  1. Do not forget to tell your mother you love her! Happy mother's day everybody, time for episode 15.

The episode begins with everyone in awe about the spirit of Lacroa with Baku making fun of it before getting fried.

    sd1501.png~original

    NO MOUTH HOLE.

After Zero pokes fun at Baku, we see the Superior Defenders testing out a flying machine with a Chinese version of Dr. Eggman in charge.

    sd1502.png~original

That amazing balance between genius and crazy is with this man.

The doctor, who's name escapes me, says the flying machine is not ready. Meanwhile, the Dark Axis gains jet packs in the forms of gallops or drops or whatever the hell the Earth Federation used as transport ships in the original MSG that Colonel Matilda died in from the Black Tri-Star attack.

    sd1503.png~original

The poor kids in California are missing out.

Just as they are about to carry out their flying attack, two zakus were dumb enough to spill control horns over a fancy yellow Kamousai. This causes it to go out of control, go through the zakurello gate, and Z2, G2, and D2 have to follow it unless the commander fries their circuit board. (and yes he actually says that)

    sd1504.png~original

Not to be confused with people from /k/.

Back at the Neotopia outskirts we see Baku trying to befriend the spirit only to annoy the little fur-ball.

    sd1505.png~original

    Sponsored by Snuggy laundry detergent.

After Baku and Zero get burned, Commander Haro tells them of the invaders. The four heroes and GunBike use transport ships, despite the fact Zero himself can fly, to bring the out of control Kamousai down. That is until the reflector bits get in the way.

    sd1506.png~original

    They must have internal mirrors.

The spirit of Lacroa follows and tries to use it's flamethrower only for the Kamousai to not be a steel type and take the guy in it's left cannon. Because of this desperation, Commander Haro tells the doctor from earlier to launch the new SD Force member GunEagle.

    sd1507.png~original

Abusing your employees is not all that universal.

The new GunEagle launches, who is basically Nu Gundam with the double fin carriers of it's Heavy Weapons System Type variant. I was going to show a shot of this guy launching from the catapult, but this was too weird to leave out.

    sd1508.png~original

Dubbing for children sure is whacky.

GunEagle tries to do the job himself by unloading his fire power onto the Kamousai.

    sd1509.png~original

This is some serious fire power.

Once the reflector bits turn the tides, however, GunEagle falls back and gets introduced to the team while being informed of the spirit of Lacroa. After insulting Zero and GunBike, he heads toward the rampaging vehicle again and tries to use missiles.

    sd1510.png~original

The fourth movie shall be your salvation.

Thanks to CG's help the bits are destroyed, but GunEagle still cannot rescue the spirit inside. D2 comes along and causes the Kamousai to go into a tailspin by blasting at it. GunEagle quickly fights the three commanders.

    sd1511.png~original

Some versions changed it to "have a little fun" because of silly children.

After that, CG tells GunEagle to go after the spinning vehicle at high speed, which causes him to defy the laws of physics and deflect it.

    sd1512.png~original

Because it looks cool to do it that way.

GunEagle uses his beam saber to rescue the spirit and the Kamousai blows up.

    sd1513.png~original

Coming to save the mother loving day now. (it is Mother's Day after all)

GunEagle gets rescue by Baku as he runs out of energy, the spirit is returned, they name the fur-ball Fan/Fang/Thang/I don't know exactly, and the new member gets burned for insulting the little guy as everyone else laughs. The Zakozako Hour talks about the new jet packs and how fun they seemingly are.

  2. Good news everyone! I found more episodes! The bad news is that the uploader thought it was funny to advertise a site, oi. I can't control it and it comes up at random times so this might get annoying.

    hehthatslife.png~original

You heard the cutesy and mispronounced Cerberus, lets dive the hell in! No less than four of this season's anime will be reference, all of which I started watching since the last review!

The episode begins with the three gundams and Shoot talking about the spirit egg they retrieved from the last episode.

    sd1401.png~original

Nobody really knows if the chicken that laid it also had a crystalline birth canal.

As they are talking about it, Baku tries to make a heartfelt speech since they left the oa trio behind.

    sd1402.png~original

Inspiration for Justin Bieber? Not ruling out no since this.

After Zero talks about only he should handle the spirit egg, Baku starts making rude comments about how better he is.

    sd1403.png~original

Technically he said "ha", but oh well.

The two of them needlessly fight while Commander Haro tells Captain Gundam about invaders in the area. The arguing goes on until a pair of zakus posing as Fox News reporters appear in the distance.

    sd1404.png~original

Still not as ugly as the hags from Valvrave and Gargantia.

Everyone except Baku don't fall for their disguise and try to humor them in playing alone as they start this clips how with Shoot.

    sd1405.png~original

I am pretty sure they are more interested in the ones from the Cosmic Era.

After Shoot's, Zero has one of him being surprisingly prideful with the zakus showing their own clips.

    sd1406.png~original

The devil is a part timer that handles cameras and yes I just referenced that series.

Zero is shown his many failures before Bakumetsumaru starts being prideful himself and shows off his clip show of manly glory.

    sd1407.png~original

Yet he still has not figured out why /u/ keeps going into /m/ boards recently.

After Baku gets his moment of shame, Zero makes some insults and the two duel while accidentally switching their weapons.

    sd1408.png~original

At least there will be no silly rose spamming.

Meanwhile, Shoot gets the zakus to reveal the Dark Axis base and the existence of the unnamed commander all while Commander Haro records the whole thing.

    sd1409.png~original

Real shame they cannot pass for bridge bunnies.

Now with all four current season anime references out of the way.... The zakus are uncovered, with Baku surprised, and they try to run away only to be surrounded.

    sd1410.png~original

Not even a Mexican standoff if you were drunk on Cinqo de Mayo.

Suddenly, the spirit egg hatches and forms some floating furry creature that kind of looks like Ghogo from Rebirth of Mothra 2.

    sd1411.png~original

Could we not get a Dagahra equivalent instead?

The zakus get a face full of "mouth" fire (yeah, it isn't there, but that is the area it comes from) and they flee. Shoot makes a comment on it looking like a stuffed animal Nana (his baby sister) has and it turns on them, ending the episode.

    sd1412.png~original

Fan fiction sometimes does it better.

After the zakozako hour explains a little of the dimensional physics involved the episode ends.

  3. Don't complain then if you don't understand why some anime can win the anime grand prix.

I didn't even know how they won.

Sayoran was a popular character and I'm sure the card game element helped.

I haven't seen a card game so far, just hunting them like a knockoff of Pokemon. I also don't see how Li being popular would have helped, that's like saying boys would watch Sailor Moon because it has a male character in it. I honestly don't get the logic in that.

That show still has a massive fujoshi following

I thought we were talking about general popularity, not the otaku crowd.

  4. I started watching The Devil is a Part Timer yesterday because people seem to be flipping out and can't stop talking about it. I thought I was going to get slice of life junk, but this ended up to be kind of good. The disturbing part? I am enjoying this so far much more than anything I got out of Majestic Prince of Valvrave. Speaking of those two WOW are they just not trying. MJP waited until the first quarter of the series was over before going "oh yeah, we have villain characters too!" YOU WAIT THIS LONG JUST TO GIVE US RIDICULOUS HIJINKS THAT AMOUNT TO NOTHING!? GAH! At least it is trying, Valvrave on the other hand has very little action in it and the characters are so bad I almost want to drop this series. Hell, I dare say Gundam Age has better non-Y chromosome half monkeys than this does. And that music video, FRICK, I did NOT get interested in this series for garbage like that. This is an anime from KUNIO OKAWARA FOR FRICK SAKE! HE IS LEGENDARY, HIS MECHS DESERVE BETTER THAN TRASH LIKE THIS! And don't any of you give me "well it is supposed to be stupid DG2099", BWAHAHAHAHA! No. There is a good set up for this and even if Sunrise shows in the past had their moments, they never went full on stupid like. "But DG2099 the girls are the cute!"

    WRONG

They are not "cute", I have seen real "cute". Plushie toys? Cute. Tiny animals? Cute. Silly jokes? Cute? Some drawings that look like teenagers that are clearly underaged and have nothing going for them other than being sadistic cackling hags and have no reason other than to whore themselves out to standardless creeps as they endlessly steal from the plot and make this series less and less bearable when it should be using mecha action and political elements that would make this series not just good, but solid and maximize it's potential!? NOT CUTE! NOT HOT! NOT EVEN FAPPABLE! I HOPE THEY GO THE "And everyone died" ENDING THAT IS HOW BAD THIS SERIES IS GETTING! GRAAAAAA24R8Y92RHY898GRRH99FE9G!!!!!!

    *cough*

Oh yeah and Gargantia, it looks pretty but man they have to make the other episodes somewhat plot relevant.

I also was not going to say this until I got half way done, but for the past couple of months I've been taking on Cardcaptor Sakura, one episode a day late at night and am at ep 31. You know, at first I actually gave this series a legit chance, because I figured that CLAMP could be competent and after seeing the series version of X I was very surprised and figured that "yes, they actually can be". I admit, at first it wasn't even bad, since there was no fan service, it had monsters of the week, both themes did grow on me, and I cannot deny that Kero is awesomely adorable and funny. Then it sunk in, I think around the point where Meilin showed up. It did not really improve. At all. It just kept taking, and taking, and taking, and taking, and kept on taking so much time with no pay off. It took a while before I realize how bland this was, how atrocious the fight scenes were handled, how insignificant the character development was, how tedious the sad excuses for jokes were, how useless the minor characters were, and how horrifically awful the story was being paced. Being inspired by Magic Knight Rayearth you say? Well the lackluster execution certainly show that! This series should have ended with episode 25 with this.

    lolissuckagain.png~original

How the FRICK did A) This junk get popular and more importantly B) Why did this get Anime Grand Prix's Anime of The Year Award? WHY? Stuff like Mobile Suit Gundam, SEED, and Destiny, Ideon, Evangelion, God Mars, Nadesico: Prince of Darkness, Nausicaa, Laputa, the first Full Metal Alchemist, Nadia, and both halves of Code Geass. While I have issues with the last three on the list, I can somewhat understand WHY they'd win that, they are somewhat entertaining when they try to be. THIS?....... I............ Don't even........... Just...... Someone either really liked girly junk at the time or someone associated with the series bribed them! Just.... GAH! Before anyone asks yes I've been watching it subbed because I saw the first episode dubbed and upon comparison (because I heard how badly edited episodes were) all I am going to say is "WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU OUT FIVE MINUTES OF AN EPISODE!?" That is just plain ridonkulous.

Alright, this specific rant is over.

  5. Anidb lists the anime as seinen

Wow am I stupid for over looking that.

    Mal probably listed it incorrectly.

    It does apparently:

    http://myanimelist.net/anime/1300/Omishi_Mahou_Gekijou:_Risky/Safety

I'm starting to wonder if I've even seen a legit shojo anime, especially of the magical girl variety, because I notice that seinen series that look like they're aimed for chicks seem to suck balls.

  6. Plot devices do not exist, people that took parts of english class designed solely to lower your grade to assist human resources managers eliminate your applications too seriously to the point of making a wiki over them do.

  7. Some stuff I watched over Sunday and today in chronological order not counting the series mentioned at the bottom:

-Battle Angel: It was okay, it tried way too hard being depressing though. Interesting concept, lackluster execution. The pointless sex junk kind of hurt it a bit too.

-Battle Arena Toshinden: Lots of martial arts but not that interesting, at least it looked pretty since it was done by Masami Obari. Like above the pointless sex junk hurt it too.

-Twilight of The Dark Master: Very cool OVA with vampires and mutants with nice art style and a well done final battle. Still had pointless sex junk that also hurt it too.

-Cybernetics Guardian: Another cool OVA and with neat background music and fight scenes, real shame this one was hurt by unfulfilled sequel fuel. Saldo and Geno Cyber were works of art, 'nough said.

-Psycho Diver: Yet another cool OVA with an interesting setting and art style, but not executed that well. More pointless sex junk got in the way.

I also started watching and am half way through some short shojo series called Omishi Magical Theater: Risky/Safety. Supposedly it is a comedy and so far I am definitely not laughing, plus aside from Risky's antics it has nothing going for it and the music is bleh. On a similar note, the main character's voice actress sounds too old for the job, couldn't they get someone that at least sounded like a middle schooler?

  8. babes

    WTF

    oh-my-god-who-the-hell-cares.jpeg

I never thought Gargantia would have pointless fan service garbage, but oh well. Hopefully they'll make it up with something good like skull smashing or spine ripping or gouging or bone crushing or sea creatures or the return of the lobster mech and pirates or something normally reserved for stuff in shows like 1000 Way To Die.

  9. I just finished some 13 ep series called Miami Guns. I normally dislike ecchi comedies, but THIS. This had to have been the funniest anime I have ever seen and it was surprisingly action packed! Good characters, good pacing, good action, most of the jokes were funny as hell, the fan service did not feel forced, a good mascot, and it even had an octopus monster. The only down side was the bleh music, but with everything in consideration it was definitely worth the watch.

  10. I just finished Death Note, top 4 anime of all time easily, man that ending actually was done well. Oh Mikami you idiot, Light would have won if you didn't jump to conclusions so crazily. I would like to see an alternate ending of that though. I'm so glad the ending wasn't bad. The only things I didn't care for about this series were the opening and ending themes (and even then they were somewhat good) and L. Yeah, didn't care for the guy, interesting character and all, but the guy was was borderline nuts. I didn't mind it until about ep 16 where the detainment section of the story occurred, Bush allegory much? Still, it was worth the watch.

Over the weekend I also watched some anime series called Guilty Crown because everyone at Animesuki is comparing it with Valvrave. I didn't expect GC to be a real robot series, but oh well. Oh boy did I have issues with this series: Really bad music, an annoying cat girl, mostly bland protagonists, pacing varying from slow to fast too often, a somewhat mediocre first half, and BAD MECH DESIGNS. It's right down there with Code Geass, Nadesico, and Rayearth as one of the few anime with mechs I actually did not like, thaaaaaaat's pretty bad. On the other hand it did pick up in the second half, the fight scenes were really good, the villains were awesome, and the kept the fan service to a minimal minus unneeded bouncing. Despite the complaints I kind of liked it. What is really strange is that GC uses the same types of characters as Aquarion Evol did WITH THE SAME VOICE CAST. Did Kawamori create Evol by taking Guilty Crown's plot and slapped Aquarion on for market value? After seeing this it is not that farfetched. The weirdest thing is that Zessica from Evol annoyed me (to be fair most of her shipping fans are far worse and compared to many other anime characters she isn't too bad), but Ayase was probably the best character* in GC and they both shared the same voice actress. She also had the same VA of Romary from Gundam Age, another super annoying character I don't care for, but that is another story. I don't know, I just find strange irony in that.

*Not counting the GHQ of course, Daryl alone stole most of the series, the rest were icing on the cake but still good in their own right.

I also noticed that Guilty Crown's staff must have had someone with a bondage fetish or something since I noticed every other episode someone was tied up and in the first two thirds gagged too. I can't complain, they did this to cat girl, although poor Ayase got it twice. I didn't even get why the second time, was it because she might try to help a fugitive escape 'cause she like him? Regardless, any anime that makes it's annoying characters shut the hell up for a bit gets bonus points.
