  1. Thanks dude!! I agree, they're no where near as poseable as the Yamato toys, however the price is right for the size, details not to shabby, fun to make customs with and you can buy a Phalanx and Spartan!! :D

Exactly! I found the Defender & Tomahawk at a local shop for under $20 MISB each. Once they got panel-lined & decaled they look great.

AND yes... I definately have to get a Phalanx & a Spartan. Got to complete the Destroid set. Atleast Matchbox had the decency to put 4 out of 5 Destroids in the same scale.... (im talking to you Yamato <_< )

  2. Does any other online store have this up for preorder? Joel is a good dude, but i could have sworn BBTS has had a lot of old restock items labeled "PREORDER".... only to get cancelled if they can't find an old supply & get it back in stock. It says 1997, not reissue.

  3. Yeah, considering the Joe vehicles are rarely even close to 1/18 scale. And the red/blue vehicle is from the Avenger 3.75" figure line. I expect to see that one repainted for a lot of various different lines. But this is probably the first Macross kitbash. Thanks Hasbro.

And thanks Yamato for providing extra decals for all the Valks. :)

Now i'm just waiting for Metal Gear Rex to be the closest thing to a 1/48 Destroid-like mecha for my shelf.

  4. did you panel line your red lion

Oh yeah. One of the first things out the box after i found a #2 decal. I used grey & black, utlra-fine gundam marker.

i felt the need to bring out the few details it had on it, because sometimes being anime-accurate isn't all that great.... B))

  5. I just got my GBP-1S armor in today and it's epic. I also have Hikaru VF-1J on the way. If you want an awesome display 1/48's are the centerpiece.

    AGREED. Absolutely EPIC.

1/48's continue to amaze me to this day. Still sad to see everything going the 1/60 direction.

  6. Holy shitcakes!!! I wasn't envious of your collection until i saw the GBP army shelf & the Cannon Fodder fleet!!! THAT is some impressive sh*t right there!!! BRAVO man. Most impressive.

No wonder i can't find this stuff, so many vets have so many duplicates.... lol.

  7. Alright, got another n00b question to throw out there. I'm a fairly new collector, so my only experience is with 1/60 Yamato VF-1 series. But I have heard of the famous 1/48 series upon which they are based. I recently got the opportunity to pick up a 1/48 roy VF-1s for fairly cheap, and was wondering if I should make the plunge (about $100).

What exactly are some advantages and downfalls of the 1/48 (besides size of course :p ) in comparison to the 1/60 (I know some people on this forum are diehard 1/48 fans).

    Thanks in advance guys!

I went thru the same problem 4 months ago. 1/48's are pure awesome. Built like bricks. Are not plagued with many issues & are the biggest valks made. The only 'cons' are the relative selection is minimal compared to the vast 1/60 scale. And if you like other Macross lines besides SDF/DYRL then your 1/48 giants will be all alone in that scale. The other con is the price. If you see one under $150 nowadays then that is sadly a pretty good deal.
