The biggest cue for CGI in these pictures are the textures on the bases. That and they are too perfetctly reflective. Mapping some scratches and scuffs and toning down the gloss would help imensely.

i was 60% sure of cgi because i could see the reflecion of the model on the base yet i couldn't tell if any objects from the room could be seen.

I will be adding scratches and dents soon , maybe then it will be perfect ......... one day.

Cobywan - I remeber , that you had access to a cnc machine some time ago , is this still the case ? These are very detailed surface models that could be used to cut a cheap mould ?

Yeah, it was the reflections that did it for me too. Tone down the reflections on the shiny parts and add some subtle imperfections and things will look much better.
