Not sure if forum policies allow sharing that type of thing. Also, the subs I've made are simple srt files. That's the most basic subtitle setup out there. No fancy sub placement or colors. Just video playing and subs at the bottom. Not all people like that. But if there are no issues with openly sharing them, I have zero problems in making them available to any fellow fans.
Whatever you could do, would be greatly appreciated. I'd compensate you for it too, if that even makes any sense. In any case, for those of us who chose the dark side and watched the fansubs, I've got some points to discuss:
Spoiler1. The UN fleet seems to have better ships, but not with the technology or power that even the ancient Yamato has. What gives? Is this because of the informal agreement that Okita made with Starsha?
2. I think it was a mistake to reveal the Yamato so early in the story. Unless I'm remembering it wrong, the Yamato came to life in the original Comet Empire series when Kodai and his people were desperate to try their own hand at defeating the Comet Empire. Revealing the Yamato now will remove the dramatic effect of it being resurrected later in the story when things invariably get more bleak for Earth.
3. Can any of the characters be that surprised that wave weaponry not only remains but has been developed into something stronger? Not to get political, but just because one man makes a promise with an arguably delusional woman on a distant planet, doesn't mean that the rest of the universe is going to follow suit. The Gatlantians (sp?) clearly don't care, you could say that the Gamilans may not have cared either. For the sake of survival, Earth has to carry the biggest stick possible.
4. I didn't get my wish of a redesigned Andromeda, bristling with more guns and weapons than the original, but dare I say it looks a lot leaner and meaner than the one I can remember from the original Comet Empire series. Anyone else notice that? Or is it just me.
Can't think of anything else as of now, but I'll post up more thoughts as I come across them...

I'm not too proud to say that I went the fansub route either, but oh well. "When" Bandai Visual finally decides to open this up to those of us outside of Japan, I'll gladly support it legitimately.
Meanwhile....THOSE TWO EPISODES ARE FRAKKING AWESOME...

I don't put much stock in the words of career critics. I want to see what the fans have to say; what WE have to say. I will be there on the 19th with my 18" alien figure, ready to be thrilled or disappointed...

It is strange that Hijikata is not on Andromeda but Yanamami is leading the fleet. I think he will show up somewhere because he is on the Blu-ray cover. I thought Yanamami would be captain of one of the other Andromeda class ships. Unless he is and the video is trying to throw us off.
Hijikata is probably cruising around on some vessel that will dwarf the Andromeda in power and dramatic effect, to be seen later in the story.

I haven't seen Prometheus because I heard it was horrible and none of the trailers were interesting looking anyway. One of the primary reasons it sucked, I've heard, is because none of the characters were rational or made any sense, so in this case it seems to be in keeping with her character.
You can say that about any group of characters in any movie. You've watched Star Wars right? Aren't the Jedi in the prequel movies the dumbest, most clueless miserable bunch of idiots there ever were, what with everything that was going on in front of their smug Jedi faces? Just watch Prometheus, I'll bet you may even like it...

Damn straight. Say what you will about the prequels but at least they tried new things. Not too crazy about the X Wing do-over either. Why even bother to do episodes after 6 if this is going to be the case?

According to the latest official announcement, the 3 meter Andromeda model will be exhibited at Shizuoka Hobby Show in May. Its scale is 1/ 135, approximately 10 feet.
It will be held from the 11th to 14th and it is a official one, so that exhibited for all days.
Well, I am so sorry but I won't go there this year...
Will there be an HLJ pre-order in the near future? Lol...

Pretty clear to me it was Luke. In any case, I hope they copy Empire for episode 8 as they did with New Hope for episode 7; seeing Luke ride piggyback on Rey while she runs around and does flips will be hilarious...

It was great to watch it again but in the comfort of my own home. Even better was watching it with my sphero BB-8 I hope sphero keeps making these updates as the movies continue to be released.
What update did they make to your BB unit?

I couldn't even watch Apocalypse through all the way the first time, I thought it was that bad...

hehe! I also saw the F&F trailer and also cringed! Those movies are just dreadful..
When we saw GITS there was only about 10 people in the cinema including my son and I.
I stopped enjoying Fast after #4, which is where it should've ended.
As for Scarlett in the Shell, I thought the movie was incredibly slow paced and equally shocked that it was only an hour and forty six minutes long; it felt like Return of the King, as the story moved so slowly. Part of my frustration was my inability to sympathize with Scarlett's pain; there was this painfully obvious identity, who am I crisis going on but it was so simplistically presented and acted so shallow and carried no weight through Scarlett that it just didn't work for me.
Yes, this is probably the best anime to live adaptation there is, but that isn't staying much, since animated to live adaptations are Teh suck, anyway. Maybe if they had picked an actress who's worth a little more than T & A and/or have writing that isn't such an "empty shell" to begin with...

Just saw this movie last night. I'll say it is simultaneously my favorite super-hero movie, as well as one of the saddest movies I've ever experienced. I was truly depressed leaving the theater. And how long has this movie been showing? The theater was packed for this...

Hey boys, I know that this thread mostly covers the latest, greatest, and most exotic machines on four wheels, but I was hoping to get your opinions on a dilemma I have with my own cars.
I've been told that airbag systems, that normally NEVER get serviced during the lifetime of a vehicle, face increasing odds of not working or even malfunctioning as the years go on. Also, I was in an accident a few months ago where the airbags seemed to do more damage to my passenger than they did in protecting her from harm, from what I could tell. Putting this car back on the road was also more complicated with the blown airbags, as insurance immediately totaled it and then I had to replace the airbag system. Therefore, I was thinking about pulling the fuses(s) and disabling the airbags in my vehicles, since I am starting to doubt their functionality as well as their ability to safeguard my passengers and I, anyway. Lastly, I drive around in my '69 Charger that obviously has no airbags, and I figure if it's good enough for the Dodge it's good enough for all of the other vehicles.
The cars in question are my '97 Camaro Z28, '98 Mustang GT, '99 Firebird T/A WS6 and an '01 Mustang GT. What say you, MW gearheads?

Too Giger-ey for me...

Never noticed that ship had only one turret in the back, not to mention the two in the front. What is with the new EDF ships having less turrets than that bucket of bolts Yamato?

Beyond was directed by Justin Lin.
Yeah I know. I was refering to the cast and their specific storyline, which many refer to as JJ Abrams' Trek. And if Justin Lin is now helming this particular cast and universe then I'd say it's probably over...

I'm getting old but I have crossed over to the dark side - I would much rather have a digital only copy of a film or book these days. If 2202 came out on Netflix I would be very happy, happier to have it on Amazon or Comcast for purchase. If disks are all I can get then I will get them.
Lord knows I'd actually be able to sit in my living room if I didn't have it piled up with books, games, cd's and movies...

Not only that but I like having hard copies of media. Movies, music, games; I have hard copies of all of that stuff-I even have cassettes for my 80's metal bands. I can't/won't rely on streaming only....

That last trailer gave me pause, the kind of pause that the fist Star Trek: Beyond trailer gave me, and I despised that film.
Yeah Beyond was quite the disappointment. I'm wondering if that film marks the end of the JJ Abrams Trek...

It just doesn't make any sense not to subtitle it right away. When, and even IF Japan arranges a deal to distribute 2202 with English support in other countries, the majority of the people who would have purchased 2202 legitamitely won't want or need to after they've streamed/downloaded it through piracy. Is there more to making profit and marketing and all that? Maybe, and I sure wouldn't know about it, but this matter seems pretty clear to me...
-
Interesting point about the lack of subtitles: that including subtitles NOW would prevent them from selling 2202 to distributors in other countries if people had already bought the blu rays from Japan directly. I get that; however piracy will definitely distribute 2202 long before any deals are struck between Japan and the rest of the world. In the long run, Japan should've included subtitles from the get-go, IMO...

From a company that rarely produces anything new/original, and excels at repackaging old content ad infinitum, my money is on this being a book filled with reprints of art that has already been released in various other forms. You'll recall that they released three volumes of Robotech art books back in the 80s, Robotech Art 1, Art 2, and Art 3. They'll probably reprint the same line art from the Macross section of Art 1, maybe add some of the comic book art or some newer art from Tommy Yune.
Well asides from the Legioss' and the Treads, wasn't Art 3 mostly original work?
Yamato 2202
in Anime or Science Fiction
Posted
You beat me to it; I had just spent the last few hours re-watching the Comet Empire series on dvd and seeing how the Yamato thing played out. I actually like the idea that the Yamato is moth-balled in 2202 and will invariably be recalled into action.
As for the wave gun usage, I don't think the UN had a choice in that first battle. The allied fleet seemed to have met its match and that super dreadnought made it all the way back to Earth. I think they exercised the only possible option. Of course, using the wave guns puts Earth on a whole new playing field of warfare. But then again, Zordar seemed to be more interested in Theresa (sp?) reaching out to Earth?
I'm curious to see how they're going to play out the rocky relationship between the Terrans and the Gamilans. Everyone from the common citizens to the leaders seem to have a wariness towards one another and that tension will have to break at some point.
Also, I'd like to see what they're going to do with Shima as well; looks like he's already opposed to whatever Kodai and the rest of the crew are beginning to plan.
Thanks for the information on the Andromeda class; clearly they've tuned up that ship but can you tell if the appearance is different as well?
Finally, I hope others will chime in on the discussion lol, and I certainly hope we're not breaking any forum rules considering the method in which we watched 2202...
