  1. Hello fellow Macross addicts,

I was recently surfing the web looking for reviews for the new unpainted 1/60 VF's when

i came across some interesting pictures. Has anybody seen these or know how to go about

preordering them? please let me know. i also included the Yamato site as well.

(be sure to check out the photo zoom option on the right hand side of the Yamato link)

  2. Ah ok well thats not as bad as i was thinking it would be. I went the EMS route (via PayPal) and based on what you both confirm, I'm thinking i will see this valk sometime mid November than.

Thank you both for your quick response and for your info as well.

  3. Hello all,

I was just curious as to what kind of experiences fellow members have had with the wait time for orders made to HLJ.

I have recently "Pre ordered" the VF-1J unpainted 1/60 scale valk and to be honest, I have no idea how long it will take to receive the order.

I normally order my toys off of e-bay, so this is actually my first time dealing with HLJ.

Any information or feedback would be most appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Blue

  4. HI everyone, in an effort to catch up with the bad weather last week I tried to catch up today by starting the molding process. But again bad weather got the best of me. Some of the molds didn't turn out good and with MWCon looming this weekend I'll be a bit further behind. Thanks for your patience, I'll be be back up full speed next week and will be shipping soon. I'll add something extra for everyone that has paid as of today to make the wait worth it. You can ask me anything on this thread or PM me if you prefer.

For anyone that expected their items during con, talk to me in person on Saturday or Sunday to remind me and I'll ship it for free.

Hey EXO, I've been out of the loop for a little bit but I do hope all is going better with you. It looks like MWCon was a hit, (I wish I could have attended) and I was just curious if you had an update for us regarding our orders. PM me with the info if you like. Thanks a bunch and am still excited to receive these much anticipated (and needed) accessories for my valks.

  5. After many long months and much hard work on Ebay,

    My collection is finally COMPLETE!

(until MFC4 comes out in November)

Yesterday the VF-25F Sheryl 'Galaxy' version from MFC1 arrived. Unless there are some I don't know about that's my last one.

Here's my collection with labels showing which is which. (Click for bigger)

I don't remember where I saw it, but i had thought there was another 1/250 scale fighter that I didn't see in your collection. It was a VF-1A Max with the zentraedi uniform paint job....It may have been a custom but i could have sworn that it was being sold as part of a box set. Anyone else know of which one I am referring to?

  6. Flak,

I love the "Ghostriders" tail decal you used....

It was actually my first F-14 squadron I was attached to way back when I was in the Navy.

Anyways excellent job on the model and again great choice of decals.

  7. I had the Vexar and the red VF-1J also, can't remember what they called it. But after putting together models from the modern age, I find it hard to go back. I have an ancient IMAI Legioss Armofighter kit that I might still try. These are best for nostalgia only.

    Hey Chowser,

I too had the Vexar and Axoid versions, my first however was the Orbot (camo VF-1D)

I never owned the Orgus version though.

Anyways here's a picture with the names of each.

I had one of these as well in my youth....I cant help but shake my head and laugh even today at the fact that they put the legs on backwards

and didn't bother to change the picture on the cover art.(notice the ventral fin location is to the back of the legs instead of up front where

its suppose to be, and also notice the intakes are not facing forward either)

  9. Ya I think I would rather settle with customizing a 1/60 scale "hawk" versus shelling out money for a smaller scale version.

I also agree that actual damage/real damage is the best way to go. I had previously a thread/forum in which I was customizing

a 1/60 hawk with LED lighting and the likes however it seems to have "disappeared" from this site during the move.

I may have to re-post it again along with the updates.

  10. being super anal about tools and supplies I spent a while on ebay looking for the 90's citadel paints with drip lids, especially the metallics. It took a while but I finally found a guy in jersey who was willing to part with one pot of blue metallic because I bought 40 other pots of various colors. Later that year I was in a car accident and suffered nerve damage and as such can no longer paint steady. And for some reason I still can't part with the paints

I'd say find out in detail what you want or what people like cheng recommend and search everywhere from garage sales to google to old electronics and hardware stores.

I have to agree with Kanata about the search ideas...look everywhere possible,

however if you do consider his idea of citadel paints, I would have to agree that

they were wonderful paints to work with and also have a verity of washes, brushes,

and tools for your hobby needs. If you go this route here is a link to the games workshop

website which allows you to order these items online.

    Again hope it helps.

  11. (Chronocidal beat me to it!)

Ah, but this scheme is just plain grey on the bottom - that's the beauty of it!

Iceblue: Thanks for that link. Much appreciated!

No problem Mickyg!! PM me if you have anymore questions that I may be able to help out with.

Other than that keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing this build progress.

    Blue B))

  12. That is most appreciated! Nothing quite like the real thing for reference and someone who's worked on the real thing is icing on the cake! Thanks heaps!

Any chance you ever saw the aggressor scheme I'll be doing? I'm guessing the cockpit would be the same - far too much trouble to repaint the interior to simulate an enemy plane!

As a matter of fact I have seen the aggressor scheme before and you would be correct with your statement about the cockpit being the same.

I don't have any real life pictures to help you but I have a mother load link that should be far more helpful than any real life image.

Enjoy and let me know if this helps. (note at the bottom of the link it gives you the option to visit the first 3 sections as well)

  13. Thanks for the link, IceBlue. I was beginning to think I was asking for too much! I've gone ahead and ordered a few things from a couple different places, but I'll check these guys out and consider them for future needs!

Glad I could be of some assistance!! :) I think the possible issue here is that this site has been around for over 10 years and

because of this, some questions are redundant. If the questions pose as being redundant than fellow members don't find it necessary to post replies to help out.

Don't get me wrong, I am sure this isn't the intent of our fellow "good hearted" members, but I find it to be a normal occurrence.

Again this is only an observation on my behalf, but one that can be seen by many.

Prime example: this post has had over 70 views and yet I am the only one who has taken the effort to help out. (even if it wasn't completely usable information)

    Blue B))

  14. Precisely what I was thinking! I like the idea of making this similar to other aircraft at the time. Within reason though, I mean there isn't a HUD projector or glass, for instance - do I want to add one or go with the futuristic DYRL style where everything is holo projected onto the inside of the canopy?

I do like the idea of adding missing details but I'm not sure how crazy I want to get. There is an awful lot missing, after all!

    Hi MickyG,

I've done some actual paint applications to F-14 tomcats durning my time in the Navy and after some research I have found a link for you that

is compatible with the actual paint colors I used on the aircraft. The tomcat specifically had a interior green color fabric for the seat

cushions, instruments and majority of the cockpit area where painted in either a semi gloss black 27038 (instrument black),

or flat black 37038 as mentioned in the link. (Exterior) Tactical paint schemes of the time were in shades of gray ranging from

    36321 (top) 36375 (sides) and 36440 (bottom)

    Here's the link: http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/page-RGB-colors-USA.html

Hope this helps you out some and I look forward to seeing your finished project.

    Blue B))

Also I included some pictures that may help (with exterior colors) sorry no pictures for interior
