  1. Looking for one of these in never-removed-from-box condition (or close to it), somewhere in the $80 range or so. Please contact me if you got one. I'm willing to discuss price/condition.

    Thanks.

Bump. Still looking for this. Let me know if you've got it. Thanks!

  2. would instructions on how to fix your current arm be enough? I have the parts in jetfire color but the fix is simple.

Sure, I'd really appreciate instructions for the fix. Thanks!

I took the arm apart and coated the inside track areas with nail polish, which stopped the fist from sliding too much. But I have no idea how to get it to "click" into place. I assumed it was just a molding defect.

coated the inside with nail polish... can't hurt I guess. You took the arm apart so what I'm about to say should make sense. The back of the hand has a "V" shaped piece with a nub on each side. The "nub's" are what clicks in place. Normally I have to make them looser, not tighter, but the premise is the same. Warm the fist up... hot water for a few minutes, micrewave for a few seconds, sunshine for a while, etc. Once it's kinda warm just spread the "V" slightly and let it cool. You don't have to warm it but pliable plastic is less prone to breakage. Easiest way would probably warm it and wedge a pencil, screwdriver, or anything that would spread it slightly and leave it that way for a little while. To lossen one just use a vice or rubber band. Hopefully what I say makes sense. If not I can always take pics... I need to dismantle an arm anyways.

which fist... right or left? Take your time and be gentle but don't be to nervous as I can always trade fists with you if you damage it to much. Yeah... I said trade... I'd rather a broken/messed up part than no part at all

    edit in...

ya know... I should have just sold him an extra arm and made some money

Thanks very much, Kanata. I never thought about softening and then bending the hard plastic. That's a good tip.

It's the right fist, the gun fist, by the way. Both my VF-1S and VF-1A Hikaru reissues have the same loose right fists.

  4. The fist on my VF-1S reissue (right arm) is a bit loose. Doesn't really click into place. So I'm looking really for a replacement arm or fist, but I'll take a whole loose/boxed VF-1S as well, depending on the price.

    Thanks!

  5. Thanks, Nightmare! Will try that out.

I recently bought several Bandai 1/55 reissues, and of them all, the VF-1S (regular, not super) is the only one with a sticky paint job/finish. Can anyone suggest a way to remedy this, or is it a normal thing for this particular reissue?

They were all brand new, BTW.

    Thanks!

Try using Armour All (car interior protectant). Spray it lightly on a paper towel and rub it on softly. After you have finished completey rubbing the valk down, just leave it for about a day and a half. Not only will this UV protectant help keep your paint from remaining sticky it will also giveit a nice clean look.

I tried this on a STRIKE, VE-1, and VT-1...worked like a charm. Plus, I think it smells nice too.

BTW- It will not leave a heavy or greasy film. Just remember to wipe it down and leave it alone, as previously described. ;)

  7. and in robot mode:

There's some paint flaking on the intakes, so those are undoubtedly metal.

Looking at the rest of that pic, some of the parts seem a bit glossy and the edges bulge a bit near the seams. (classic signs of die-cast) I'd say the upper legs and lower torso are also metal. Probably the lower legs as well.

I can't see anything else that looks like metal to me; besides the screws and maybe the shoulder and knee joints.

Looks great now. I'm impressed. Though, as nicely as they hid some of those Imai joints, with the reduction to 1/55th scale those joints must be very small now. I suspect this thing will be a bit delicate. Especially around the wings.

    Not long now.

Yeah, the potentially weak/delicate joints are a concern of mine, too. I had a chance to handle a sample at the Toynami booth at Anime Expo, and while the fighter mode seemed to lock up pretty tight, the robot mode had some joints that, due to their extremely small sizes, seemed to be easily breakable: the neck joint, the wrists, the fingers, the shoulder (where the arms swing back to transform to fighter). The rest of it seemed pretty tight, though I wonder how well the knee and arm joints will handle repeated transformations. I miss ratcheted joints.
