  1. I loved the ARC-170 design. It was a beefy assault craft, a great balance to the light Jedi Interceptors. Sure the Y-wing is iconic, but on the ARC-170, you see where the firepower is coming from. The giant cannons on the wings, the mega engine intakes, and the potential for amazing nose art. Not to mention the fact that is is following the traditional aircraft design of fuselage and wings.

If you look at the Y-wing, all you see are 2 little laser blasters on the front, and the turret on the top. I doesn't even look heavily armed, just armored.

When I saw the ARC-170, my thought immediately went to the GTF Hercules assault fighter from Descent: Freespace

  2. Was that a fan video? Cause wow, that was bad. Same cinematography as a typical porn. Close up of chicks face, then zoom to the action. back the the face, back to the action, lots of static angles.

Seriously, if they would have used the in-game cinematics, it would have been tons better by sheer virtue of the game, despite the awful music.

  3. Ignore that last post, I found some suitable replacements at Home Depot. As it turns out, the holes for the cross bar fit exactly for a 3/16" threaded rod to thread into with minimal resistance. This way, I was able to make a priming handle that only protrudes from one side.

Also, I finished painting my first steam punk-esq nerf gun. I'm pretty happy with the result.

  4. I spent hours with Galaga. you know what comes after wave 99? Wave 1. After that, I put the game down and never touched it again.

As for Tech I hate, I'm going to throw out Refrigerant 410a (R-410a), also known as Puron. It is the replacement to R-22 (Freon) as mandated by the US government. It was supposed to be safe for the environment, and more efficient at transferring heat out of the home.

In reality, it is just as bad for the environment if not worse than R-22, it is only marginally more efficient at heat transfer, and on top of that, it can self-ignite at higher pressures, causing an explosion in your house. Not a fire-explosion, but a high pressure gas rupturing through the copper lines in your walls will still cause moderate property damage.

I'm also going to rail against Arc-Fault circuit breakers. Again, they are required by the National Electric Code to be installed in every home, and every circuit that powers a living area must use one. That the normal breakers cost about $7.00, and the Arc-Fault breakers cost $35.00 is not even my real problem with them. My problem is that they are mandated for use, but there are NO recorded instances of an Arc-Fault stopping a house fire, much less saving a life.

This is what happens when the manufactures are involved in the law-making process.

  5. I was hoping that Nolan's Batman movies wouldn't fall into the Burton formula. 2 villain per film waters down what could be magic with a single villain. Even in the Dark Knight, it felt to me that Two-Face was shoehorned in. Especially since he was killed off within 15 min of being a bad guy.

  6. Just picked up War for Cybertron Optimus Prime, and boy am I glad I did!

The transformations is one of the most complicated of any transformer I've ever owned.

The bot mode and alt mode are spot on to the videogame.

I love the difference between the bot mode's hard angles and small parts to the alt mode's smooth lines and large panels.
