I'm in for one, if not that exact version, at least one of the other paint schemes.

Is this the exact same mold as the vf-31A?  Are there any differences?  Do we even know yet?

It is not the same as the 31A: there's the much more aggressive saw tooth on both wings and canards, different mission pack, and extra large beam guns that are no longer integrated into the fuselage.

Personally, I think the original 31A was a prettier bird, but I do like how the new FP's look and will hopefully get a few of the AX's just to put the FP's on.  I especially like Arad's new ride, but Hayate will do for now :)

I was looking at the armor design between the old and new, there doesn’t seem to be any physical differences.

As for the super parts, they sit differently on the new valks, so maybe there are some differences  from that point of view.

Will see if I want to grab one or two as I already have quite a few 31 valks.

I think that's a normal 31-A under there from the fact that the beam tonfas aren't so ginormous... weird that they would feature it though, given that the armored Kairos was already in the previous movie.  Perhaps it has a more prominent role in the upcoming movie?  I bet a whole squad of them gets blown up to show how serious the baddies are, LOL.

  3. I didn't think I needed yet another Hayate, but there you go...

It's not quite as sleek as the original 31, especially with the protruding guns, but I still like it.  I especially like the color layout with accents instead of the whole bird being that color.

Going back about 40 pages, I noticed that several people have been having the gap at the knee joint,  while grabbing to the sight, it does not really detract too much from the jet.  My major issue, being the fact that the left wing will not sit tightly against the leg, I have shaved down the tabs going into the leg to see if it was a fit problem that way, but it hasn't really changed anything.  I will not shave anything more off of the tab, and realistically, these are minor annoyances, but not ones that I experienced on my VF-31F Messer/Hayate version.  I really love both of my VF-31's and do not regret buying them at all.  It is just making me wanting to know more about the plans for future valk releases coming from the next Delta movie and the future.  We got the VF-25G Tornado and the whole slew of YF-29 toys from the second Macross Frontier movie....how many DX toys will we get from this one.

I have a bunch of 31's but have not had anything really major like this: the fighter gap behind the cockpit is the most I've ever had, but it usually went away after 2-3 transformations.  I have chuck but haven't opened him: I'll let you know if I find this issue as well when I do.

  5. Wow, I'm in love with that 31s color scheme.  I actually prefer the new super pack configuration too, but to each his own.  I thought I wasn't going to buy anymore VF-31's, but if this or another 31A come out I retract my previous commitment :)

  6. I got a VF-4G, and now that I know it fits, if you don't want it, I do :).  I'm also looking for intake covers as I bought a used one that's missing them: if you're obsessed with perfect trans and don't use them, I will take them off your hands.

I checked my VF-4A's gunpod versus my Arcadia VF-1S and the 1S definitely had a noticeably fatter handle. I figured that it was easier for them to shave off the handle to make it work with the existing slot in the VF-4 than it was to adjust the slot in the VF-4, but if the Yamato mold was the slimmer handle, then maybe that wasn't the case? I don't have any Yamato VF-1s to compare, unfortunately.

Sorry if this was answered earlier, I couldn't quite find it on search.  But does the VF-4A gunpod mount to the VF-4G?

  8. I will second the person who said its worth your time to drill and pin.  I have repaired teeny tiny wrist joints on 1/25 Joy Toy figures using .020" brass rod where the figure was played with extensively and they have held up.  Straight glue repairs, however, have failed for me even on static 10mm ish connections.

If the joint is small, use a smaller drill and smaller pin.  I prefer thin brass so that if there's misalignment in the holes the pin has a bit of give.  You can also oversize the holes just a tiny bit and fill with a lower viscosity epoxy or superglue.

  9. Oh!  This is fun!

    10. DX VF-171EX with armor pack
  10. This is a used Arcadia VF-0A I bought off of mandarake, but never took out of the box otherwise.  It is complete with sticker sheet and manual.  I'm also including some extra shapeways hips in case you need them, but I've never tried transforming so I wouldn't know.  I'd rework this bird myself but I'm just out of time with other customization projects.  It looked pretty pristine to me: see attached photos.  I can take more pics on request.

But those are some 1/20 new kits, not the B2Five's.

The B2Five's are these (and look infinitely better):

I'm a collector of B2Five's Acid Rain and Votoms stuff.  It might not be line accurate, but B2Five toys are some of my favorite toys to play with: they're well built, very poseable, fun to transform (for the transforming ones), and they're just made really smart (integrated holding spots for extra weapons, etc.) . I'm really looking forward to these!  They're not as photogenic, but if you ever played with starcom or MASK toys or exosquad as a kid, it totally brings back all those feels

Lurker here. Surfacing only to let folks know Chuck's 31-E is available on Amazon JP for JPY 18,864, or $178.77 shipping inclusive.

Thank you for the heads up!  I ordered one!  Now I just need Chuck's armor and cannon fodder's armor so I can put them and Arad together in one ridiculous display of CG gun dumpage

  14. Hi there, I can't seem to find a good hi-res pic of this.  Ideally, if you could put it next to a normal VF-25 gun mount, I'd appreciate it: i came into possession of a spare VF-25G rifle and want to convert one of my VF-25A's via 3D print but I'd like to know roughly where to start in terms of design.

  15. I keep forgetting to take pictures, so I'm posting this during the day partly to force myself to post pics tonight :).

Both fighters come with boxes and fixed pose hands (minus one for VF-31A no. 2 since it was used for the articulated right hand repair).

    VF-31A no. 1 Condition B

First candidate, mildly used VF-31A displayed in fighter mode.  I transformed it once to address the cockpit gap and to check for other damage.  It was purchased used from YJA.  There is some small discoloration at the front of the canards where they were damaged probably from someone who didn't know to pull them out before rotating when going to gerwalk.  I have put them in 120F water and tried to gently rebend them to shape followed by some blended Copic marker to fade out the stress marks.  Asking $425 shipped to CONUS OBO.

    VF-31A no. 2 Condition C $OLD

Second candidate, another used VF-31A that convinced me never to order from Surugaya ever again.  It came to me missing the intake covers, the whole friggin articulated right hand, and one knife.  It also came with very damaged canards, so I ended up trying to repair by gentle sanding similar to how you would work out a chip in a knife.  This one has some paint scuffed off on the right shoulder that is visible in battroid mode.  There's some unevenness in the matte finish under one wing typical of this valk.  Also, the crotch plate metal connection bar appears to have been taken out at some point, for what purpose I have no idea- I have reinserted it, but it is alot easier to pull out now than a minty fresh valk- you can see the plastic worn slightly more than it should be (edges not as sharp) if you look at it in fighter mode.  I purchased a VF-31J right hand, removed the white cover plate, and carefully sanded down the grey cover plate from one of the fixed posed hands to replace it along with puttying up the gaps using an orumayu mold (IMHO it is very hard to distinguish from the original hand now). $SOLD

In terms of trades I'm open to offers, worst I can say is no.  I'm a fan of, you guessed it, 1/60 macross.
