  1. Man... please avoid the "R" word with kits still in production.

Ditto. Thats an easy way to beg Hasegawa not to make anymore kits for Macross fans.

Why are you recasting a kit that costs like... 20 bucks anyways?

  2. Wow, nice custom mod though!

Yup. Very sweet indeed. Heres a picture of it in the other modes.

    Thanks at all...

but exist a similar yf21/vf22 variable kit or toy (not yamato)?

Theres a few actually. All resin kits and cost an arm and a leg. Some more than others. Are you willing to spend a good amount?

The ones I know of is the 1/100 IHP YF-21, 1/?? (Somewhere between 1/100 and 1/72) SHE YF-21, and the infamous 1/72 D'stance YF-21 that some ppl will probably kill for. :p

All of those are variable. The IHP kit should be quite rare and should cost a pretty penny. I havent really seen one being sold so I wouldnt know how much it is. The SHE kit is around $200 range. The D'stance is... heck if I know... probably well over a $1000.

  3. I still have my 1/72 Hasegawa YF-19 Battroid kitbash I'm working on. I also have a Glaug and Q-Rau somewhere that I'm working on with my girlfriend. Thats on the back back back back burner tho.

Everyone whos posted should post pictures of their incomplete work. It'll be interesting. Especially half done kitbashes. ;):p

  4. Thats a kitbash that someone made from the Hasegawa YF-21 fighter kit. The guy made it transformable. To make things simple and short, that kit doesnt exist... anywhere. The one you see is the one and only.

There is a conversion kit for the YF-21 fighter kit to make it into a battroid. IMO, the legs are a bit short but as for now... theres really nothing else. Its a resin kit and its something somewhere along the lines of costing 300 dollars or more.

  5. So, how is this going to work? Are we just placing our orders at the same time? I'd like to get in on this...once I decide which one of these Macross boxes I want.

Will the SDF Macross box hold all 9 dvds and DYRL? I couldn't find a full description on the site.

If I remember correctly it should hold 12 dvds. The 9 SDF dvds, dyrl, flashback, and the 20th aniversary dvd. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

  6. It wasn´t until later that the sponsors told him that they wanted him to do a TV series focused on modern japanese culture (J-pop , pacifism , rockstars , etc...) to appeal to a younger audience and he could get more support for Macross Plus ,so he accepted and M7 was born.

Back that statement up with some sources, please.

    Ditto. :)

  7. The funny thing is that the most obvious similarity about the yamato and SHE kit are the SHE wrong nosecone, canopy and these too big and completely wrong intakes/legs. They changed what was great and kept what was ugly...

I dont mind the canopy on the SHE kit. It actually looks pretty close to the lineart. The nose... yeah... quite off but I'm assuming thats one of the compromises made for the battroid. The LS nose looks too sharp. The more I look at certain things about the LS kit the more off it seems. :(

The front fin thing looks off compared to the lineart and the top thruster "feet" part looks upside down.

I liked it so much in fighter mode too. I just never took a close look at it. Oh well... it isnt like I couldve gotten my hands on one anyways. :p

Was the YF-19 SHE a model or a resin kit ?

Resin kits are model kits. It just uses resin instead of injection plastic. But to answer ur question, its a resin kit.

A comparison pic to show what I'm talking about...

  8. Oh yeah, and AlphaHX, where in the world did you get those chibi pics of valkgirls? I want more of them!!!

I just found them on the net. Forgot where. I think some Japanese site where I couldnt read any of the text. :p

Anyways, I found out that I had another one...

Same thing as the other VF-1S tho... just a Minmay Guard this time. ;)

  9. If youre going to use the Bandai kit as your base kit... unfortunately I'll have to pass on the interest of recasting it. Its just too chunky for my taste. Why use a SHE kit? I would be sad to see such a nice kit to be used to kitbashing. I would rather just recast the SHE kit and call it a day. That isnt a good idea either tho. :(

You could still do it... and see how it comes up and see if people want it. If not, it'll still be nice on ur part to have a nice kitbash. Just like Battroid 19. I didnt really make it for it to be recasted but I offered to make another one if enuf ppl wanted it to be recasted. If not, oh well... I still get a YF-19 Battroid that I'm please with. :D

What were you planning to do? If theres going to be any kitbashing involving a YF-19, I really think the Hasegawa model should still be the base kit. Just my 2 cents...

Gluck with that tho. Definitely post it up. I would like to see it. ;)

  10. If you want to use the Bandai kits for the conversion, the problem is that you need BOTH of them. You need the wings and front stablizer things from the VF-19 Kai. Then you need the head and gunpod from the VF-19S/F.

You dont have to save a thousand dollars. Just a couple hundred and you can get the Studio HalfEye YF-19.

I think the best way to approach it would be the way I made my YF-19 battroid. Kitbash a Hasegawa to make it transformable and use parts here and there from the Bandai kits such as arms, cod piece, joints, etc. I was considering it but... it looks friggin hard to make a transformable kit.

  11. SHE is definitely one of the my favorites...

They found some good compromises... and on top of that, they designed a leg that folds away so it could look skinnier in figher mode but fatter in battroid mode. Genius idea imo.

So there is a way to make a skinny figher and fat battroid. Its probably just difficult to make a toy that does this in 1/72 scale. Plus... that requires a lot of movable parts. If only Yamato would make it in 1/48...

  12. Anyways, back to topic...

My only gripe with the liquid stone is the battroid mode. The battroid mode just looks... wrong. I must say tho... the fighter mode is DAMN good looking. Its pretty much rivaling the Hasegawa model in terms of accuracy imo.

So far my favorite transformable YF-19 is the kitbashed Hasegawa in Model Graphix.
