The model box art tribute is great, but I'd have loved to have seen a tribute to the old Takatoku gift set.

Got my TREAD yesterday. It really is fantastic, except for two bits which have already been mentioned: the missile bays doors don't open far enough, and the head articulation is just bizarre. The head is on a ball joint, it's just... pointing the wrong way. I don't really understand the reasoning there. But overall this TREAD easily takes the top spot.

I like the shoulder cannons.

Hey crew, up for offer is a very nice Takatoku 1/3000 SDF-1, asking $550 + shipping.

No signs of any yellowing, no damage of any kind. Got all the great missile firing mechanisms that were removed for the US release. Unused sticker sheets, instructions, miniature planes and missiles on sprues, styrofoam in good shape. All factory-applied stickers appear to be properly in place. Packaging is missing the outer box top. You can see the nice windowed top is there, and the rear with the beautiful artwork.

Those are optional hard points you can use instead of the cannons on the arm. So you can do an Operation Bullseye-type setup with reaction missiles. Or I suppose the smaller TV style missiles as well.

So the TREAD boom arm can be extended and retracted without replacement? Looks like maybe it all folds up inside somehow? That's pretty cool.

Just a couple quick bits of info:

* The resin used is an ABS-like, which I've found to be good for this kind of project.

* The parts in the photos and video Christopher posted above are just as they came off the printer, with no cleanup. I've got to where I hate sanding bits so I've designed this set to require as little prep as possible.
