  1. Model-junkie, your original post did not seem to take into account any moral judgement on the use of Paypal's BUYER PROTECTION....in fact, it seems the only reasons you opted to not use it is because you felt the window of coverage had expired and you feared getting "banned" by Mandarake...

Anyway, this thread is for alerting MW community members about Mandarake listings of interest....not airing grievances about them....there is a separate thread specifically for that...

But I never said Mandarake refused to co-operate. Whilst I did mentioned a paypal claim may not be available I did not try to find out as took the moral high ground.

This is not a grievance about Mandarake, never was as I never blamed them for the issue. My post was just a warning for using SAL.

  2. jvmacross, I've been buying things through mail order since before the internet came along. I know that if I file a Paypal claim I will win and be fully reimbursed but just because I can does not mean its right. Mandarake fulfilled THEIR obligation and sent the stuff out to me. Its not necessarily their fault the package is currently in limbo. Therefore I will not file a Paypal claim as its not honest or right of me to do so, especially since I did receive two thirds of my order..

Mandarake has also kept their word by filing an insurance claim with Japan Post, USPS contacted me last week to see if I received the missing package so I know a claim is in process. I just have to wait a while for the claim.

  3. I am selling most of my macross model kit collection. I have edited the photos to show most of them stacked up rather than individual photos, which I can still do if you want close ups of a particular kit.

The kits are all 1/72 unless specified. The Tomy kits are repops of the Arii kits from the Macross Factory/diorama sets.

Prices do not include shipping, payment by paypal only unless meeting in person. I am willing to ship worldwide. I am flexible on pricing so offers are welcome.

  4. SAL can be registered and mine was but unfortunately Mandarake told me there is a (up to) 60 day investigation period and USPS needs to respond so I am not hopeful of any kind of resolution.

I still need to confront my post office, maybe they can make a call to the New Jersey sorting facility or get something done. I never had any major complaints about USPS, I ship several hundred packages a year and some take longer than others to arrive, a couple damaged but nothing missing. I currently have another package AWOL. This one was actually out for delivery on July 9th. I am starting to dislike USPS

  5. As a warning for U.S. buyers using SAL I had a package go missing after arriving in the U.S. I had 3 packages shipped from Nakano Mandarake, one was treated like EMS and arrived in a week and the other 2 had the same updates as expected and was taking a few weeks to arrive in the U.S. After clearing the New Jersey sorting facility one package was delivered within 2 days and another just went into limbo.... almost a 30 days with the last update saying it departed the New Jersey sorting office on June 20th.

So I filed a claim just to bring it to USPS's notice and they tell me its still en route to me blah blah blah. Fine, standard stupid response telling me to just wait and I expected as much. I received an email update a few days later saying they cannot find my package, closed my case telling me to contact Japan Post. The tracking number has also been REMOVED from the USPS website. It now just says tracking number not found. The tracking number works on the Japan Post website and also shows it left New Jersey. Lucky for me I printed out the USPS webpage with the tracking number showing the updates before it was removed. I just need to confront them and find out the reasoning for deleting the tracking history, seems a bit fishy to me.

I contacted Manadrake and they told me Japan Post will take 60 days to look into it, damn. So I am out 4k Yen but at least I received 2/3 of my order and they had the more valuable items. I may just resorting to using EMS or DHL in the future. I am not going to file a claim with Paypal as I am most likely not covered by their new 180 day coverage, I did receive 3/4 of my order and I do not want to be banned by Mandarake.

  6. I thought this was going to be an announcement by Bandai or Hasegawa.

E2046 are known for selling recasted resin kits, I wonder which kit this was copied from? Apparently its not a great one, according to the one review on the webpage

  7. Great job on the kitbash. I have been wanting to do something similar with my Hasegawa VT-1 or VE-1

The canopy reminds me of the F-16D. It may look unusually long due to it having a flat profile, canopies for the F-14 and F-15E are taller and curved

  8. Hmmm...if you sign in and go to your "mypage" there is a section that stores your search history under "Keywords".....is that what you are referring to? Basically, you just click on your search for say "マクロス"...and it will bring up whatever it finds for it....

I just click on the search field and select whichever cached term is in there...like マクロス, macross, VF, etc.....much easier

Thanks for pointing that out. It looks like my save keywords feature were turned on by default. Its not as easily accessible as bookmarking, I need to keep going back to the keywords page to click on the searches, but it works. Now I deleted a couple of keyword searches but I do not see my new ones showing up. Is there a way to add them to the list or is it automatic?

I also just found out that the Sahra store on the "order" site is the Sawara store that is listed on the "ekizo" site

  9. Treatment, what stands are you using for your figures?

After hunting on Mandarake for a year I finally have most of the Gundam Wing Robot Spirit figures, including all of the exclusives and option sets. I just need Epyon, Wing Gundam Ver.Ka and Tallgeese II

Edit: Ok after a bit of search it seems you are using Bandai's Action Bases. I may pick up a few of these rather than the Bandai Act Stages since they're more affordable!

  10. Thanks for the update. I've never received damaged goods from Mandarake, at least not worse than described, so its good to know they will work with you. I often avoided ordering from the Umeda branch but at least they will ship SAL if requested.

One thing for everyone to note is that most Mandarake stores will allow you to add items to your previous order with no restrictions. The Fukouka store however will only allow you to add to your previous order once.

  11. Whilst I may not always agree with Mandarake's shipping quote, I have paid them and never asked for a recalculation. The only times I ask for a cancellation is when SAL is not available and they bump it to EMS.

The Umeda branch is a weird one in that they do not ship many items SAL whilst the other branches have no problems doing so. It leads me to believe that they either pack their items differently or charge more for 'handling / packaging', although nothing on the Mandarake site mentions paying for anything other than the shipping costs. They do have to pay for their own customized boxes and packaging afterall.

  12. My least favorite is the Umeda branch as they rarely ship anything SAL whilst the other branches have no problems shipping the same item SAL.

You have an option to combine any future orders from the same store so you can place an order now and add to the same order at a later date. Mandarake will remove the 500 Yen fee when you finally reach the 5k Yen mark. The only branch that will limit the amount of orders you combine is the one in Fukouka, they limit you to 2 order combinations.
