  1. I really like the Low Visibility scheme. It looks much more realistic when you compare it to the other 3 1/48s and I'm starting to dislike the other 1/48s plain white color. Those white 1/48s just are not very pleasing suddenly...

Not me, man. The low-vis is cool, but I gotta catch 'em all! I still dig the more colorful schemes.

  2. hi i'm new to this forum...hailing from Singapore.

    i just got my low-viz recently...it's retailing at about S$175-190 here..which is about US100-110?

    anyway...it was my first 1/48..and yes..nuffsaid.

i immediately dug out my Robotech Battlepod and Officer's Battlepod from the Playmate's exo-squad line to pose with the low-viz..i'm not too sure about the scale..seems right to me..or maybe the pod could be a bit bigger?

anyone else here has done the same? or has some pics to show?

if i could lay my hands on 1 or 2 more battlepods (ok ok...REGULTS)..could do up an urban diorama..

Not to burst your bubble, but those Matchbox toys might be better suited attacking your 1/60 Valks, if you have any. They were designed for 3 3/4" (Zentradi) figures, and even then they probably aren't to scale. They're a bit small for the 1/48.

  3. if they didn't make Kakizaki's in 1/60 what makes you so sure they'll make it in the 1/48 scale?

I never claimed to be "sure." I'm no Sith Lord, after all. Obviously it wouldn't be hard to do though, and the demand seems to be there. I think the fact that they missed him in the 1/60 line makes it more likely that we'll see it in 1/48.

I didn't know that there was a difference between the DYRL VF-1A CF and the TV version.

That detail has escaped my notice as well, though I suspect it has something to do with the optic sensor. Can anyone shed any light on the issue?

  4. Are they gonna make a connon fodder? It wouln'd be too hard to do, so they just gotta! No Macross Line or collection is complete without CFs of the A type!

I couldn't say for sure, I just put the Valks I thought had the best chance of getting made anytime soon on the list. If the enthusiasm for the 1/48 line stays at the level it is, I'm sure we'll see the "brown bull's-eye" at some point. I'm kinda surprised the Max VF-1S is gettin' no love to speak of.

  6. Both versions of the Hikaru VF-1J seem to be available (with or without the fast packs) at the following sites (and probably more):

    Valkyrie Exchange

    Twin Moons Anime

    Blasto Toys

There are fast packs currently available that are sold individually. They contain both the standard Super and Strike types. The "TV type" fast packs only seem to come with the new 1/48 VF-1J, and I'm not sure what the differences will be between those and the ones already released.

    Hope that helps.

  7. It's too bad they didn't make a limited edition FAST Pack to go along with the Low Viz though.  I don't like how the current FAST Packs looks on the Low Viz.

I wouldn't rule it out in the future. Yamato will want to take advantage of the mold they spent beaucoup bucks on. Of course, they might pull a fast one and re-release the low-vis WITH low-vis fast packs at some point. Naturally though, I'm just speculating.

  8. I was initially gonna pass, but I ended up buying one and keeping it boxed. I'd probably get another if I could still find it for under $140. I'm just now realizing the vast custom/decal potential for the low vis.

  9. From statistics given by someone here, Yamato has grossed close to a million US dollars from their Valkyrie line alone. Don't tell me that they don't have the money to make a thousand dollar mold of the Hummer. It should be a piece of cake to the experienced designers, at Yamato... Or am I only looking at the little picture in the grand scheme of things?

I don't think anyone said they wouldn't spend money on new molds...it just wouldn't be beneficial to create a new mold for limited release items.

  10. I really wanted a decal of the pointy-teeth mouth that the A-10 tankbusters have to put on the nose of my 1/48. And those red roses insignias would look great on the wings.

Not to undermine Takatoys, but you can get a ton of water transfer decals for 1/48 model aircraft. Here are a couple of good sources:

    Squadron Online Hobby Shop

    Twobobs Aviation Graphics

Rather than an A-10 sharkmouth though (as it probably wouldn't look quite the same on a VF-1), I think the one included in this F/A-18 sheet might look killer on a low vis Valk:

  11. I'm tired of seein the same ol' VF-1's.

Well, once they've released the VF-1J GPB armor in 1/48, they're gonna release a super-duper 1/32 VF-1A Hikaru (DYRL colors, of course). And then repeat the process until the 1/32 VE-1. Then we'll see a 1/24 uber-super-duper VF-1A Hikaru (DYRL)...then Yamato will buy Harmony Gold, Warner Brothers, and Bank One and we'll all become indentured crew members on the set of the Macross movie.

  12. Hey, what about a VF-1D?

I thought about putting that, a VT-1, and a VE-1...but I wanted to limit the poll to the most likely candidates. I think the VF-1D might give them design trouble (especially with the clamshell heat shield), and the VT-1/VE-1 might be too much to ask. I think it's much more likely that they'll release various versions of the existing molds.

  13. I'm becoming increasingly convinced that Yamato will milk the 1/48 line as much as it can. Wishful thinking? Maybe. But we shall see.

Which of the above would you be most likely to buy if it were released as a 1/48?

  14. I wouldn't put much past Yamato at this point. When I wished for a 1/60 Max and Milia, people said it wouldn't happen because of licensing issues...and we know how that turned out.

The Hikaru VF-1S was a surprise to me in 1/48, but a welcome one. I imagine that if the 1/48s keep selling as well as they seem to be that Yamato will make everything they've had in 1/60 in 1/48. What would be great is if they managed to do some GPB armor as well. An accurate VF-1D in 1/48 seems like it might be a longshot, but I didn't expect to see one at all in 1/60 either.

  15. I've already got two Roy 1Ss (one open, one sealed). I'm gonna hang on to the open one and give the sealed one to a buddy of mine for Christmas. He's not into Macross as much as I am, but he thinks it's cool and he's loved the 1/60 I've given him. He won't know the difference, so I don't feel bad about it, and I get an improved Roy. If I didn't like Roy's Valk more than the Hikaru 1S, I might not worry about it, but I do, so I'm a sucker.
