Master Dex has posted 2 in a row so it's catching up time. On episode 15 I'd just like to mention that it's pretty cool to see all these different kinds of mecha assembled at the fair. After seeing Miria's old red Valk in the last episode, it's a delight to see a fully functioning (and armed) Destroid. It of course begs the question of where people were keeping all this stuff. You can't exactly fit a Destroid in a container, can you? I suppose former servicemen were allowed certain storage privileges. Agree with Dex on the bit were Miria's aide argues that Mylene's flying skills must come from "the great Captain Maximilian Jenus"! While M7 never falls to the level of a "harem anime", one has to point out the fact that Basara does have a lot of female admirers. One can only wonder if when it came out, there were also "shipping wars"? Finally, there are at least 2 Macross II songs in this episode playing in the background at different intervals. The first time I watched M7, I totally missed how much music they use from previous Macross' to fill in when Fire Bomber is not playing.

That one was terrible beyond words and the special effects nothing short of abominable. The worst bit was that on the cover of the DVD it quoted some cinema critic saying "Better than Conan The Barbarian could ever be" Yeah right!

Wonderful both of them. My personal favourite though is the one of Section 2's males looking for a terrorist in a bath house. Genius!

Have not heard the band you mention, but find it delightful that you have the teenage swordswoman Motoko Aoyama as the skin of your mp3 player!

Since I'm all alone at home at the moment I had time to finish Patlabor: The New Files. Seriously, one of the funniest anime ever made. 3 or 4 episodes in particular are just pure comedic genius. Much more lighthearted that the OVA or the movies. Just starting to watch Martian Succesor Nadesico. Can't say I was too impressed by the first episode but let's wait and see.

This movie is definitely not sci-fi, but it manages to make Steven Seagal movies seem exalted and rare pieces of art...

Absolutely hilarious list. I completely agree with the lot of them. I particularly enjoyed Millie Jackson's cover! It made me kinda wonder what kind of people work at a record company that allows those kinds of record covers to make it to release. I mean, isn't there anyone in the whole process who kinda stands up and says... "Mmmh, I kinda think this cover won't sell too well boss.."

If I remember correctly wasn't that cover banned in many places because it presented a girl that was waaaayyyy tooo young on the cover? Of course most of the world got the version that was just the band over a black background.

I remember watching him in a "kind of o.k" french movie with Sophie Marceau. So I suppose that makes the 1%?

IMDB's plot summary does seem to give justice to your candidacy of Solarbabies as one of the worst ever: "In a future in which most water has disappeared from the Earth, we find a group of children, mostly teenagers, who are living at an orphanage, run by the despotic rulers of the new Earth. The group in question plays a hockey based game on roller skates and is quite good. It has given them a unity that transcends the attempts to bring them to heel by the government. Finding an orb of special power, they find it has unusual effects on them.
