    Bandai DX VF-31

Oh my goodness. The preordres open right when I'll be having my driving test. (T.T)
  2. So basically, "Evo Toy's VF-2ss Valkyrie II arrived and what can I say... As expected, it feels cheap and the transformation and articulation is no good. Because of the shoddy materials and construction, it creaks when you move it and parts fall out of place easily. This is a product that will induce MAX stress just by touching it." Wow... kinda harsh.
  3. Okay, let's flip that around then. Do you feel that it's strange for grown women who like watching movies like Transformers (that are targeted towards teen boys)? Also, I actually watched the episode raw as I'm not a fan of gg in the slightest... I didn't want to ruin the experience with their notorious trolling. "Japanese doughnuts"? Yeah... Same old, same old.
  4. I have absolute confidence that they will only appear once in such a flashy manner (or at least have completely different outfits/animation each time). Every episode would also be unlikely as they would only "transform" for the battles. Modern magical girl shows that are not a villain-of-the-week series are pretty particular about only showing an extended transformation sequence once throughout the entire run. This is especially true for shorter anime that have a higher budget as the stock transformation scenes are usually used as filler. Also saw this interesting comment by WhatShtIsThis on another forum:
  5. I'm a (straight) guy. I like girls. I like magic. I like magical girls. It's as simple as that. It doesn't have to target me for me to find meaning and enjoyment in something. People can't be that easily generalized. Not to mention, the genera doesn't decide its content, tone or direction. Take Nanoha and Madoka for example. But, if you want to talk about target audience, shows don't target just one audience demographic. It's been known for ages that Precure targets girls 4 - 12 and boys 19 - 35. Each group can find something to like about it. Have you ever seen the fight scenes in Precure?

    Bandai 1/35 DX VF-1

Only gripe is that I wished it would have been a VF-1S!

    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

Come on Bandai, give us a brand new YF-21 after all these years!
  8. Does the draken transform? (Of course it does...) Can't wait to see the battroid mode on that!
  9. Oh my goodness! That Draken's color scheme of dark blue/gold is absolutely gorgeous. I love how they have the prototypes of the toys already ready to show off. (^.^
  10. I don't think subversion can be a theme in and of itself. Besides, Macross Plus did that with the reverse love triangle.
  11. I freaking love angel/feathered wings. Some say they look pretentious, I can't disagree more. However, I have no idea how that's going to be executed. Not only will it be a mess of a toy, it's going to be hard to explain how that's necessary in a non-atmosphere environment.
  12. Wow. You're spot on. Couldn't have said it better myself! Though, to be dreadfully honest, if they're going to re-use designs, more YF-21/VF-22 inspired designs would push all the right buttons for me though. Can't get enough of how that sleek jet can turn into that bulky battroid. By back kibble, I do believe they're referring to the battroid mode where the wings just simply hang off the back. The 21 and 17 have pretty much flat backs.
  13. Just like Speaker Pods! Only with more expendable humans!
  14. ...that has a new design and transformation scheme that doesn't copy the VF-25, VF-27 and VF-29. Something as different as the 19 and 21 was in Plus.
  15. Out of curiosity, why are landing gear white on aircraft?
  16. Lol, only now did I realize that I mixed up Gamlin with Guld... Well, I still mix up Tuesday with Thursday and June for July, so yeah. Gimmie more Valks in that sweet Blue and Yellow.
  17. If you're referring to page 22 of the instruction manual, that picture is very deceptive as it's mostly an illustration. By collapsing the inner shoulder flap all the way, it has enough space to "click" into the inner leg armor, fit into the right spot by itself and secure everything in place.
  18. I have made a video detailing how I install the fast pack (evidently called the Advance Pack) with everything I have discovered when playing with the toy: what to look out for and how to get everything aligned. Please do let me know if it helps!
  19. Absolutely brilliant review as always. I've pretty much seen all your macross stuff. (^.^) However... I really don't want to be the bearer of bad news/wet blanket/party pooper, but your leg(s) are in the wrong position, causing the wing to warp and the shoulder to not line up properly. It's pretty much the same issue that Roanstalker was experiencing.
  20. This is definitely a very interesting take on design philosophy. However, I am of a different opinion. In most cases, I would argue that the lack of proper, clear, understandable instructions is the main cause of transformation agony, not complex design or lack of points of right on the toy itself. Many times, the user is unaware of how to go about doing something and is unaware of the points of right to begin with due to not being made privy by the instructions (and the language barrier doesn't help). For instance, there is a correct way in which the YF-21's legs transform, but without clear instructions, the user has no way of knowing that there is an extra click to the knee to enable that black screw to be hidden. With my Rubik's Cube analogy, you can solve it because there are good instructions to guide you though the process. But without those instructions, there is only frustration to be had with the toy. That's where experimentation and the finding of alternate ways of solving come in. I argue that there are indeed points of right on the VF-19 to ensure that you can get a very clean-looking Valkyrie (lining up is in and of itself a point of right), but the instructions just aren't explicit enough, so you'll have to discover those for yourselves.
  21. As I said, that's my personal opinion and approach. If you don't agree, please feel free to point out why you believe I'm wrong or offer an alternative to challenge mine. I just feel that some toys get unfairly bashed - you see this a lot in reviews where the reviewer gets upset with a toy or paints it in bad light for their own mishandling of it.
  22. You have to pull them upwards first before swinging them out, allowing them enough room to do so... I approach transforming toys the same way I approach puzzles. I don't blame the Rubik's Cube if I'm not able to solve it. (^.^') Once you understand the mechanics of the toy, transforming it will be a breeze.
