A small rubber band should work as well.
-
Try this. It's for the YF-29 shoulder but he does point out what part of the leg screws need to be removed. He also shows how joints are tightened.
-
Thanks guys! The landing gears are metal with rubber tires just like on the valk itself. And it holds up fine. c",)
-
Here's Alto's.I just noticed that the leg armor has the landing gear built into it. Was the first version like this?
-
BTW, I find that the chest piece should be on first while in battroid mode to make sure its locked in place before changing to gerwalk or Valkyrie. I was trying to put it on while it was in fighter and couldn't get it to "click" in place which is why it kept popping off.
-
One cool thing is that you get two sets of chest missile pods. You get to choose which way you want the doors to open.
-
Awesome work! Wish i had your skills!
-
Is the armor easier to install?
I never owned V.1 so I can't compare. I find it comparable to the super packs. The chest piece on mine keeps falling off in fighter mode. Still fiddling around with proper fit.
-
Some brief shots. Like mass driver said with the armor on it's really back heavy. I almost wasn't able to get it to stand.
-
Woot!

They are released, most are waiting on the packages. At least I know that's why I don't have it yet
Mine just left customs. Hoping for delivery by tomorrow.

Can someone explain how to find Macross listings on BBTS? They are always impossible to find, no matter what search criteria you try using... =/
I've always wondered the same thing!
I have no idea how their search function works. I just go to google and type "bbts valkyries" and get better results than typing "valkyries" in the site search box.

I should link you to the topic discussing the kits when they were first released.. they're very accurate, but quite a bit more fragile than the toys. Transformation depends on some friction tabs for the hip section too.
You kind of have to balance what you want it for. For those of us annoyed with how ugly the v.1 DX was, the kit was a very nice representation of the design, and a lot of us just wanted an aircraft kit anyway. If you put a lot of work into the kit, you can make it very detailed, but transforming it will likely damage any painting or decals unless you use many layers of clearcoat.
Bottom line really.. they can be beautiful. But you should pick whether you want to build it to be transformable from the start, because that will change how you approach it. There's a lot of detail that will need to be painted during assembly if you plan on ever taking it out of aircraft mode.
Thanks! Hmm...well I really wanted both. Looks and transformability. Well, I guess that's why they made a DX version. Now that you guys answered my questions I think I'm going to keep a lookout for a DX VF-27
-
The -27 and -25 are the opposite, when it comes to model kits. (at least, they were until the renewal)
The -27 DX toy has a better-looking battroid IMHO than the model kit. Whereas the -25 kit looked better in every way than the -25 DX v.1
Thanks David! Sorry to stray off topic but what about diffuliculty in assembly, playability, transformation, etc? My model building skills leave much to be desired. c",)

Hmmm...how do the 1/72 scales stack up against the 1/60's? I've thought about purchasing one (the VF-27 to be specific ) since I missed out on the DX.

Glad somebody was able to get a Macross Frontier preorder from BBTS. I did get my Alto Renewal from them but after the Ozma incident, I now preorder through Japan based retailers so my chances of actually getting order fulfilled are greater.
-
Weren't those super parts web exclusives too?
You are correct sir!
-
Woohoo! Just got mine in the mail today from Nippon-Yasan.com - that website seems pretty legit, since I was able to score my last couple MF fighters from it when the fighters were sold out from most of the usual sites (ie., HLJ, AmiAmi, etc.)
They're legit. I got my VF-171EX, YF-29, F and S Super parts and now they just sent my F and S Armor parts. I've got the VF-25G and VF-171EX armor parts on preorder as well from them. =)
-
Ahhh, ok. I was confusing "Messiah" with "Alto," which is the main ship of the show and the one I want to get along with the Super Pack. As long as I get the Renewal labelled stuff, I should be all good, right?
All the VF-25's are Messiah Valkyries including Alto's. The only two that are out right now are the VF-25F and VF-25S when it comes to renewals with the VF-25G coming out in September. Most retailers list them as renewals or version 2.0 Be prepared to spend around $500 if you want the F or S with a Super Pack. Good luck!
-
So if I wanna get the best of the best, I want to buy the VF-25F Messiah Renewal Valkyrie and the VF-25F Messiah Super Parts kit, right?
Well it depends. The VF-25F is the poster child of Macross Frontier. Watch any episode and it's in the opening credits. It's also the main fighter of the "hero", Alto Saotome. And yes, he almost always uses the super pack except for one time when you uses the armor pack. Are you asking if it is the best fighter, firepower/maneuverability/speedwise? Or are you asking which one best represents the show? If its the former, then I would say no. If the latter, then Yes.

Just got my shipping notification and tracking number from NY! Woot!
-
Hot Damn!
-
NY stated they're receiving their stock on the 27th so they should be shipping orders shortly.
-
I think Klan's package is closer to 56G Full Figure... ahem...
I finally ordered an Alto Renewal! $355 including shipping... I'll set him back-to-back with my Ichijo J!!!
Congrats on the purchase! I got my Alto at $200. Ozma though? Close to $300 since I had to scramble late in the game for one since I, like many others here, was BBTS'd.
