  1. hey jay, been watching this thread for a while now and man gotta tell u ur models inspired me. have started working on my own VF-1 and boy it ain't easy, having loads of issues with the leg, inner mechanics and of course transformation. your textures are absolutely stunning, DAMN!! attached are some of the renders i did this morning, as u can tell they are still very wip, please give me some pointers if u could, thx dude! my aim was to keep poly counts low as i have a real crappy machine also working on a Mospeada bike and soilder (the man is imported from Zbrush), also, any c&c are most welcome! 2. grew up in HK and big fan of DYRL here, never herad of its songs dubbed in cantonese or english (bad idea if u asked me), if they did exist i probably wouldn't enjoy them nearly as much as i do the japanese versions. closest thing i could think of is the TV version of macross which aired in HK back in the 80's, dubbed in catonese but the songs are still in japanese.
  3. been crazy with work and a friend getting married, didn't have time to even fire up my computer til this morning, first thing i did was to check this forum. and as always, the work here is freaking awesome! agentex: i feel the same way about my valk on proportions, i've bulked up the shoulders a little bit, the head i'll leave it as it is for now, will see how it holds up further down the road, saw you updates, dude they kick serious ass! doktor: thx for your advice, i had the legs spaced out a bit more and it helped the overall proportion. aztek & the woz: great work! seeing your work makes me wanna up the quality of mine. able to work on it this morning for a few hours, didn't really do much, but managed to work on the arm and hand...here is an update on battroid and fighter, as you can see it's under heavy construction, having serious crashing issues on fighter mode underneath where the arms are, i used the same set of arms on battroid but they just don't fit on fighter without crashing into each other...
  4. thanx agentex! i can't wait to animate this dude either! could you elaborate on your last comment about its proportions? which particular body parts need adjusting? one thing i am not too happy about is its chest being too flat, i tried thicken it a bit but then it looked really off in fighter mode without some scaling down...my objective is to have the final result not looking "off" in all modes without some scaling up/down saw the wip's you posted earlier, they are looking promising man! can't wait til the next update! attached is another image with one more light in the scene so maybe it'd look a bit clearer...
  5. hey gang, have been working on my vf-1s 2 nights in a row, here is where i am so far, so far the chest and lower leg are the biggest problem areas, still not happy with the way they turned out... will post soon, later! ps, sorry for the really bad lighting..don't know much about it..heheh
  6. finally got a few hours tonight so i started my vf-1s, using hasegawa's 1/72 strike valkyrie as reference, i started modeling in fighter mode, after blocking out all of its body parts i tried a little transforming into battroid, then i realized its proportion is a bit different from what i preferred. solution: using the same body parts but modeling in battroid mode, made a few adjustments, and this is where i am at... my main objection is to follow the proportion of the resin model images i posted 2 days ago as closely as possible. c&c welcome!
  7. i should mention that the image of the resin model i just posted can be found on the following site http://ms-room.cside.com/schneidergallery/.../VF1J/VF1J.html by hitoshi hayami
  8. thanks Doktor, im using Maya 6, it's got some artifacts issues, otherwise it's pretty good. i have been looking for references of vf-1's and i like the attached best so i am going to model after it, some adjustments might be nessaccary for it to be transformable tho, will update as soon as i have something to show.
  9. hey all!! i didn't realize there were so many macross fans out there!! spent the last 2 hours looking at every single image on this thread i am in deep shock!! can't wait to see the final composite! not only a loyal macross fan but also a 3d graphics lover, i just have to start modelling one of my all-time favorites, VF-1S the movie version (my current lil RX-78 project just have to wait, heheh!),. i haven't modelled anything nearly as complicated and detailed as the images on this thread but i will give it my best shot. attached is what i have been working on for the past month in my spare time, (sorry for the off topic image but i haven't had any macross related work to show yet) c&c's are always welcome! mind-blowing work on this thread, hope it goes on forever! should pose my first VF-1S wip very soon. jawless, richard
