    Ah yes Turn A, the series that was meant as a glorious finale to the franchise, but no. Instead we get a steam punk talk anime filled with references to other Tomino anime as far back as Raideen and they just slapped the Gundam name on for market value. But hey, it HAD to reference other timelines, right? So just stick some UC technology, a few G Gundam references, and a second of footage from Wing and BOOM, "Turn A". Not even anything from X, how pathetic. Say what you will about SEED and Destiny but they at least DID manage to amalgamate all the previous timelines and technologies, making the Cosmic Era more Turn A than Turn A could turn. Tomino lost his mojo after Garzey's Wing since every anime after that was very lackluster (Brain Powerd, Turn A, King Gainer, Wings of Rean).

    Just saw the second episode. At first I thought this was going to devolve into a talking series, but then the scenery visuals started showing off (and they were amazing to say the least), kind of like Vivi Dred with a bigger budget. I haven't seen scenery visuals this good in a TV series since Heroic Age (although Aquarion Evol came close even though it has the best CGI in an anime to date). And then, just when I thought there would be nothing else I could get from this series, PIRATES. THEY THREW IN PIRATES. WITH JETSKIS AND KITES. HOW IS THIS NOT AWESOME? First you have mechs. Then it is given the Starship Troopers treatment. Then we have space nautiluses (I will admit that Hidiaazu is a weird name for them). Then amazing settings. AND NOW PIRATES! All that with a first episode that was genuinely solid! Not bad, okay, tolerable, meh, horrendous, goofy, kind of good, ectetra, I mean genuinely SOLID. That is so rare! Plus it is creative in it's own right (I have never seen beam weapons go through glass while unharming it and it manages to vaporize a target). I'd call this anime perfect so far but NOOOOOOOOO, it just had to have bad opening and ending themes! The opening theme is worse since it sounds so similar to the opening theme of Goldran to the point I actually got curious to see if it had the same singer/main human character voice actress. It does not, but that did not make it any less bad. I hope it does not end up like Diebuster, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Gundam 00, or Heroic Age where it starts getting less and less interesting but it looks so pretty that you have no choice but to give it a 10/10 because of it; fortunately it is only 12 episodes so maybe that won't happen. I mean MECHA WITH PIRATES. Also a minor complaint I have, more of a nitpick really, why do the women have abnormally rosy cheeks? Vivi Dred had the same issue and I'm amazed nobody else has brought it up. It just seems ugly and creepy.

    I just finished the Trigun movie. Why couldn't the series be more like this? There was less comedy (even if it was terrible what little there was) and more action to it. Plus I like the new look, it is very similar to the recent VOTOMS ovas. I also thought Wolfwood died in the series, but oh well.

    As someone that has been an an NGE board for 2.5 years they don't care about that anywhere near as much as the blatant translations errors (specifically the one where "angels are just different types of humans"). Both terms seem natural to me.

    I'd rather have accuracy all the way through when at all possible, preferable perfect translations with the sole exception of trying to understand puns with subtitle notes at the top or something. Some things you just should not tweak no matter how tempting.

    I made that part as a joke, but since you insist Banshee (even if I have nowhere else to make it). Seriously though, I don't see why someone would call the non-Y chromosome humans in this series cute; I'm somewhat tempted to make a macro of Rapeman going "0/10, would not fap". Come to think of it, everything outside mech designs seems ultra-generic and to an extent seems Unicorn Gundam-ish.

    Is it not obvious? They snuck onto the mecha talk forums, saw how Strike Zero, Destiny Gundam, and Kuruni loved calling girls cute every other topic, and animated that fan service bit just for them! Also trying to annoy me by saying "lol call our girls cute, DG!" to which I reply "No, plushies are cute, those half-monkeys are things I'd use for target practice on a gun range!" Then Ryujin throws an insult, ShadowCell face palms, and the ending credits roll as the next episode preview foreshadows things. Or someone on staff is trying really hard to gain the attention of people attracted to middle schoolers....... Or maybe pedos, I don't know what age they are or the exact intention and as long as there is very little of it I don't care.

    Once people actually get subs, even if only HK ones, I'll give them consideration (especially Polymer). I am amazed nobody has made any comments about how weird my scores or rankings or anything are, does that mean I'm part of the group now or do I have to show the last sixth of the list?

    Here is the list of every anime I rank a 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 out of 10, you'll see many old school classics in them with a few modern stuff here and there. 70s stuff I'll put in bold to make it easier. By the way * = Good first episode, it is so rare in anime that when it does happen I have to put it one next to the title so I don't forget.

    Many of my favorite anime are from the 1970s so age is not an issue with me.

    If watching a bunch of stuff all my life has taught me anything it is that it is a good idea to watch the first entries in franchises and work your way through production order rather than jump into later ones no matter how standalone.

    Title says all. I just got back from seeing it, easily the best of the franchise and it had me laughing from beginning to end. This has to be one of the funniest movies I have ever seen in my life.
