I have both Tamiya and Gunze H-xx water based acrylic. Can I mix them ? It is ok to use the Tamiya thinner for the Gunze H-xx paint ? Penguin Posted October 17, 2006 Share Posted October 17, 2006 While I usually try to use the same manufacturer when I mix paints, I have successfully mixed Tamiya and Gunze acrylics in the past. Noyhauser Posted October 17, 2006 Share Posted October 17, 2006 I would say no. I find most company's paint formulations are pretty specific for their own products... Because, once you mix them, there are two types of paint, and using either thinner will not be good, as Noyhauser said. So I guess mixing these two types of paint will works (as Penguin has experienced) but maybe results in paint with poorer performance.
