing it out there.

In any case, it turns out to be very funny  and we move on.

  5. Help me understand how my post illustrates that?

Pretty sure I was trying to be fair to all sides of the issue...

    -b.

I was only using your popcorn comment as a reference to all the drama, the negativity, and the anger displayed by some of the board members here as they debated about Jenius' claim to Arcaida losing their VF-1 licence.

Then I remembered that he said something about everybody being too happy in the toy section, and he tease about wanting some drama. Well, the drama found him so it was very humorous situation.

  6. :p i deny retcons, yeah Grace must've lured her in that fairy 9 van with those earrings. hey it worked for Dr. Hasford B))

Those Nome girls never learn do they?

Maybe we won't see NUNS in this at all.

Although if we do, I wonder what VF they will be using in 2067?

I'm also curious how the faction that is using the VF-31 got them?

Yeah, didn't someone said they want to get away from the whole UN thing for copyrights reason? I think we'll see SMS instead (again).

I vote for the VF-22 as their mainstream fighters in 2067.

If a faction got enough money they can buy whatever toys available to outfit their military with.

  7. Honestly, I think the HM/HM-R had their same old yen-pricing as the old Yamato 1/60v2.

It's only Arcadia that jacked the pricing up to stupid high...

Well, back in 2008 a Yamato VF-1S ver.2 Hikaru w/ S/S parts was what? 12800 yen MSRP? With high yen exchange rate back in the day you're paying 150-200 USD?

The Hi-Metal 1/100 VF-1S w/ S parts cost about 100 bucks shipped, so you are kind of right about this being a bit pricey.

However, I would cast more blame on inflation, Arcadia not releasing more VF-1 stuff, and yes them jacking up the price. Also, the fans should shoulder some of the blame as well. These toys are worth what we're willing to pay. Of course, the downsize to this is toy company stop making Macross toys because nobody is buying them at this price range. The potential good thing that might come out of it is that they might lower the asking price for their stuff.

After the nostalgia wave has ended.....I wonder if the Vajra will eventually make it into the HMR line?

    5zgno.jpg

That's really cool, but I don't think I'm down for a Tyranid Vajra toy.

  8. I have to wonder how much military power the Kingdom of Wind can lay to bear.

Why they may be a threat to a single colony the NUN can show its military might by sending a combined NUNS taskforce.

    It may find itself outgunned.

The NUN has a great industrial capacity due to the Factory Satellites.

Well, we didn't see any NUNS/SMS reinforcements being deploy in Macross Frontier (TV ver.) as the entire Galaxy fleet was seemingly annihilated and the Frontier fleet in danger of being overrun by Tyranid Vajra forces.

So, Delta's planetary defense force might be on its own. Honestly, with the NUN government launching colony fleets left and right, I'll be surprise if they even have a sizable emergency respond force to deal with stuff like this. Maybe Planet Delta/Kingdom of Wind is considered a sovereign nation that is currently engaged in a civil war, so the NUNS government can't get involved? or maybe the conflict is not even big enough to be on NUN's radar.

that's Grace's child, she gave those earrings to Nome :p

So, Grace was passing out free candy fold quartz to children while driving in her van?

Mao Nome is Sheryl's grandmother and that is where Sheryl got them from. It was the reason why Kawamori retconned the BD release of Zero with a scene where the ear rings can be seen in the background.

I have proof of the scene that Zinjo was referring to.

  9. Where's the popcorn smiley?!

Honestly this is almost a glass half-full vs. glass half-empty debate between a few members here - and I'm sure I've fallen on one side of that debate myself.

That said, either one in excess can get rather annoying (no offense meant, just lack of a better term).

Can we actually speculate or talk about what IS actually next for Arcadia? VF-4G, VF-0S, VF-0 Reactive Armor, and what may follow in a logical progression?

Why is everyone happy? I demand negativity and anger!

I think Jenius got what he wanted after all. :D

  10. I am all for Isamu showing up, but a beard? Here is the latest drawing of Isamu used in an official Macross venture. To be fair, he was time traveled in from Macross Plus era in Macross 30. The guy from Delta looks pretty heavy an worn out. I always imagine Isamu would age pretty well, and maintain his cavelier attitude. Isamu sounded pretty happy to be flying around and blowing stuff up in his Frontier cameo.

    iS4Av2V.jpg

Knowing Isamu he probably won't do things half way. He'll probably grow a bread like this.

  11. I welcome the Bandai Hi-metal 1/100 line because it's half the price of your typical 1/60 valk and it is going to have more variety in designs. And like a lot of people already mentioned, playing with the 1/60 valk can feel a little intimidating sometimes. I don't get that vibe with this 1/100. It seems like this is going to be a pretty good price range and size to actually play with this.

When I get my hands on my 1/100 VF-1S Hikaru I'm going to swoop it around the house, throw it against the wall, pound it into the dirt (cause it crashed), and then take it to the bath with me (water landing). Okay, maybe not that extreme.

Also, just imagine the possibility of creating a diorama with all your 1/100 valks, destroids and battlepods duking it out. With the 1/1800 SDF-1 as the background of course. That is going to be GLORIOUS!

  12. We need more proof! We need the extended directors cut edition!!!:lol:

Showing further proofs would require me to post image that are NSFW.

Besides, only Mr. Kawamori have the only copy of the DYRL rated X special edition director cut in existence. You can find it on his desk next to a box of tissue and the bottle of vaseline.

  13. whoever is going next year, remember ... stealth camera or long zoom!

Their no photography policy is most likely to encourage ppl to go to the events, instead of trawling the net for......oh......OK. Pardon me.. ^_^

This sound like a job for Quiet.

It's a possibility that some of those 'leaked' photos were taken by non-Japanese who are unable to read the notices.

Or by Japanese who forgot how to read Japanese while they were in there.

  14. ET got nothing to say since they got a fugly rendtion and don't even want to include the SAP until much later (if ever).

Bandai's got the SAP on their's on the get-go.

But they do have the license for a 1/60 scale VF-2SS right? If they have that license already then Bandai can't touch it.

Well, we don't really know if Bandai Hi-metal 1/100 VF-2SS is going to be great or not...so I'll have see it to believe it first I guess.

Who knows, maybe Bandai will release the VF-2SS by itself then a combo pack with the SAP as a online exclusive.

  15. what happened to the days of: pics or it never happened... or link please? (meaning proof)

personal opinions do not start with the words "my sources tell me..."

it's scoopdaa tabloid claiming Minmay slept with Hikaru.

What? But they did slept together. I have proof.

    tumblr_mejk6r6Lby1r4wbf5o1_r1_500.gif

  16. I was thinking that the engines are actually within the legs on either side of the feet, but the angle of the pic doesn't show. For the battroid, that would make sense. Interesting that the canopy is completely opaque, which makes me think the little diamonds in their hair may be a telepresensence transmitter/receiver, essentially a more advanced version of the YF-21's BDI system.

Can't wait to see battroid. I still think the intakes are going to form the chest, a la YF-21, and the small squarish blocks behind the intake are going to be swivel blocks for the shoulder, like the -25, and the shoulder pauldrons are the large section that form the fuselage behind the intake. I imagine the arm itself either folds, or inserts into the leg. All conjecture, but I guess we'll see.

Yeah, I'm excited to see how this thing will transform. I think it's pretty well known that valks are design with fighter mode in mind first, and battroid secondary. As long as the Battriod doesn't look like this...I'm happy,

    ac160201.jpg

    Oh lord have mercy.

  17. Well, the picture isn't showing. :p

But Euro-fighter? That's one sexy looking delta winged fighter. Is it just me or are European Air Forces total in love with the Delta styled fighter planes.

That design might be common in real life, but it's my first time seeing it on a Macross Valkyrie.

It's time to play Who's this Pokemon?

    9-dassault-rafale-b-of-the-french-air-ge

  18. Having spent a lot of time up close with the Chogokin Draken III prototype today, I gotta say that it's the sexiest piece of Valkyrie toy engineering since the Yamato VF-4. The underside is smooth as silk. And yes, there are two engines.

Two engines huh. Well, those 2 engines must be right next to each other to be able to give off the illusion of a single engine plane. Nice!

    2 words. pre-order madness.

Thats one sexy paintjob and sculpt!! Looks like it fits together very well!

Agreed. Hype for the SV-262 rose yet again to another level!

This is probably one of the few Delta news that Macross fan can agree on and is totally happy with.

  19. Here's a slightly better angle...(still no closeup tho <_< )

Someone needs to go James Bond/Mission Impossible on this event. I want to see close up pictures of these toys so crystal clear that I can see dust particles on them.

  20. You've owned those bad 19's as well. None of this is guaranteed to be good until we get one in hand. Not even the enemy mecha, which I'm excited (and still looking for a pre-order for) are guaranteed to be good.

You know what, I was just thinking the same thing. I have a couple Hi-metal stuff on preorder, but I have no idea how good/bad they are going to turn out. If they're bad then it's a couple hundreds buck down the drain for me.

  21. Why is everyone happy? I demand negativity and anger!

I think Mommar up there is pretty upset. :p

Honestly, you are allow to feel joy or disappointment regarding any news (delta or otherwise), and is entitled to your opinion. Just cut out the insults and high horse attitude against people who doesn't agree with you. Not directing this at anybody just in general.
