1. Mine just arrived today. All I can say is HOLY $%&@!!!! This is an amazing kit. I have been trying to brace myself for the size and high quality of it, based on the pictures in this thread, but nothing quite prepares you for the first time you open the large box and pull out one of the main body pieces. I'm not sure when I'll have time to build it (or the space to properly display it), but when I do, it's going in a place of honor.
2. Sorry for the delays, guys. I'll be getting back to everyone today.
3. They can be printed as either stickers or decals.
4. Sample pics of the new VF-0S, Stealth Valk, Stealth FAST Pack sets can be found below. They can be printed as either decals or stickers. I went with a Low Vis scheme for the Stealth, seeing as white markings stand out a lot against the dark colors of the valk. The grey on these sets, unlike the standard Low Vis sets I make, is OPAQUE. This means that the grey will show up on the dark colors. Quite nicely, actually. The small white numbers on the FAST Pack sheet are for custom numbering on the booster skulls. The VF-0S set is pretty much a repro of the Yamato sheet, but I had to do a lot of cleanup on their designs. Probably their worst sticker sheet to date. Prices are the usual: $10 each. Click on the following link for ordering instructions and a list of everything I sell. I'm at 75 different sets now, I think: Link to thread in For Sale forum
5. Health should always come first. I can wait a while if you want to hold off on shipping mine until you feel better.
6. Well, the original sheet is currently scaled for 1/72 Hasegawa models. Assuming that Yamato did their homework when it came to scaling their toys, the fit should be pretty good. The sheet consists mainly of specialty markings, though, so it's not a good replacement for the stickers that come with the toy. Here's a picture of the sheet:
7. The only Macross Plus set I have on hand right now is the Hasegawa option decal sheet, which I have sized to fit a wide range of valk scales. I've thought about making repros of the Macross Plus Yamato sticker sheets, but I would need good scans of the originals to work from (I don't have any of the valks).
8. Well, my hands are pretty much tied on this one, unfortunately. I know that it's not ideal, and I feel really bad when I picture everyone squinting at the GBP sheet trying to figure out where to cut, but the alternative (no decals) is far worse. The only suppliers of blue-backed decal paper compatible with an ALPS printer here in the US are unreliable, way too slow, way too expensive, or have horrible quality control. Believe me, I've tried them all and spent a lot of my own money and time doing it. The best supplier I have found only makes white-backed decal paper. I have asked him to make blue-backed decal paper, but it would be a big change in his production process so he's not really interested. I feel fortunate that I even found this guy, so I try not to push my luck. At one point, I almost gave up decal production because of the suppliers I had to deal with....
9. Lookin' good, Mike! I can't wait to get my hands on one of these kits, although I have no idea where I am going to display the behemoth when it's done. That wing looks like it belongs to a YF-19, but I could be way off....
10. Nice work, Brian! Of all the sets I make, the MG1 Strike is probably the most difficult to work with. How well the custom has turned out is a testament to your skill. Are you going to customize the armor and RMS-1 nukes to match? It would be a shame to have that part of the decal set go to waste....
11. Standard sets for valks and FAST packs are $10 each. Only the specialty sets are more expensive--and that's because they take up A LOT of decal paper, ink, and coating solution. I keep the prices as low as possible so that you don't have to choose between applying crappy stickers and buying a new valk.
12. Lookin' good, Brian! Can't wait to see the Minmay Guards!
13. I care a great deal for this community. I refuse to do business with someone who disrespected other MW members (and a moderator) that were only trying to help you with your customization questions. Doing so would validate your poor behavior. Mods, please close this topic. I will create a new one when the Stealth and VF-0S sets are ready for production.
14. Request for sets like that are covered by a custom order. If all you need are recolored/resized kites, it will be pretty cheap. $5 per quarter sheet of decal paper. If you can provide the number and size of kites you need, I can give you a total. It never hurts to know exactly which colors should be used for LV markings, so any information you can provide would be welcome. I based the Stealth set on the colors of the valk itself and tried to find a shade of grey that would work well.
15. Like I said, I'm a complete novice when it comes to anything other than Macross. I believe Legioss is what I have been asked for on more than a few occasions, so Gakken it is. I guess that it doesn't really matter, though, since the toy is identical. What I won't be able to do is reproduce the factory-applied stickers unless I have one of the toys with the stickers applied to work with (or really, really good close-up photos of them with a scale included). I did receive the Cyclone scan, but I was wondering if it would be possible to get that one (and the Legioss sets) scanned in at a resolution higher than 72dpi. Perhaps 300dpi? When I zoomed in on the scans to start the repro work I couldn't make out enough detail on the stickers with lettering to be able to recreate them.... 399704 Hey Devin, Legioss is Mospeada, Alpha is Robotech. They\'re one in the same with a different name. The sets you have planned are for the 1/35 Gakken versions? BTW-did you recieve the Cyclone decals? (crosses fingers) 399710
16. I can add those pretty quickly. I'll make them grey, too.
17. Legioss. I have an MPC Alpha and might make stickers/decals for those, too. I think Takatoys already made a sticker set for it, though....
18. Here's a sample of what the Stealth designs are going to look like. I still might tweak them a little bit, but all markings are either grey or black and should show up well on the dark surfaces of the valk and armor. The valk set will be $10, as will the Armor set. $20 for both. I am NOT taking orders right now. I need a little break from production and I want to create the VF-0S set before I take new orders. I will post here and in the For Sale forum when the sets are ready to purchase.
19. Darn tampo printing.... Looks like I'll have to include a LV kite symbol for the wing that can be placed on top of the current one.... I'll get started on adapting the Low Vis sheets I already created for the valk and FAST Packs....
20. Really!? That's terrible! Guess I'll have to create something from scratch that will match the valk's color scheme. All the same, I'd like to see a good scan of the sheets just to be sure.
21. So my fiancee is cracking down on my Macross purchasing (we're saving for a house), so I'm not sure that I'll be able to buy the new Stealth, LV2, or VF-0S valks. This means that I won't have the sticker sheets from those valks to use when creating decals and repro stickers. I have also had vintage Alpha and Cyclone repro stickers on my to-do list for a very long time and would like to start work on them. What I need are either original sticker sheets or really good scans of the sheets to work with in order to make the sets. I am willing to offer free stickers and/or decals from my extensive catalog in return. Custom design work is a possibility as well. Original sheets sent to me will be scanned and returned to you right away. PM me if you can help with any of the following sheets: - Stealth Valk and Stealth FAST Pack - No longer needed - VF-0S - No longer needed - Low Vis v2 (has this been released yet?) - Low Vis v2 GBP (again, released yet?) - Alpha (Red, Green, and Blue) - Cyclone I'm a neophyte when it comes to Legioss and Mospeada, so I am not sure how many scales and manufacturers of Alphas and Cyclones exist. I'd like to make stickers and decals for the scale and manufacturer of each that is the most common (for which repro stickers/decals are most in need).
22. I have a 1/55 placement guide in PDF format on my website. Here's a direct link to the file: 1/55 Application Guide
23. Wow. I just saw this topic (haven't been on MW much in the past few weeks). It makes me happy to know that my work is useful and appreciated. A lot of labor and TLC goes into each set that I make. I actually make very little on each set I sell--it's more about connecting with fellow Macross fans and helping them out. I'm glad to hear that the custom markings worked out so well for you, Jason. That blue valk is awesome! For those who are wondering, I will be creating stealth and LV2 sets in the near future. Updates will be posted in the toys forum.
24. Purchase instructions can be found here: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=18090 If you need to see a particular area of a sheet close-up, let me know.
