  1. That Ebay auction is a very good deal! Normally these out of production kits go for more like US$45-50 bucks.

    :):):)

Actually, most of the Star Blazers/Space Cruiser Yamato line-up was re-released by Bandai a few years ago so they aren't as rare as they used to be, hense the drop in price...

The Captain Harlock line-up was also re-released by Bandai during the same period, I had just bought an original 80's issue 1/1000 Green Arcadia for 90$ only to find out they where scheduled for re-release within a few months at this price...

  2. Hi all,

Can anyone share their knowledge of the current fair market value/price for each of the following kits below:

    1. Destroid Spartan - IMAI 1/72

    2. Destroid Defender - IMAI 1/72

    3. Destroid Tomahawk - ARII 1/72

    4. Zentraedi Glaug Pod - ARII 1/72

    5. Zentraedi Standard Regult Pod - IMAI 1/72

I know Noel (Blackaces) has some Pods for sale between 70$ and 100$, but I've seen some Pods and Destroids go for more (around 150$+), and some for a lot less (under 50$). So what would you consider a deal/rip-off for each of these?

Second question, why wasn't a Destroid Phalanx made in 1/72 by these companies? I know of a resin kit in 1/72 that goes for crazy $$$, thats it .

I guess I could always modify Tomahawk or Defender legs and scratchbuild the rest and make a Phalanx...:wacko::rolleyes:

Crap!! That's a 2 hour drive from my place!! :p , my Granny lives there!! :D

Hmmmmm... Pay 15$ for shipping?.. or pay 15$ for gas?

    :unsure::huh::unsure::huh:

...did I do a booboo by posting that link?? :(:(:(

AlphaHX, Gundamhead, we could all edit our post to get rid of it?:unsure:

  4. Hello fellow MWers,

I've been looking for a static (not variable) model kit of the VF-4G Fighter Valkyrie in 1/72 scale for a while now. I found out, on ChristopherB's great "Macross complete list of 1/72 kits"*, that a few where made, as follows:

    1. Club-M 1/72 VF-4G "Lightning III" Fighter Valkyrie

    2. Hobby Base/Retppu 1/72 VF-4G "Lightning III" Fighter Valkyrie

    3. Musasiya 1/72 VF-4 "Lightning III" Fighter Valkyrie**

    4. Any more?

Is someone out there able to compare the kits? Like which is more accurate?, what each is made of? (injection plastic, resin cast, vinyl cast), what their current market value is? which is the better build? etc? I want to know which kit I should concentrate on actively seeking out, and I want to base my choice on facts and opinions from the best source available, the expert knowledge only found in the craniums of MWers!!:D

** Is this the "Flashback 2012" kit? or even the Retppu kit repackaged?

Thanks everyone for your input and opinions!!!! :D:D:D

  5. IMHO, yes and no.

Leone was setting the foundation to what was to become the quintessential spaqhetti western formula: "The lone gunman in pursuit of money to the exclusion of all else". So Eastwood could be playing the same guy, but I think it's more like he's playing the same type of guy, he was just so perfect for that/those role(s) that Leone would have been crazy not to exploit it. Same thing with Lee Van Cleef as a bad guy, he was in the last 2 films in the No Name trilogy (It's also known as the "Dollars Trilogy", even though the last* film, Good/Bad/Ugly, doesn't have the word "dollars" in the title, it's still about a guy after money) and he played different roles, he's so awesome in "A Few Dollars More"!!!

I'm pretty positive "Blondie" is Tuco's nickname for Eastwood's character in GBU, as for Joe/Joe Manco, I dunno.

*The only thing, IMHO, that could tie the 3 roles together as the same character is the poncho (and maybe the cigar smoking :p ). Eastwood is wearing the same poncho in the first 2 films but he isn't in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly... at first. He picks it up near a dying soldier just before the cemetary/final shoot out scene, so in a way, this film is actually a prequel to the first 2 $ films.
