Also!! I've been noticing something off in the magazine scan of the default YF-29, but I haven't been able to figure out what for the longest time. I just figured it out. For one reason or another, this version of the YF-29 differs in yet ANOTHER way from Alto's YF-29/Rod's YF-29B (besides the number of head lasers). It has fins on the ends of its wings, while Alto's/Rod's do not. Interesting, huh? Hm...that certainly rings true. No, no, you're definitely right. Look here, the VF-25 masterfile version of the YF-29 prototype (the only one supposedly), doesn't have fins on its wings either...I suppose this means we'll get valkyrie variants for characters, even for ones who've never flown them before? Oh, and I translated this yesterday with some help. Anyone want to take a guess at how valkyries will be constructed? 1. SV-51 装甲 パーツ V = SV-51 Armor Parts V 2. SV-51 ターポファソヅト IV = SV-51 Turbofan Jet IV 3. OTM = Carbon Alloy 4. バルキリーフレームバツ I = Valkyrie Frame Parts I 5. ジャンクフレームバーツ I = Junk Frame Parts I 6. SV-51 フレームパーツ V = SV-51 Frame Parts V 7. ウロポロスクォーツ = Ouroboros Quartz 8. VF-11B イサム 専用 バーツ = VF-11B Isamu 専用 parts 9. YF-29 オズマ 専用 バーツ = YF-29 Ozma Custom parts 10. SV-51 装甲 パーツ IV = SV-51 Armor Parts IV (same kind as the first one, just an earlier version) Notes: The green rectangle says 装甲 or "Armor" below the window, 92/35 points The blue rectangle says フレーム or “Frame”, 35/35 points The red rectangle says エソジソ or “Engine”, 56/35 points The bottom line of all three is 35 points...is that important somehow? Since when did Ozma get a YF-29?

The one in that picture is the normal YF-29. It only has 1 head gun, unlike Alto's which has 2. Since Rod's YF-29B has 2 head lasers, we can assume Alto's YF-29 is actually closer to a YF-29B (despite it being an entirely custom valkyrie with stats different from the only other prototype at the time). Compare this one to this one...which looks a little more like Alto's despite the paint job/different colored exhaust. Not that i can see. Fingers crossed though.

Don't forget that the VF-27 will most likely have its Super Pack from Sayonara no Tsubasa too. Personally, the fact that it has the YF-29 is what made the game a deal-maker. Especially if it has its Super Pack.

Cool! We should make a club. I mean, there are other games I want for PS3 of course, but I was always on the fence about buying one. This totally pushed me over the edge. Yeah, hopefully we get a video by christmas or early next year. On a different note, I noticed that most of the names of the equipment pieces are in katakana. I'm okay at hiragana but not katakana, so I guess I should brush up on my skills before the game comes out. Especially since katakana usually denotes English words. Being able to sound out English words and read some is better than not being able to read at all.

To comment on the PS3 topic, I'm going to just go out an buy a slim before the release date next year (I'm a 360 owner). Oh, and I hope the 720 does better in Japan than the 360 does, so hopefully we get a few more of their games overseas for the 720 too. Back on topic, I think that the original story elements are a good thing too. We get a cool new pilot to add to the ranks of heroes and a love triangle between two heroines. I wonder if we'll be able to actually choose which one he ends up with?

This pleases me greatly. It is. But I've been impressed by Artdink many times before. Its gotten to the point where I'm starting to expect this kind of quality from them, honestly. If you look at some of the pictures, you can actually see the armament on the hardpoints.

I don't know...that list of parts in one of the first scans is pretty daunting (attached pic). Not that that will prevent my enjoyment of the game. I'll be a bit sad I missed some of the story actually. Yeah...its going to be embarrassing, but I feel almost obligated to record it. Maybe I'll even do a sort of Let's Play.

Well, I don't have a PS3 either, so I'm buying one when my import order ships. I do have a Hauppauge however, so I can record every embarrassing accident as I'm unable to read for most of the game. Yeah, its going to be hard to figure things out, but I don't mind. At the very least, the prospect of being able to fly around and fight randomly spawning enemies is enough to make me pre-order. Also, have you guys noticed numbers popping up on some of the scans? I guess they're going for a borderlands damage system?

Judging from the pictures, I got the impression they were going for a Borderlands-esque RPG. I have to admit, even if I get stuck on quests, the potential to just fly my valkyrie around without having to worry about much, defeating rogue Zentradi/Vajra as they show up makes my mouth water. Judging from the inventory list in some of the scans and the fact that they show graphical depictions of gunpods/missiles, it seems there's potential to switch around weapons and parts. Maybe you can put a VF-25 gunpod on your YF-19? Or put missiles and engines designed for later valks on the older ones? With an upgrade system it could make the old valks have similar stats to the new ones if you just change out the internals. EDIT: I don't know what magazine this is from, but it has a slightly more detailed sketch of the YF-30 in the bottom left. (Its partially cut off) Thought you all would want to know.

So far it seems that its a YF-30. Only a prototype. Its yet to be seen whether or not it'll be turned into a production model. Maybe we'll get a new platform after this, maybe this IS the new platform, or maybe the game will feature both the YF-30 and the VF-30. Who knows. Either way, I know I'll miss the swing wings... I'm looking everywhere to see if we can get more of the famitsu pages translated, I want to know more about this openworld RPG-style Macross game that I've only dreamed of until this day. Seriously, the guy who stepped up at the board meeting and said "Guys, guys, wait. I think this should be an open world RPG.", already has a spot reserved in heaven for him. Heck, I'd even give him MY spot (assuming I'm going there.) We just need to get the complete scans of each page and a translator and I'm ready to read the entire article over and over until the next one comes out. Also, no one's going to comment on how the YF-29B resembles Alto's more than the stock YF-29? (Two head lasers as opposed to one). Any other changes you think they added to the B version? EDIT: And who are the two in the left page of the second scan? New characters?

Thank you very much for these scans! Is there any chance you'll upload any higher def ones? Also, YF-29B made my heart implode... And I can't wait for the YF-30! Well, it appears that the YF-29 at the bottom has only 1 beam cannon on its head, but the YF-29B has two. I'm assuming that means the one Alto used in Sayonara no Tsubasa was a YF-29B.
