  1. I'd love one of each, but I think my wallet might spontaneously burst into flames if I even thought about getting that monster.

What's up with the "virgins" thing, anyway? Are we talking like a 'days or yore' beautiful young women all stuck in a harem with nothing better to do than take turns bathing each other in a huge elaborate gilded pool ("welcome to the castle Anthrax!")? Or are we talking pimply-faced, greasy, pasty, living at home, never-even-talked-to-a-woman-without-giving-credit-card-numbers kind of virgins you find at all the sci fi shows? I might have to change my vote depending on the answer.  :D

    Why, the first, naturally. :)

why would anyone want just one?

Well, I was thinking if someone had a favorite that was more important to them than any other (like UN Spacy's monster), they'd vote for it. I've always been partial to the Spartan. Not sure why. But I'd like to see 'em all eventually.

  2. My apologies if a similar destroid topic has been brought up before or if everyone is totally sick of the endless "What if Yamato did such and such" polls.

I didn't see anything exactly like this upon searching, so I figured I'd post it.

  3. Even I don't know what's next for the 1/48 line after the VF-1J Hikaru in November.

However, my completely unofficial guess would be Max & Millia VF-1J. I guess another possibility would be a DYRL Max VF-1S.

Personally, I'd like to see some more non-canon color schemes, like some of the ones that have appeared in Model Graphix magazine.

I wholeheartedly agree on both the M/M and non-canon paint scheme issues.

  4. I still luv the 1/60 line. The weight, the die-cast, the class. My 1/60 collection ain't complete, yet. Just no moneys yet for the VT, VE, 1D, and the M&Ms.  But they're all pencilled in my x'mas budget. ^_^

I got the 1/48 Hikaru-1A and am planning to get the whole line.  It looks good and all, but it just lacks die-cast content of the 1/60 and the plastic seems a little brittle-cheap.  It's fairly lightweight. For that, imho, the price of the 1/48 is just not good enough for me to be rushing to get it, as opposed to when the 1/60's made it's appearances.

Wish Yamato can sell 1/48 at the $80-$90 range instead of the current $140 range.

    --treatment--

I completely know where you're coming from, but I got over the lack of die-cast when I was able to swoosh my beautifully sculpted 1/48 VF-1 without anything falling off. ;)

  5. My question is this... Can the 48 really make you hate your 60's?

I wouldn't go that far. The 1/60 VF-1 line is great, but not perfect. The same could be said for the 1/48 line, but once I broke out a 1/48 from it's box...I was a changed man. When they announced the 1/48 I had a hard time being excited. I felt like I'd potentially invested my money in an inferior product and I felt like my well-loved 1/60 line was coming to an abrupt end. I still think the 1/60s are cool, and I display them proudly. But if they release every single one in 1/48...chances are I'll get those too and prefer them to the 1/60 versions. I no longer feel "had," but if I had it to do over again, I might not have bought so many 1/60s.

  6. My second low-vis arrived in the mail yesterday.

I really dig that gummi pilot. He's awesome lookin'.

I'm hoping to customize the Valk a bit.

  7. I also think a 1/48 VF-1D is unlikey as it would require resculpting of several parts and color variations are not possible to help recover costs.

Unless they take a page out of Hasegawa's book and make the Max/Millia "Virgin Road" VF-1D.

I'd be one of the 5 people to buy that one! ;)

And they could do an Angel Birds VF-1D. I don't know that we've ever seen one before, but most flight demonstration teams that have single seat aircraft have a two-seater variant around for liason missions.

  8. I for one hope they keep releasing them...

If they keep cranking out 1/48 Valks, I think it would be a mistake not to (unless they make bundling them with the Valk like the 1J Hikaru a trend).

  9. I hope they continue making the FP.

Me too, but do you think they'll continue to produce it as is? What are the chances of releasing the TV fast packs on their own? If they make a 1/48 Max/Millia the blue/red fast packs will probably be bundled. I doubt there would be a demand for those as a seperate release. But everybody seems to want the Hikaru packs for their low-vis.

  10. But with the Bandai and Yamato toys, opening the box doesn't destroy it in any way. It's not like you can't just stick it back in the box. These aren't blister cards where you have to rip it apart to get the toy out.

But you can't give it back it's virginity just by putting it back in the box. ;)

  11. I really want 1/60 scale M-Plus (and VF-X!) Valkyries. 1/72 is ok to keep me happy until then. 1/48 is just too large given the size of these things in proportion with the VF-1.

I don't see going from 1/72 to 1/60 as a significant enough jump in scale to necessitate another line of Macross Plus Valks. I see the attraction of keeping new products in the same scale as previously released successes, but I wouldn't be surprised (if they decided not to attempt a 1/48) if they did something in a new scale altogether.

  12. Does Yamato make 1/48 with custom wing number?

The sticker sheet for the initial release of the 1/48 VF-1A Hikaru and VF-1S Roy does have stickers for 012 (Kakizaki).

In case you didn't know, in the Macross TV series, Kakizaki's VF-1A was much like the standard cannon fodder, but with more white/light gray.

The DYRL Kakizaki paint scheme is the same of the others, but it's green instead of red, blue, or yellow.

Oh, and the 1/48 fast packs also have the green skull emblem for the side of the engine/missle launcher.

  13. My first Valks were the Macross Plus (1/72) from Yamato. When I saw the VF-1 (1/60) preview pics, I about lost my mind. I went mad for the 1/60 line. When I heard about the 1/48 VF-1A, it was sort of a bittersweet thing for me. When it started to become apparent that they were making more and more 1/48 Valks I felt, like a lot of people, that I'd wasted my time and money on an inferior line. I got over that. I still enjoy the 1/60, and my addiction to it probably went a long way to funding the development of the 1/48. ;) Now that I've picked up a few 1/48, I'm hooked...again. After Yamato releases a 1/48 VE-1 and announces a 1/32 VF-1A Hikaru, I'm getting a second mortgage on the house.
