  1. Just got back from seeing this movie on a whim, and I'm glad I did. I don't think I've ever been more pessimistic about a movie, but after seeing it I can say that I've never been more suprised about how much I enjoyed it.

Gal Gadot may not have the boobs or the butt that I think Wonder Woman should have, and her accent is off-putting also, but she is beautiful and she played the part of Diana so endearingly that you can't help but fall for her and the rest of the movie.  I also LOVE what they did for the costume; somehow the update doesn't make a half-naked woman running through a battlefield seem corny like I thought it would.

I could go on and on, but suffice to say this is one of my favorite superhero movies to date, right behind Ironman #1, Avengers and the Dark Knight Trilogy. Gal has made me a fan of herself and the movie.

    I do have questions, though:

    Spoiler

*what happened to the German cruiser/destroyer/whatever ship that made it through the barrier concealing the Amazon island?

*why can't Diana return to the island?  Is this part of the Wonder Woman mythology?

*is Diana just lucky that she managed to evade the thousdands of rounds shot at her?  Her sisters didn't seem to fare so well on the island.

  2. I totally forgot that they never released Starsha; a wasted opportunity indeed.  They could've had her posed with her hand on her belly, the way we last saw her in '99 when it was implied that she got knocked up by whats-his-face...

First wow bad decisions all over the place.  I think. If Danny McBride was on the landing party he would have killed David the moment he found out he was creating all this crap.

I feel like this was a slap in the face to anyone that wanted to see where Shaw was going. Instead she's killed off screen and her body is mutilated.  She fought so hard to survive and find answers. Now David is in control of everything.  What's the point of being vested into any new characters being a bad ass and out smarting the alien if they are just going to be dead the next movie.  I've always questioned if Ridley even considered aliens as part of the lore and it doesn't seem so.  I would have been fine if the destroyers where the main menace and no xenos at all but instead it's a crazy robot.  At this point just call it David covenant. And next David awakening.

    Spoiler

Yeah I was looking forward to Noomi's reprisal of her role in Prometheus, and she does so as a corpse?  Good Lord lol.  Oh, and you gotta love one of the final battles against the xenomorph: you have a ship taking flight and your solution to deal with it is to GO OUTSIDE OF YOUR AIRBORNE CRAFT TO FIGHT IT?  Back to the beginning of the movie, I can't believe the Lander pilot came apart that easily.  I mean, she was supposed to be some sort of cool-hands, insterstellar pilot but completely loses it at the sight of blood?  I wish we could review Weiland Yutani's employee selection processes...

  4. Well, I'm about 11 years late to the party but I picked up a PSP.  Well, two of them actually, a 1000 and a 3000 series model.  So far I've got Gradius Collection, Afterburner for games with Macross Frontier on the way.  I really want Parodius but it's just too expensive.  Oddly enough I have about a half dozen UMD movies already.  Any of you guys ever get into the PSP or maybe still mess around with it?

  5. Finally saw the movie.

Well, some tried to say that this is the "Alien" movie for the new millenium.  If that's the case, then I feel sorry for the new millenium.

Covenant just doesn't carry the horror or the suspense of the original Alien.  Covenant just feels like a standard monster movie with everyone doing stupid things and scrambling for cover.  I think, like someone before me mentioned, that if the Alien was more shadow than actually visible then that would bring back a lot of the fear and the thrill of the original movie. Instead, they fully show the creature to bolster the gore effect, which is what this movie was clearly more concerned with.  Overall I enjoyed it, but at this point they really should consider shelving the idea of trying to add on to the series, for good...

Just a comment, the Yamato took out the Gatlantis DN with it's shock canons.  The wave motion gun from the Andromeda didn't seem to actually hit the DN, the same DN took two hits from the Andromeda turrets 3 and 4, with no apparent effect.    That seem to be odd because it implies that the Andromeda shock cannons aren't as powerful as what is on the Yamato.  I'll also note that inthe original series, the wave gun was not considered a big deal.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the battle, but that one could be nitpicked to death.  i.e. why was the Unagi the only one that was flying in and out of the Gatlantis formation, while everyone else lined up like a bunch of toy soldiers on a firing line

    Spoiler

Yeah my sense of awe with the powerful debut of the Andromeda quickly faded when it let the dreadnought get away; while seemingly barely scratching it with the shots from its cannons...

  7. If you want to avoid ordering figures you'll need to stay out of this thread.  That's what I do when I need to cool it with ordering figures for a while to let the wallet heal.  I'm probably going to order that figure you linked to though...
