1. You guys want this for your co-admin?  :D

A1 Steak sauce : The Chicken gets saucy

Dieting seems to make you call for anything with a little taste, so naturally all the sauces and marinades were dragged from the depths of my cupboard to make that boring old chicken taste a little more interesting. Right at the very back I came across my all time favourite A1

  2. The second generation RX-7s are made for high freeway speeds, they absolutely purr at over 90mph and make long car trips a lot of fun. When I used to go up and down California on a regular basis (for school) my '86 made the trips up and down 5 and 99 a lot more tolerable.

The Japan trip was great, trying to figure out some ways to get back soon. But my school schedule is hectic right now, so I'm not sure when I'm going to be able to squeeze it in. What are you doing in Germany?

    359107

Mine sure purrred...in the rolling green hills of Virginia. Back in the day, I piloted my '86 to experience extra-Gs and weightlessness.

Now, I'm working for a small Germany company with aspirations of being a global player. I'm part of their long-term strategic plan.

  3. Nope. Even though both cars have the RX in their name (Rotary eXperiment), the RX-8 and the RX-7  were aimed at different markets. The RX-7 was a sports car (arguably the best sports car produced by Japan) whereas the RX-8 is really more of a sports coupe, what with the back seats and lack of racing pedigree.

I sure miss my '86 RX-7 GXL now that I commute daily on the Autobahn. Driving a BMW 318i for now. I'm pretty comfortable 200 kph (~124mph) in the fast lane. However, I still get butterflies when I approach slow lane traffic. Never know when one of those idiots might pull into my lane.

    How was your J-trip?

  4. Hmm, I can see the pics in the first reply clearly

Now I don't know if it's the christmas spirit, new years nerves

or plain getting old, but what ever happened to Robotech bashing? :p

    Seriously:

    Welcome to MW Dana Sterling

    355947

Firstly, I concur with everyone here, great cosplay! :)

    ...

OK, holiday-spirit-mode off, reference to "Dana Sterling" is an eye-sore. :p

  5. i've been out of mw's radar scope for quite awhile, but...to know mw's wm is still cranking out his master builds, it gives me a sense of inner-peace. :)

I don't know if it's just creative types or not, but do you know when you get a idea in your head on how you want something to work out, and in your head you can see it, but trying to explain it to others makes you seem like a babbling buffoon, but you know it will be great when it's done... ;)

Well in other words, a picture is worth a thousand words. You've showed us what was in my head.  :blink:B))

  6. My taste is all over the place...ska/blue beat, two-tone, oldies, motown soul, classic rock, punk (but I despise hardcore and emo), oi/streetpunk, indie rock, 80s, classical/orchestral, some electronica (does Vangelis count?), Jpop/asian, etc...

Overall, my favorite genre is probably motown soul, e.g., Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, Marvin Gaye, Temptations, The Supremes (best girl band ever!), etc...

But my roots are in punk. Off the top of my head, if I had to list my top 3 bands...

    1. The Jam (UK, 70/80s)

    2. The Templars (NYC, 90s)

    3. Fugazi (DC, 90s)

....and honorable mention: The Clash (UK, 70/80s)

However, I'm really digging Asian pop at the moment. Anyone like the Jpop band Puffy (AmiYumi)? Although they cross many genres, they tend to have an indie rock sound mixed with Japanese cuteness. I saw them last year in SF (@ the Filmore). Their song, "Friends" (Tomodachi), has the same back beat as The Jam's "A Town Called Malice" (played in the movie "Hi Fidelity" with John Cusack).

  7. "That's like our civilization becoming erradicated, along with all the works of Mozart, Beethoven, etc., and the only thing left of us besides a ruined city is a Britney Spears cd that has the power to stop a genocidal war."

I like 'Ai Oboetai Masuka' a lot, but she's right!  It's a pop song, and the analogy is a frighteningly true one, lol.

 Britney Spears??? Never. Maybe Faye Wong...but not Britney.

  8. I put this together already. Here's my advice on building this:

    1) Use 110# card stock paper. this makes for a solid paper monster that you can actually play with if you wish.

2)If you can, print it from a Color Laserjet, not a cheap color printer. Trust me, it's better.

3)If you have photoshop or a similar program, create a page of just the green color and print that on the backside of the printed pages. No white will show in exposed areas.

4)Don't use scissors to cut it. Use a good exacto knife and a ruler. And also, fold with the ruler.

5)Use elmers white glue. Not too many options there, but that stuff just works.

6)Have lots of patience. This thing takes forever to put together right. But when it's done, it looks awesome and it's big. I have friends that still look at it at amazement cause it's all paper. Any questions? :D

Jasonc, I'm filing your post for future reference when I actually have the time to build it.

    Thanks!

  9. I don't remember the link.  But I could email you the files all zipped up.  PM me if you are interested.

BTW, now that I have a little bit of free time, I'd like to tackle this monster.  What paper weight do you guys recommend using?

i'm interested...i'm going to use it as a guide to build a Monster made of Styrene...

    thanks,

    d

Well, I just checked out the size of the zipped file. It's 6.6MB! I'm on 56K dial-up. Not good, it would probably take me 30-60minutes to send it! :(

  10. then robotech the untold story will be impossible to find on internet.

    using a p2p program i found this POPGO][macross_zero][06][GB] [DVDRIP_AC3]

that means there are 6 macross zero episodes?

I don't know what that is, but I'm sure it's no M0 episode 6. They're finishing up making episode 4 now (is it even released yet in Japan??), episode 5 hasn't even been made yet. And my understanding, it's planned as a 5 episode OVA.

  11. Erm, I don't think we should have to make new larger aircraft carriers just because the the F-35 is a lardarse. We can't afford to run a fleet of huge carriers like America has, we're not made of money!  However, there are a couple of new slightly larger carriers in the works and rumor has it that there are also plans for the first British supercarrier but until then Lockheed Martin will just have to a) make the fat git lighter or b) give it a more powerful engine

Oh come on...isn't the Pound stronger than the Dollar?? :p

Have they named the carriers yet? My vote goes to HMS Beckham and HMS Posh Spice. ;)

  12. Since i want to have every single macross or robotech material that there is

    Am I missing anything?

  13. I don't remember the link. But I could email you the files all zipped up. PM me if you are interested.

  14. i don't really remember any screwing going on in that show.

Well in DYRL, there was Protoculture Island. (Oh...the irony.) Remember Misa zipping up her flightsuit when exiting the building and seeing the Macross? And don't forget the scene immediately before that, it's quite obvious what was going to happen next. Of course, DYRL is a family show so no gratuitous scenes, just insinuated. Minmay, "Just what did you and that woman do down there?" ;)

  15. Sheesh...everyone getting worked up on this?  Personally, I've never seen any incarnations of Kite.  I'm surprise of all this hoopla...and no one bats and eye over Eva, especially in EoE. <_<

NGE had some young children in it, occasionally depicted in a sexual manner, but that's really not the same as several graphic scenes depicting full-on intercourse.

Comparing KITE to Evangelion is far more offensive than any hentai. :p

I know, wasn't meant to be a direct comparison. But NGE did depict underage kids (13 y.o. right?) in sexually titillating situations. Isn't that at least borderline "obscenity" according to US laws? I guess Gendo fondling Rei isn't obscene cuz she's a doll right? ;)

Shoot, I bet if showed NGE to a bunch of congressmen, at least a few would have a hissy fit.
