I have a VF-11B for sale, USD $73, shipping not included. The figure itself is in excellent condition (the hip joints are intact!). The sticker sheets are intact and unusued, but the canopy shields have been colored with black marker and one has been cut out.

During the end credits, it mentions the robot from "Laputa". Where was it featured?

(And before anyone points out that the Master File books aren't necessarily part of the "official setting," I'd like to say that I showed the pic to Tenjin-san... so if it wasn't official before, it probably is now. )
It would probably be more official if you had showed it to the Holy Floating Head himself

Is it just me or does the Mayan birdman/protoculture genesis theory from Macross Zero sound a lot like the ancient astronaut theory pitched in the history channel's shows Ancient Aliens and In Search of Aliens?
Don't get me wrong, I don't subscribe to it. It's just scifi to me at this point. The parallelism is just interesting.
It's an old theory, popularized in the late '60s by Erich von Daniken's book Chariots of the Gods, and as others have pointed out, has been used in other anime besides Macross Zero.

FYI, the Kickstarter is now live, but all the levels with a one-of-a-kind goodie have already been taken

I was the principal set designer for the Conn-Pod interiors.
These are all my babies... (and a wonderful group of draftsman, and hundreds of other carpenters and scenic artist...)
I gave a presentation of my work in Stuttgart.
Was it a single cockpit set that was redressed for different Jaegers (I assume this was the case)? Also, did you sneak in any Macross design references, like you did with "Splice"?

Im too late to the party. It says Macross Plus blu ray is out of print on CD Japan and Amazon Japan.

So, it looks like DYRL LE is currently on sale and can be had for $130 US so I jumped on this:
But now I'm worried. Is this a reputable retailer? I know, I know... I should've done more research. I'm hoping it's not a "too good to be true" thing with it ending up to be some bootleg. :|
Yes, they are reputable. I've ordered from them several times, including the DYRL LE last year.

Original God Phoenix and costumes, please.
Asian Jun...that's hot.
Just don't make the live action in the same way as Guyver: The Bio-Boosted Armor. Ugh. More CGI please. Leave the rubber suits to Gojira/Godzilla.
You don't want to see her, http://blog-imgs-45-origin.fc2.com/c/h/i/chitekizaisan/20110917-69.jpg, in rubber?

I just watched the 1 hour 10 minute Flashback 1984 special on the DYRL Blu-ray.
It has a lot of the same footage...some new stuff (such as the construction of the 1/1 VF-25F).
But it didn't have any of the 30th anniversary event tour.
Is The Men Who Made Macross and Flashback 1984 supposed to be the same thing?
I always had the impression before the Blu-ray release that the TV special was a cut-down version of what would be in "Flashback 1984".

Did he actually ever get it on with anyone or was he a virgin the whole show?
I remember an episode from the second season that was essentially a clip show, where characters from the first season were there to wish Mac a "Happy Birthday" or something. He sees Robin Curtis' character, who's pregnant and says to him "This is your fault!" before they cut to commercial. It turned out she meant that because he saved her life, she was able to meet some guy, get hitched, and have his baby, but based on the clip of them from the first season and Mac's initial reaction to her accusation, there was some off-screen hanky-panky implied.

According to THIS (which is not really that new but I just read it):
http://www.macross30...journal/12.html
...the documentary that aired was made up of footage filmed for the special 70-minute documentary that will be included in the Blu-Ray.
The red text is the chapter list. Looking at all that, it is clear that we are in for an information overload. Looking forward to it!
By the way, the name of the documentary is "Flashback 1984".
Nice, one of the chapters is "Artland and Noboru Ishiguro". I'm glad they had enough time to include something devoted to him

I don't know what it is, but I can't seem to get myself to open up the LE box set. I've been staring at it for the past few days.... I have a feeling the same thing will happen with the DYRL? LE box set.
That's stupid, open the damn box already! The plastic flap is on the left side of the box in case you can't find it....
"WHAT'S IN THE BOX?!!!"

New trailer:

I'm confused how do they control the Hulk? It's he the uncontrollable anger of Bruce Banner released? How He is he able to act as part of a team?
It does look like at one point they lose control of him (the one shot of Black Widow running away from the Hulk).

UK Trailer:
And BTW, to avoid any confusion with a certain TV series, the UK-title for the movie is Avengers Assemble. Those of you in the UK should be aware of that.
Those looking for HD:
On the flip side of that, I wonder if there were any worries about the movie being called just "The Avengers" getting associated with the Ralph Fiennes/Uma Thurman movie?

I sort-of learned about Macross first during the summer of '84, when my family's boarder came back from Hong Kong and mentioned he gave his old landlord's kid a cool-looking toy jet plane that could transform into a robot. Then, in December of that year, I was looking around in the toy section of a department store and saw a bunch of imported Japanese model kits, including ARII Macross kits. Over time, I bought a few of those Macross kits, but didn't know anything about the story until 1986 when I read the same issue of Starlog that taksraven mentioned.

Here are some recommendations from a poster on another forum I frequent: http://forum.blu-ray.com/home-theater-general-discussion/140238-official-laserdisc-thread-94.html#post5157169. They're all Pioneer models. Since they haven't made LD players in years, you would have to find one in second-hand stores or on eBay.

The Doctor Who Thread
in Anime or Science Fiction
Posted
FWIW, I stopped watching it about five minutes into its fourth episode, when I realized I was watching it because it was a Doctor Who spinoff and not because I found it captivating. Mind you, this show is aimed at older teens and young adults, so I'm not the target audience.
