    1/48 customs

You haven't seen this one? It was posted by >EXO< in the Toy Customization board. Link to topic

    1/48 customs

Well, there's more than a few errors in addition to the ones already mentioned on the Max & Milia schemes: 1.) The shoulder's should be white with a red "arrow" 2.) The middle (bicep area) should be blue/red 3.) The stripe that goes around the leg, just above the landing gear doors, should be red on the Max 4.) The circle on the back of Max's backpack should be yellow 5.) They should have the flying kite symbol on the left wing Looks like maybe he was just going off of memory. Or maybe he just did them this way because he liked them better this way, which is the cool part about doing customs....you get to make it the way you want it. BUT....they still look very nice. It must take some pretty big cajones to take paint to a beautiful minty Yamato 1/48. I know I'd never have the nerve to do it. Plus, even with the descrepancies, the quality looks top notch. His skill far surpasses mine (which is not too hard to do since I have no skill, but that's another post ). Edit: grammar

    Low Viz Pix

Sadly, no. I do not have a low-viz myself. I got that picture from the Toys section here at MW. There are more pictures in that section though, just not of the underside of the valk. Here's the link to those other pictures: link

    Low Viz Pix

    Does this help?
  5. Hmmm...if the shoulders are part of the armor itself, then this armor will look strange on any of the other valks except the 1J's. All the other valks have that black pattern with the yellow/blue/red arrow on their shoulders. No biggie though...looks best on the Hikaru 1J anyway.
  6. WOW A 1/48 custom VF-1S Max And below that appears to be a custom 1/60 Kakizaki VF-1A
  7. 42? 37? aww man, I had 44. So close, yet so far away
  8. Forgive the (perhaps) ignorant question, but I've seen all of the above spellings, which one is correct?

    VE-1

I've been looking at pics of the VE-1 and VT-1 as those are the only 1/60's I don't have yet...and one thing caught my attention...neither of them comes with a gunpod (which makes sense), but they both come with the "gun-grip" right hand....wassupwitdat? Would it be so difficult to create an inverse mold of the closed fist and just give the valks two closed fist hands?? Oh well, I don't seem to recall seeing either in battroid in the movie anyway. Plus, with the ugly heads, I wouldn't want to display them in battroid mode anyway. I'm still not sure about the VE-1, but I think I'll still get one...maybe it'll grow on me (figuratively not literally ). Plus, I'm a freak and can't stand an incomplete collection.
  11. LOL Sesiously though, that's actually a pretty sweet pose. It would look even better with fishing line holding it up I think.
  12. Wow! Why such hate for the Toynami toys? I agree that the Yamatos are better (both scales even), but the Toynami valks aren't that bad. As a matter of fact, I have a couple (VF-1S Roy and VF-1J Hikaru...err, Rick) and I like them. I've never seen a HCM before, but you're right...the similarities are striking...looks almost like the same toy, except that the HCM's tailfins stick up higher than the MPC's in battroid mode.
  13. I suppose we can justify it any way we want to ourselves and others, but in reality, I suspect that this is the closest to the truth.
  14. I remember loving the lion Voltron as a kid, but I totally hated the vehicle Voltron. I should try and re-watch them, anyone know if they have ever released either series on DVD?
  15. Thanks for the replies. Only BoBe addressed the true point of my question, which means I must've phrased it poorly. My bad. My question wasn't why we collect, but rather why we collect multiple variations of the same toy. Let's fact it, with very little exception, all of the VF-1 toys are basically the same.
  16. Wow, I really want to see pics. The Hikaru 1J will be my first 1/48 so I'd like to see any differences (aside from the head and hands) from the older 1/48's.
  17. Here I am without even one 1/48, and there are people out there with so many that they have "extras" that they are just willing to take apart and experiment with??! Makes me sad .

    VE-1

I'll probably still buy one, just because I can't stand an incomplete collection. Guess, that's why Yamato (and all toy makers for that matter) make these things, because they know we cannot resist.

    Why do we do it?

I was admiring my near-complete Yamato 1/60 collection (still no 1/48 , but that will be changing soon ) and my wife asked me a very rational question. She said "why do you keep buying the same toy over and over again?" Really, she's right. All the VF-1's are essentially the same toy with a different head or paint scheme. Even being aware of this, I still can't stop myself from wanting to have them all, and then have them all again in a bigger scale. Anyone ever wonder to themselves...why we do it?

    VE-1

Since this is my first post, let me start by saying "Hi!" Now, my question is why is there so much love for the VE-1? I mean, it only shows up in DYRL for like 2 to 3 seconds (unless I missed something). I have only seen SDF Macross TV, DYRL, Macross Plus, and Eps 1 & 2 of Macross Zero, is the VE-1 featured more prominently in any of the other Macross series? I don't dislike the valk (don't necessarily like it either though), just curious why people seem to go so crazy for it.
