  1. For the guy asking how to get the game from the PSN store: I took a look at the PSP game section in the Japanese store and there is no available copy of Ultimate Frontier. You're out of luck. Sorry, man. Still, getting a normal PSP should be relatively easy, I think. I'd keep the Go, since it could be useful. That enormous storage capacity (for a handheld) is pretty good. Keep something in mind, though: Sony said (said, get it?) that they will upload the games to the PSN, so it SHOULD be a matter of time until they do so. Still, for buying games on the japanese PSN store, you need to LIVE in Japan and pay with a Japanese credit card OR buy a JAPANESE PSN prepaid card online. If my memory serves me right, National Console Support has or had some. You could also look somewhere else, I don't think they're that hard to obtain... That said, I haven't done it myself! So I can't help you more than this. I occasionally take a look at what the Japanese PSN has, so if I see MUF, I can post it here.
  2. Well, regarding controls, I prefer Real. I went for it from the very start. I liked Normal in Ace Frontier, but when I knew Ultimate Frontier would have the option to use the new real mode for Fighter, I started drooling. I can even handle speed and quick changes just fine. I'm used to VF-X2 and the PS2 Macross. Beating the AFOS can be easier than that. Just stay in Gerwalk and keep a considerable distance. Keep firing with the gunpod and when you run out, use the head turret's laser, just change to Battroid and keep running in a perpendicular direction to its line of sight. If you stay behind it, it works better. When she starts teleporting and looking at you, change to fighter and get the hell away from that place because she'll likely unleash a beam attack. I used the VF-0A. I've unlocked many things already. Any idea on how to get Klan with her fast pack? On some good news, I got another PS3. I'm still using my account in case anyone wants to try adhoc party!!
  3. I have gone to the place I never thought I'd ever go... It didn't pass by my mind EVER... E-V-E-R... Where is that, you ask? Under the Giant Ranka's skirt!! And wanna know what is down there? NOTHING!! Her legs are attached to nothingness. I was evading her attacks with chaff as I took a nosedive. What happened then is that I went back to Gerwalk, only to find myself under her skirt. I escaped the attack, but went back to take the pic. Hahahaha! Oh, man. I had a great laugh. Keith, I've given up on uploading the pictures. Please send me a PM with your email so I can send them to you. I'll include the Airy Underpants of the Giant Ranka.
  4. Nono, I have no trouble taking pics (and the plugin does so with a better quality), what I want to know is how to upload them here for you. I have some pics of Klan looking badass already.
  5. I can take snapshots with my PSP (plugin in the CFW), but I have no idea how to post the pics here. Pointers? Emilia, I don't know. I haven't played much of the 7 Missions. Honestly, 7 is my least favorite, but I'll take a look just because of curiosity. Regarding Liza, Raramia, Nene and Kanaria, I'm sure they're not included. Same with Chlore, whose machine we saw in a scan. Reason is that their names showed up while fighting, but they don't get a portrait and of course no voices. I'd have liked if they included them as well as the other series specific bridge operators. Honestly, I was expecting to see Bobby. He made me choke laughing several times and he really kicked ass as the pilot for the Macross Quarter. Sure, Captain Assgrab called the shots, but the pilot was Bobby.
  6. I'll help you. At the main menu, before loading file and whatnot, go to Option>Control. At the upper left corner, you'll see FLIGHT TYPE highlited. Select it with Circle and and press up for normal. Exit with X, then select your file and enjoy. I personally prefer the Real controls, but I'm not about to bash the normal ones because they were very comfortable for me too. Hooray for being given options!
  7. I finished the Frontier missions. They are REALLY great, which was a huge relief because in MAF, they pretty much sucked. Fast Pack Klan IS there, much to my enormous joy. I did not expect her to be included, but hey! I was proven wrong, and I'm happy it happened. Anyone got the VF-2SS? My wishlist for the next one is to have Kanaria, Liza Hoyly, Raramia and Nene. A Macross II campaign would be really cool and an original campaign would make it legendary. Oh, oh... I was forgetting. Can I bother a Limited Edition owner with a request? Could any of you make a high quality scan of the Mikimoto illustration with the Macross heroines? I'd like to make a big wallpaper when I have the time.
  8. Okay, in the light that I'm not about to abandon the Custom Firmware and that my copy was mailed to me yesterday from NCSX, I decided to indulge in the ISO, as most likely I won't be able to play the actual UMD with my 5.50 version of the firmware. For those who want the experience of discovering the feel of the game, stop reading as I will comment on mechanics and observations regarding the game. . . . . . . . . . . Custom Soundtrack is real. Still, I don't know yet how to activate the music I stuck it in the memory stick. Upon running the game for the first time, the game creates a folder called MUF and other subfolders inside (I didn't count) for you to put music in them. Tune Points, I dunno. I'm stuck using the VF-0D which was not present in the last game. Perhaps someone who is playing a more advanced game can tell? Real controls are actually very nice for me. Fighter plays very similar to the VF-X2 game, only this time the camera sticks to the rear part of the VF. Battroid and Gerwalk don't differ from the normal control. I dunno yet about other portions of the story since I picked Zero. I'll comment more later. I don't plan on sleeping... Little edit: The AI seems better as enemies don't just move like ducks and shoot at you. Focker was especially annoying in a "training session" Remember? When Shin got all painted up. Misa is available from the start Tried the Nyan Nyan Shop... Ranka and Sheryl appear one at a time. Ranka's "Kira!" is starting to grate on my friggin' nerves. The AI is certainly ferocious. I got killed by a small squad of Octos... Something I didn't mention before is that this time around, the custom colors for you and your partner are separate. My character has a dark blue VF-0A and my partner has a dark purple of the same machine. You can also cycle between your three characters of which I got SeƱor Luis Fernando, Miyuki and Yui, the green haired girl who is more than happy most of the time... I like her. She's fun to use. I'd like to know who her VA is. The stages are bigger this time around. Or it might be that the VF-0 (D and A so far) are slow as hell so it takes forever to go up and down. Still, they don't suck as much as the VF-0S from the last game. They feel like an introductory machine, which is nice. The exhaust on the back of the Valkyrie has a nice "heat effect". I started another file with Macross Frontier to try the VFs of that era. It seems that tune points don't carry over... Note the "seems" please. The dialogue in the missions has more character interaction this time around to reflect the story. We even get Ranka getting scared to death. I have to add that the first mission is sort of similar to the first Frontier mission in MAF. Still, this time it continues onto the city. Regarding the custom soundtrack, I dunno if it's random or what, but the music that played as I chose characters was one of the ones I stuck in the memory stick. Maybe, just maybe putting a song in X folder takes over X song in the game? (This is speculation on my part.) I.HATE.PINON!!! Everything about her is annoying. But hey, I'm just a loli hater. I can't stand them. You may react otherwise. The antimissile function with the 100 is a sort of timer. You activate it and keep the gunpod button pressed and the timer will go down. Once you release the button, it will go back to its initial state. This is only in Battroid and Gerwalk. If you are in Fighter mode, you use chaff instead, which is nice, as it keeps one from wasting time transforming to shoot down the missiles. Once you finish a mission, you can check how your progress in the trust/love aspect develops by pressing right on the pad. Finally got the VF-25... and in the first mission it appears ready for use, the Macross Quarter shows up too piloted by none other than Jeffry "Assgrab" Wilder! YEAH! Okay, I went to the Nyan Nyan Shop (The next time I hear "Kira!", I'll pop a blood vessel...) and bought the music selection mode. The list is incomplete since you have to buy the music at said shop. Still, when selecting "My Boyfriend is a Pilot" and testing the song, I got "Northern Cross", which is the one I stuck at the folder (you can preview too, so you know which song you're getting). The custom soundtrack works by putting the songs in the folders in the MUF folder in MUSIC. Then the songs replace the in-game songs, so if you want a certain songs, you have to choose which to leave and which to replace. The folders are numbered and the song list inside the game is too, so there is less confusion. I hadn't noticed. Your selected character doesn't have his/her own skills. This time you choose a support character which in my case can be Miyuki, Yui, Hilda, Klan or Sheryl. It's not bringing a singer like it seemed to me. It's bringing a copilot with you. That character has certain skills which just seem to be the same for all, only unlocked in different orders for each. Still, Sheryl comes with an already unlocked command skill which is HER (even with an icon that seems taken straight from the 16 bit era, heheh). Maybe Ranka comes with a "Ranka" skill, Ishtar with an "Ishtar" skill and so on... More will be learnt as we play along. Geh... That's it from me. I'm sleepy and my reaction time is down on the ground. I keep getting pummeled. Oh. You don't get a set player character you PLAY AS. Instead, you get three characters and can choose whichever. They all have their own relationships with the other characters. The graphics seem way better. The textures slightly embellished and there are some new, nice effects like the glare of the sun, etc. Oh, just a small addition: The Super Pack equipment acts as an armor. I took a direct hit of a Vajra beam attack and when I was damning my stinking luck for getting caught in it (they are aggressive!), I noticed my "life" bar going down and then the equipment was purged. My VF-25 was mostly unharmed and unleashed the effing fury on the Vajra. I suppose some of the questions you had and didn't post could be answered with this, Keith.
  9. Oh. Thanks. That's true. I guess I'll have to wait some time to grab another PS3... And I was just waiting for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 to come out. I was passing by the store I was hoping to buy it at while walking home. There it is, but eh... But as you said, yep. Still in one piece.
  10. Ummm... Mind sending a link or how-to via PM? I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive, and I don't want to abandon the CF in order to play this game. My PSP is necessary as a calculator with function plotting for me. The need for the CF is for more than just playing.
  11. I'm still waiting for mine... Fortunately, I still have my PSP with me...
  12. I'm afraid I'll be stuck offline now. A bunch of nice chaps came into my house and ransacked it...
  13. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! yes!!! YES!!! YYYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!! CUSTOM SOUNDTRACKS! all right! My complains over not seeing the Nyan Nyan Service Medley are now discarded! This game is not going to leave my UMD tray in the following year! That's it... I wouldn't care if the game had 50 Cent. With the Custom Soundtrack, everything can be solved! Yeah! Excuse me while I go now to the floor to convulse in a stroke of joy.
  14. Well, in the scan showing Battle Galaxy, there is a giant Ranka...
  15. I posted a tutorial for Adhoc Party here, if my memory doesn't fail me... But I forgot where! Haha! I suck. Can someone give this fellow fan a link to the mini tutorial? I... Well, I forgot where I posted it, heheh... Oh, Murphy. If you want, add me on the PSN. My PSN handle is down in my sig. A Macross fan on Adhoc Party is a rare and sorely needed person indeed, as AdhocParty is Macross-player-barren. =)
  16. I think I just had a fangasm... DAMN! I consider myself pretty much a purist, and I too want a reanimation of the original Macross. BADLY.
  17. Damn you! You have the cash! =P Just wondering... Since I use a custom firmware... And looking through the options for it... It SEEMS, I can run UMDs from other regions... Hmmm... But eh... I had money only to buy the regular version, so why should I care now? Boohoo... Anyway, this wait is killing me... I want Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 as well... NNNNGGGGHH!!! It hurts to wait this long!! Oh, I forgot. I was watching the commercial for MUF, and noticed Minmay talking. Is Mari Iijima reprising her role here? Or is it a new VA? I was wondering, since she sounded so different. Also, the last role I heard her on was as Aska in the Cy Girls game for the PS2, which upon finishing kicked me on the balls because of the surprise. I then ran a search, and lo and behold! It was Ms. Iijima. THIRD EDIT: THE SITE WAS UPDATED WITH A MOVIE!! GO WATCH! CTHULHU COMMANDS THEE!! Or well, at least Misa commands you... =P
  18. Ghost town... Sounds about right. All I see people playing in there is Monster Hunter Whatever. Not even Phantasy Star Portable seems popular anymore... Boohoo. A good people bunching for MUF would kick major ass. Probably as soon as it comes out, there will be people playing it. Or so I hope. Anyway, what machines would you all use, and what colors? I'm partial to the VF-1S, VF-22S the VF-25F and awaiting the VF-2SS myself. Since MAF has color editing, there are some really nice customization possibilities. I tend to prefer dark colors for the main body and reds or blues for the highlights.
  19. I know there are not many with PS3s, but hey, with the price drop of the PS3, it'd be sweet if some more people would get on Adhoc Party. And if there is a MWcon next year, since I know I won't be able to attend, at least setting a match using a PS3 would be feasible. That way, people that can't attend, but ARE Macross fans, could get their little bite of the con, don't you think?
  20. Heheh. I had forgotten about the delivery time... Damn. I suppose I COULD get into the semi legal-illegal realm of downloading an ISO. I mean, I already paid for it. Still, it doesn't feel right. I'll have to strenghten my patience... But man, once I get that thing in my hands, I'm gonna be twitching like a chicken with an epileptic seizure... And I KNOW everyone in my house will be pestering me for stupid stuff. It happens every time... Fortunately, this one is on the PSP, so I can bring it with me to school and work. MUAHAHAHA... And when people at school pester me for letting them play, I can just say it's in Japanese. Works every time. >=)
  21. All this waiting is killing me... And the release is still a month away!! AAAAARGH!!!
  22. Just because you asked nicely, I went with Baldr Sky. =) I didn't know that game... Sounds interesting... Although I'm not into "moe" characters...
  23. Wasn't she like... sixteen when she was an idol? Or 18 in the movie version? I don't remember... In any case, she was a teenager. But maaaaaaybe, just maaaaybe Mikimoto is a closet loli otaku? =P
  24. If you are asking about National Console Support, I have ordered all my imports from them, and they have yet to fail me. I placed my preorder of MUF with them too, given that my preorder of MAF last year came nicely and all. One thing I like about National Console Support is that they're actually very quick when dealing with customers. I've had questions, and they have answered in a lapse of 3 hours in average (yeah, I have made the math, I'm that crazy). When I had trouble because a game I wanted to order (Anubis: Zone of the Enders Special Edition to be precise) had run out and they weren't planning on restocking soon, they restocked quicker and I placed my order with them. I was considering ordering the limited version, but well... With the region lock, and given that I don't know if the custom firmware I use will cut it when I actually get the game, I decided to just order the regular version. Still, that interview with Shoji Kawamori seems too interesting to stop bothering me anytime soon. Regarding the UMD games and regional locks, nope, no locks there. A friend tried my MAF disc with his official firmware PSP. Movie discs are a whole different ballgame, however...
  25. Mexican? Hoho... I thought I was the only one... Regarding that illustration... I think I just wet my pants and am swimming in my own drool... If someone finds a good resolution version of the image, let's try making wallpapers off it! I KNOW my computer needs a new one... Just as much as my PSP and PS3.
