1. He's right, let's get back onto talking about the YF-19's codpiece not being big enough.

    Resume topic please.

It needs to be smaller. Im jealous.:lol::lol:

edit: anyone think they'll allow us to mount the gun behind the shield?

  2. Again, making 3 mode variable valks is a delicate balancing act... With the yf-19, it's like spinning 100 plates all together in some chinese circus...

If the chest support shrinks it'll look off with the 'longer-than-lineart' chest... to fix this they'd have to shorten the nose of the fighter, which then would make the fighter look stubby and demented... and as dave mentioned, if the crotch peice is bigger, then so will the already ballooned gull neck... and on and on...

Honestly at this point in production, I think the only thing about now that yamato will change is color, and the slight tweaks to the mold for any unsightly gaps... So I wouldn't expect or even hope for any of these changes you mentioned... sorry Alpha~

I understand that you're a battroid fan, but there are fans of the yf-19's fighter mode here in droves... Yamato in my opinion did an EXCELLENT, F-ing AWESOME job balancing the three modes and making them all look fanatastic. This version looks much better than the hasegawa kit bash, even better overall in my opinion, than the supernova kit...

Barring any major QC issues, this is hands down the best variable yamato has produced so far.

Whoa, okay... I didnt mean to offend anyone here and come off as some nit picky nut case. Everyone seems to think that i hate it or something. I dont, I think the balance is great. Also just to clarify some more, I'm not a huge fan of just the battroid mode. I just think the other two modes look absolutely stunning and probably couldnt get much better. I just felt the battroid mode could use some work. I'm not expecting any changes, my original post was to ask if anyone else was bothered by it. I already preordered mine and I think yamato did a great job.

By shortening the support piece I understand the nose will look like its sticking out a lot. My solution that I wanted was to angle the nose to give the illusion that its not portruding as much. I didnt actually want to shorten the actual nose itself. I made another picture to show what I'm trying to say. Obviously I couldnt adjust everything but I hope it gets the idea across. I didnt shrink the body or nose in any way, shape, or form. I just angled it down, then made the support piece (the part underneath the nose) shorter. My main point was to make the support piece shorter, well... that and the cod piece couldve been bigger but since everyone can clearly see that its thinner than the lineart, yamato probably probably took that into account already and there probably wasnt much they could do.

Right. I've also come to accept that some things are just not possible, and consider that before making criticisms.

Please dont get me wrong. I've considered that. Angling the nose isnt out of possibility. If you look at the transformation of the 19, the nose angle isnt determined by alot and it doesnt affect a lot of the other parts. I understand by lowering the nose, the upper body will angle too. The neck will need some adjusting but besides that and some other minor changes, its all in the realm of being possible. Will it look better? Will it look closer to the lineart? Thats a matter of opinion and preference. Like David said, he might look a bit hunched back. Personally, i didnt think it would be that drastic but if hes right about that, I'll have to admit, itll definitely be a poor choice on my part to make the change.

Anyways, I thought this was going to be a simple question. I just didnt expect a reaction like this. I know i know, i shouldve clarified more. Like i said, my fault. I was just curious if anyone else was bothered by it. I wasnt implying I didnt like it or that i wasnt grateful that yamato took the the time to design a new 19. If it came exactly how it looked in the picture, i'll be fine with it. I was just being bothered by the support piece and was curious if anyone felt the same way.

Btw, does anyone know how the gunpod fits onto the fighter mode?

    post-2208-1160233059_thumb.jpg

  3. Hmm, alright, u guys kinda misunderstood. Sorry about that, my fault. I shouldve clarified in the post. The reason why i wanted it to be more angled is to make it seem like the nose doesnt look like it isnt sticking out as far out so they can shrink down the support piece underneath the nose to make it seem closer to the lineart. My main concern was the support piece, not the angle of the nose cone. I'm not gonna nit pick at a few degrees of a nose cone. Cuz the way i see it is that the reason they made the support piece so big is to make it more flush with the nose cone since it portrudes a lot more than it does in the lineart. I just want them to shrink down the nose support piece a bit.

As for the cod piece, i can see how it can be a problem for fighter mode if its made thicker. Still wish they could do something tho. Wishful thinking i guess.

  4. Am I the only one whos bothered by this? Red Circle - If they just dipped down the nose a bit and made the support piece underneath the nose a bit smaller, imo it would be completely perfect. Since I havent seen the it, I cant say how hard it would be to make that change but I'm assuming its doable. Green Circle - This isnt a biggie but I would mind if the cod piece was a bit thicker like in the lineart. Does eveyone else think it looks fine the way it is?

  5. i'm bringing this back from the dead to hopefully hear some news about these heads....

i really want a 1/60 VF-1S head for my max and i'd hate to post in the wanted section for the regular 1S head when these are SOOOO much better.

    Alpha??? still around????

Hey people... I still lurk around here and there. Rarely had the time to stick around and post much these days. The recaster I sent it to had other plans and couldnt recast the head. I actually only got it back a couple of months ago and I havent really actively been looking for another recaster. If someone is willing to recast it, I'll gladly send the head to them.

edit: Another problem is that when I got the head back, I realize I was missing the screw for the head so I dont have that anymore either. If someone can help me find an extra screw for the head, that'll be nice too.

  6. The first post will be the master list and I will add to it new kits you guys suggest as well as post the number of kits wanted for any individual model.

Oops, count me in for the these too. I didnt know you were keeping a count on each kit. ^_^

  7. After reading these posts, it made me wonder what types of fast packs that I like. People mentioned the how the VF-1 fast packs beef it up and makes it look more aggressive, powerful, etc. After thinking about it, I actually like the beefier fastpacks more than the YF-19/21 dinky minor fast packs. Especially in battroid mode. Goes the same with the VF-0. I actually like it with it on. I felt the VF-0 in battroid mode looked a bit skinny so with the fast pack to beef it up, it looked a lot better to me. Odd thing is I still like sleek smooth looking planes...

When it comes to being useful, etc. I definitely say fast pack on. They make it seem like the fast pack makes them so much faster and for me... the faster the better! The only exception of not looking faster with the fast packs are the YF-19 and 21. It just seems like more firepower than anything else. Still a plus tho. :D

  8. I searched around and I couldnt find a thread on this but sorry if this has been done before.

I was just wondering, which do most ppl prefer? Do most ppl like fast packs on their valk or does it depend on which valk it is or what mode its in?

My favorite valks are the VF-1, YF-19, and YF-21. For the 19 and 21 I prefer the fast packs. For the VF-1, I'm a bit torn. I like the fast pack on when it comes to the battroid and gerwalk mode but every once in awhile I prefer no fast packs on the fighter mode.

    What do you guys think?

  9. Please add "whytwolf" to the blacklist.

I lent him a 1/72 Q-Rau about a year ago and he was going to use it to make a TV Q-Rau conversion but not only did he not follow through, he never returned my 1/72 Q-Rau. I've sent him a few PMs/Emails in the past several months and he hasnt responded to a single one of them. I've waited long enough and I think he belongs on the blacklist.

  10. Quick off-topic question: In what episode of the series did the GBP appear?

    379274

Should be episode 9 I think. Its the Miss Macross one.

  11. I mentioned a while back that I was pretty burnt out on the Monster project.  And I'm curious... How many people still want one?

I'm guessing that the Yamato toy killed a lot of the demand for it.  So I'm really wondering how many I'd have to make to finish the project.

    377720

    I'd still like one...

  12. I'm with Sithlord. A Light grey would look better than hospital-wall green.

PHotoshoppers, can you change the lime to grey for us to see? (I'm so lazy)

    376348

    Here ya go...

    post-2208-1141436189_thumb.jpg

  13. Wow, Yamato doesnt really do anything Macross related for several years and BAM, a billion new releases. I hope that means Yamato realizes that Macross is highly profitable and will continue making more toys! :)

  14. My initials are "AH" and when I used to play arcade games back in the day, I put AHX for the score initials. The "X" being there just to fill up the last spot.

So when making a screen name, I picked Alpha from "YF-19 - Alpha One" (my favorite valk) from Macross Plus. The "H", like I said is my last name initial... and the "X" was just there from my gaming days. So... yeah, nothing special about mine either.

  15. Because Alpha X this is something that I personally as well as a very small number of individuals who agree with me would want. Just think of it as a win-win situation for me and those who insist that the VF-1 remain the same. However, it made me wish that SK could have done a redesign of his VF-1 under his own will instead of making me feel more inclined to force him to do so. But under this circumstance, I don't feel that something has to be redesigned unless it's necessary. Also Alpha X when you say that why should SK redesign something that wouldn't affect the series, I would say maybe just for the hell and beauty of it. A perfect example I could think of would be agin with Hajime Katoki's Wing Gundam Kai design. I assume that he decided to redesign the original wing gundam simply because he probably felt that he could make it look better. That's the same way I feel about the VF-1 where I feel that I could make it look better as well. However I also realized that he shouldn't redesign his VF-1 unless it was for a legitamate reason and intentional purpose.

    BTW Sdf-1 I'm actually 18 years old

    375985

Umm... I sorta get it I guess. I'm not a big Gundam guy but did Hajime Katoki redesign Wing Gundam for a new series, ova or movie?... or was it some random replacement where one day he just stated that he created a new design for the Wing Gundam?

I guess what most people are saying is that SK probably did want to redesign the VF-1 and thats why VF-0 was made. Since technically it looks pretty similar and transforms the same way. Would you have been happier if in Macross Zero, they called the VF-0, VF-1 and claim that it was a redesign?

Also I said nothing of affecting the series. I just dont see the effect... period. Basically, all I was saying if theyre gonna redesign the VF-1, they should use it in something... you know, like in a new series, ova, manga, movie, etc.

Oh, and btw, its AlphaHX. ;)

  16. I'm not positive on what the problem is with picture attachments but I cant attach a picture thats too hi res. At first I thought it was a file size problem but I was able to post a picture that was larger in file size but lower res than my hi res picture and it attached. If this is the case, I think it should be fixed.

I dont think the resolution matter since the forum makes it into a thumbnail and file size is what matters when it comes to the server.

  17. I'm subdividing the BGI collection, to make specific montages. I'll start with the girls - here are the best Miriya images.

The attachment button wasn't uploading (?)

    371649

Nice! Thanx for sharing. Keep them coming! :D

As for the attachment button, I've had the same problem. Thats why some of my pictures are linked and some are attached images. If anyone knows whats wrong, I would liek to know how to fix it. :(
