  1. For around $8, you can find a few F/A-18s from Hase in A. C, and D, the latest which I believe was released in 2001. The 1/72 F/A-18 F Super Hornet is a two seater, came out late last year, and the F/A-18 E single seat version came out abount a month ago. They do, however, run about $18 at your local store. The E and F are almost identifical expect for the cockpit area, but they do come with several missles. unlike the older versions that do not include any. IMO, the E/F has share some problem with the VF-1's -- intakegaps for example. very fine detail but yet simple to build. Even if you are not just trying to get familiar with Hase kits, I would still highly recommend them. One short coming though, the E/F cockpits only have slide on decals.
  2. I did the same thing, I recommend their F/A-18-E/F. Another one if you can find it, the VF-154 F-14A Kitty Hawk.
  3. According to the article, the engine use electricity to fire a laser to produce super heated gas for exhaust. All I saw were a couple of pictures. Because of the lack for flight knowledge, I'm asking if anyone read they article to share some thoughts. And VF-19 are probably right too, I just feel that Popular Machinics would be serious about this. NASA already developed an ion thrust engine for use in Mars mission, if they haven't already done so. I saw it on Discovery Channel, it would be interesting if it is real (????).
  4. Just walked by the magazine stand in B&N, the current issue of Popular Machanics feature an article on a test flight ready Global Hawk. Could it be real? I didn't have time to read it. Could somebody take a look of the article?
  5. Sorry can't help you there. What other kind of crazy taxes would they add on to ship from the US? Even buying from HLJ might end up costing close to the prices US online stores charge, usually save the shipping. I buy from oversea just because that store has in stock what I want, and I don't mind waiting a few weeks. For the best prices you really have to look around. and for new releases, HLJ is doing these "early birds" pomotions that will save you some. I've got 2 each of zeros and sv-51 at 15% off a piece, plus the shipping is cheaper with mulitple items, I thinks I saved about $10 on each of those orders.
  6. I agree, however I have not use EMS so far. I had four shipment from them since Feb, they took from 10 to 13 days to land in my mail box from ordering, provided items are instock. I also had a shippment from Valkyrie Exchange, and it took only about four days. Oh, there is no customer on model kits shipping from Japan to US. Opps.... I meant no custom on model kits shipping to US from Japan.

  8. VF22-s and Minmay Guard are in stock at HLJ, if anyone cares.
  9. usually Mar release means end of Mar, so it is more than likely April before there is any stock. Well, I'm not in a hurry, waiting don't bother. Besides, preorder gives you better chance of getting the first shippment. I preordered a couple, a couple of zeros, and a couple of 21. A funny thing HLJ did and I don't think anyone would care, VF-1 Battroid went on sale there a couple weeks ago for about 1600 Yen. I order 2 of them along with 2 VF-2SS(thanks to someone post it here). I was hoping they would sent me 1 VF-2, because they were in low stock status. As soon as order confirmed, I went to request shippment for availible items. They actually sent me everything I order. I'm happy..
  10. Hi Prons, In my opinion, Hasegawa(Japanese) makes some of the finest air plane kits in the industry. Have fun building your VF-1. It's not difficult at all, just follow the instruction and be patient.
  11. The best result I've got so far is with Future. The most important thing is not to skip grit when using sand papers. However, there is no need to use anything higher than 2000 grit. When you are all done with sanding, rinse and dry the clear part then give it a short bath in Future Floor Polish. Wait at least an hour before touching or masking it. Apply micro polisher or rubbing compound at the end will make it even better. Of course, there is always scratch remover.
