Only if you still have the box.  They wouldn't send me crap.

They sent me a replacement that was lost by USPS somewhere in New York. I got them to send another package and this time it came through but it was the wrong part 😔

At this point I'm going to try to make my own from 5mm steel rod.

I replaced the plastic window on two and put some paint on corners and edges. That helps the good condition appearance.

What do you use to replace the plastic windows?

I for one hope they do something about the number, 102 was already used for the VF-1D, so hopefully this is just a prototype mistake...

It's marked 102 in the movie (blink and you'll miss it during Saturn chase)... I wonder where the 607 came from for the Hasegawa art.

Thanks! So much missing though. The yellowing I could live with, but I doubt I can re-source the armor and fast pack. At least not cheaply. :(

    Thanks for pointing that out!

I kinda agree regarding restoration. I'm just not sure I'm the one to do it yet. ;)

They also added that black paint around the cockpit; originally the nose wasn't painted.

I also think this could clean up pretty well. The broken bits don't appear to be anything unique to the VT-1, so you could likely source some Jetfire parts as replacements.
Even without the armor the Super Ostrich is my fave and deserves some love.

That's actually an easy fix.  Use Plastic Cement (Tenax, Ambroid, Tamyia, the stuff used to bond PVC pipes from a hardware store, etc... anything that will melt ABS, Acrylic, PVC and the like - a small drop is all you need.  NEVER USE CA glue; it does not work in these applications and looks ugly as all hell afterwards) to bond the broken peg back on the stand arm's base; once cured, carefully drill a hole through the peg into the knuckle, longitudinally, to add a pin to reinforce the whole thing.  If done properly, you'll hardly be able to tell it snapped at all, and it will be stronger than it ever was.

Unfortunately I tried a couple types of solvent (Plastruct Plastic Weld, Weld-On #4) and it didn't work. I think maybe the piece is maybe some kind of nylon? And I actually did try running a nail through the length of my 3D-printed part and it still bent. Bananas, huh?

    You guys have pictures?

Here's mine. They should have had the peg go up into the bottom of the cradle rather than the back end there.

I tried 3D printing up a replacement part but the weight of the fighter bent the resin peg down after only a few hours...

  7. All right, crew, let me hear from your experiences - I've only recently started picking up some of the Takatoku / Bandai 1/55s from the 80s (I've had some of the 200X reissues since they came out) and I find myself stressed out about how fragile they might be these days. For example, I picked up the Strike VF-1S, which I'd love to display out of the box, but the plastic on the armor pieces seems so brittle I'm not sure it'll flex the way it's intended to to fit on the arms, etc. Interestingly, the Takatoku Super VF-1S armor appears to be more flexible.

What's the consensus? Is it safe to gently transform and put on the armor? Or is the 40 year old plastic going to break my heart?

  8. With this talk of the Orguss Valkyrie I started thinking about what if Takatoku made armored parts for their 1/40 back in the day. So I cooked up a set! I tried to keep the same Takatoku aesthetic. Ideally I'd have a VF-1A head on there but I don't have a chunky monkey 1A on hand as reference. Gerwalk and flyer mode are so goofy-looking with that big booster I kind of love it.

It may be my unfamiliarity with Orguss in general...but the Takatoku still seems to hold its own against the modern toys....at least alot better than the Takatoku 1/55 VF-1 does against the most recent VF-1 releases...

The Takatoku may not have all the same articulation as the newer Orguss toys but it's a dang fine toy with nice clicky joints and plenty of style. I agree it's still a contender even with the more modern versions.

I am VERY tempted to pull the trigger on this one but I can't justify the price tag for a tiny 17 cm tall figure. I'm going back and forth on this one.

If it's still available tomorrow, I'm afraid I may cave in and get it. It looks great.

Yeah, I also balked at the price, which is why I didn't pre-order, but I had my old Takatoku one out and the nostalgia came at me strong so I caved.
