The legs are great for extreme posing and it holds. The arms, especially at the elbows are a bit floppy.

I just my Max Factory Votoms, The standing turtle mkI and the regular scopedog to be exact. Theyre pretty good figures, but I dont feel they're worth the $40-$60 prices I see mostly online. First of all, theyre 1/35 scale. So theyre pretty small (about 5"). Their cockpits dont open and dont have a pilot(s). Both figures come with multiple hands which snap on and stay on plus their signiture weapons. Initially out of the box the joints are uber tight, but I see them loosening up in the long run. Actually, I had to almost pry the head off the scopedog to allow for articulation. Speaking of articulation, I counted 32 points on the scopedog and 31 on the standing tortoise (only because he doesnt have an actual head) So its very posable (but sometimes cannot hold a pose, finding this out 10 minutes after writing this review) The PVC used is quite sturdy, I almost thought it was styrene. Most of the PVC is painted very well and generously panel lined. Both figures come with stickers/ decals. The lowdown.. Theyre a little pricey and if you have the cash to burn theyre mildy reccomended. (they should priced the same as the revoltechs IMO) But if you want to own one (or two) HLJ has frequent sales on them. (Buy in bulk save on shipping) I think theyre sized perfect for dioramas.

From the pics of the new 1/18 Scopedog SA (with Fayna) it looks like the the fingers are very much articulated. (Just wave your mouse over the pic 2nd from the bottom.)

Thanks for the links. Im still a bit "iffy" about wether to pick this figure up or not. Its huge, a combiner..but the "plain" looking head sort of kills it for me.

The box was in perfect shape. No indication of what was "wrong" inside. I got mine from a "local" online supplier who I trust might be able to help me. So wish me luck. And thanks for the advice.

Perfect Piece Tachikoma Ghost in the Shell

I dont know about those.. But I want want of these. A walking and talking tachikoma!!! a better one. -
My patlabor came in this morning. I was so excited to open it. Taking the styrofoam insert out of the box a quality control paper falls out. I say, hey.. a good sign already. Then I take the figure out slowly out of the styrofoam. The right shoulder is already dislodged, but hey.. I snap it back on... Then I notice that the replacable front shoulder plate comes off!! The peg that connects it is broken!!! Looking it over, this clamp thing under the on-off switch is broken, I find the broken piece in the styrofoam tray. I say..ok. what else.. I start looking it over again.. I find chipped paint already where the hatch opens to store the gun. This thing maybe diecast, but the plastic parts really suck. And Quality control? I dont mind paint chipping if I did it, but not even a minute out of the box..I see that. It sticks out so much cuz you can see the dark metal under that white enamel. Figuring how much I paid for this figure... Arrrrggh!!! Im not looking forward to any legioss figures at all. In fact no more CM's. Bandai, Takara and maybe yamato for me from now on.

Perfect Piece Tachikoma Ghost in the Shell

Here's a description of the Mega House Tachikoma. No mention of Diecast. I think there was alot of confusion between this one and the "Good Smile" Version. Still, Im gonna get it... So yeah, It might include a Motoko figure but that might be a solid piece. Anyone with a review, yet? -

I think its the Megahouse one he's talking about. Rumorville is saying that there's no diecast content whatsover in this figure (they said it did) but the plus side is that motoko is actually included (articulated!!) and fits inside the tachikoma. Now, I also heard a company called "good smile" is putting out a perfect piece tachikoma also. With different pics floating around the net, I dont know which one is which.. Anyone have pics? -
Found this review of Max 1/35's with a (wonky) translation but has great pics!! Here's one with pics of the turbo custom. Here's some samples: Not bad for a tiny 1/35 huh? Enjoy!!

Now, Im not sure but I think Fayna's upcoming space assault scopedog has articulated fingers. Im hoping theyre going to improve a little on this too. My takara strikedog has an actual rotating Head thats locked in and doesnt fall off. Check it out here. Its coming soon!!

Ahem, I'll take a crack at it since I have both.. Pros for the Yamato: No (visible) screw holes. Detailed removable panels with lots of funky interior detailing. Its huge!! Nicely articulated!! Cons: No pilot (booooo!!) Expensive accessories (yamato trade mark). Loose , floppy joints. Very "toy-like". Takes up alot of space!! Did I mention there's no pilot? lolz. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pros for Takara: Almost as detailed as the Yamato and does almost everything the yamato's does. Takes up less space on the shelf. Less use of the mold. (vast difference between scope dog and strikedog in terms of size and molding vs Yamato's repaints). Has a pilot!!!! Very durable, nothing falls off. Nicely weathered. Cons: Has screw holes (but comes with plugs for the lower legs). Some parts dont fit together well, but its bearable. Just a little expensive for a toy this size IMO but still affordable. (for those with disposable incomes) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My winner is the Takara Votoms. Though Im venturing into new territory by getting the Max factory ones.. Still, its your call. good luck!!

They have the 1/35 turbo custom scopedog for $17.42 if anyone's intrested. Start Your own platoon while supplies last!! Not as great as Yamato's and Takara's but the next best thing if your thinking about space and variety (e.g. Standing Tortoise and Blood sucker) I wish they'd come out with a "Diving beetle" though. Anyone have an "official" review of these babies?

Mine came in too. Its not as bad as everyone thinks. Most people are probably put off with this figure cause of its size... It is about 5.5 inches.. almost as tall as the Walker Gallia if not taller. It looks to be 1/72 scale looking at its pilot. Im not sure if any of the armor has any metal content but the upper joints, lower chest and most of the lower endoskeleton is metal, so thats enough for me. The plus sides of this figure is its sculpt and posablity. Its one of those figures you cant really judge just by looking at pictures of it on the net. The stand is a neat plus as you can pose it in almost any (flying) angle. The sound effects are so-so but I dont understand what theyre saying (help someone?) in japanese. It looks like you have to push buttons in some sort of sequence to get different "phrases" and "sound effects". I thought that little green (blue?) sphere on its base would light up.. to simulate it being engulfed it energy just like the show.. but alas no. (unless there's a sequence of buttons one has to push) That voice might be the Layzner's AI pilot but Im not sure (Werent there 2 on-board AI's?) Sorry for lack of pics but there is a 1/48 scale version of it here if anyone's intrested. (its a model) I would of prefered it this size but Im happy with it. Paid 85 USD (including shipping) and gets a 8/10 score.

And the most important question.... How much metal is there in the Aquarion?
-
Just got mine today. Its freakin sweet!! It was murder getting the styrofoam out of the box though Speaking of blood, becareful putting those fist spikes on. I slipped when I was putting them on and a couple of spikes stabbed me under my cuticles!!! OUCHness!!!! yessss I bled and there was pain (not that I enjoyed it hehehe) This is my first Aoshima, though its not up to par with Bandai SOC's engineering, it comes close. And talk about SOUL....Its about 80% diecast and has lots of heft to it. I just wish there was a little more articulationn at the hips and feet though. And maybe it would of been nice if it came with a base/stand and a severed dinosaur head.. Other than that, its nicely designed/sculpted/painted and there's no mistaking that there's Go Nagai written all over it. I rate it 7/10 removing 3 points for bleeding...

And its really hard to take out (the shoulder armor) once its in there. It sort of "snaps" in, so you might need some finger nails. Again, my only qualms about this figure is I wish it came with some battle damage armor, a more posable neck joint and a coulple of extra heads (in either form) with some organic looking teeth.
-
There's actually some diecast in there. The majority of the thigh armor and all of the calf armor. There's some in the chest armor as well. As for the shoulder joint (it was my concern as well) the shoulder armor (either ones) actually reinforce that joint. And the way its "locked" in by the armor there's no way of moving it in a "wrong" direction.

I wish I could read what he said though. Is it really small? (5.5 inches?) It would of been nice if he had a comparison pic..even if its next to a soda can.
