Yeah, the old Bandai 1/65 toys are still my  favorite versions of the VF-17D & VF-17S and in fact one of my all-time favorite Macross toys.

A few relatively simple improvements to the 1/65 would make them so much better.

I'd like to see the 1/65 VF-17 redesigned with the following changes:

    • Improved hand sculpt, perhaps with different swapable fixed pose hands.
    • Improved gunpod sculpt.
    • Modify the knee joints so that the knees bend both forward and back (a modification that many owners do themselves anyway).
    • Improved front and rear landing gears and landing gear doors, to make them more lineart accurate.
    • Add ratcheted ball joints to the hips to allow the toy to do an A stance.
    • Perhaps add an opening canopy and pilot figure.

    I love GBM Shop's custom....

Every time I check back, something else is somehow functional. By the time this thing is done the pilot will actually walk up and board all on his own

lol, ain't that the truth! the function and details implemented on this 1/55 is mind blowing....

I was a member back then, we had some serious VHS tape trading going on via mail order ^_^
Never any real meetups except once we all got together at one of the first Robotech conventions, think it was at the Disneyland hotel or somewhere in Orange County (California)???

At some point all the older members went on a trip to Japan and toured Gainax when they were in production for Honneamise.
    Yeah, I totally missed out.
No way I could have financed a Japan trip with my paperboy salary ~_^
Don Yee (Rest in Peace) was one of the first Anime Mentors that I met through that group, and we still met up at times at con's until his unfortunate passing:

    Sorry if too much rambling....

That's awesome, thanks for sharing! The question remains tho... who is John Gaydos?? lol
