Now that I'm actually looking at these, I don't see what's so bad about them. I mean, yeah, the fighter mode is a bit chunky, and the revo joints are a bit of an eyesore, but I still think they pulled it off rather nicely. However, this is coming from a die-hard Transformers fan, so I'm used to things being a little out of proportion in sacrifice for one mode or the other.
I'm just glad these will be affordable. One thing I've always hated about Macross (and one reason I haven't really got into it as much as Transformers and Zoids:) The merch is TOO EXPENSIVE! I mean, I'm sorry, but spending hundreds of dollars on a toy is not something I can't do, especially when there are many way more important things I need to focus my funds on.
So, nodding to a previous post, I am a casual Macross fan, and I do like the look of these. I will definitely try to pick one up.

Oh it's just some irrelevent creature from some tv show or something called Fronting, or Fran's Tears. Not really important.
Pete
Hahahaha, okay! (Having not watched Frontier, I would not have known the critter)
Say, what would one pay for a Revoltech VF-1S, anyway? (Or perhaps a Hikaru VF-1J or a Regult?)
-
A Vajra, Q-rau, Q-rea, Glaug would be great!
'scuse the noob, but what's a vajra?
-
This, in theory, is an excellent idea for those who want a super-poseable perfect transformation Valk and don't want to spend $200 + on a yamato (^^myself) However, that fighter mode seems a bit off. I'm going to get a regular Revo VF-1S before I make any judgements, though.
I think a Revoltech Zentradi Queadluun-Rau would be badass. \w/

ohhh, I'm sorry...those little valkyries weren't Takatoku. They are vintage, though...there are pictures of the Convertors release here:
http://www.toyarchive.com/Convertors/Maladroids.html
and here:
http://www.toyarchive.com/Macross/Macross3InchVFFakes.html
I saw a picture once where the valkyrie actually had tail-wings..or at least, I thought so. Anybody have any info?

Well you can check Graham's review on the main site (Toy's section) but basically the legs have to be detached and re-attached (therefore not perfect transform) and there are some pieces on the arm you have to remove to mount the gunpod in fighter mode.
I'm not to sure about the 1/144, but those are really old? I wouldn't recommend getting them unless you are a completist. The Toynami 1/100 line is much better, for all its faults.
Hmm...alright.
And yes, they are old, circa 80s. I suppose I am a bit of a completist...but it's more the fact that I can display them with my Convertors figures. I hear they were knocked off a lot...

A couple more questions:
So the 1st series of Yamato VFs are not perfect transformation? I've never seen any pics of them to be able to tell...Could somebody give me details as to how the transformation is imperfect? (removeable hands/head?)
Also, I see these (roughly) 1/144 scale Takatoku Valkyries floating around ebay every so often...could somebody give me some info on these and about what I can expect to pay for one?
-
I don't know much about this series, other than the general plot and mecha & whatnot. I'd like to watch it, but I don't believe the media exists. =/
Who knows somethin' about it? lol

I couldn't afford Macross stuff even back when the economy was good!

Quick Question: What's the absolute lowest price for a WAVE SDF-1? I want one, but I need to know how much money I should save.
-
Great, thanks guys! I'm wondering, though...where might one acquire such a figure? See, I own the Matchbox mini-SDF-1, but the little bugger doesn't transform! Also, I most DEFINITELY don't have the money to spend on a WAVE version.

It seems like a really interesting little figure, but is it very rare? How big is it? Is it made of plastic or diecast?
-
Well, Macross-wise, I'd probably go with the Monster MAC-II and blow some stuff up for about 5 minutes....until I get bored and jump in a VF-1A
However, if I had to pilot a non-macross mech, I'd either go with Gundam Deathscythe from Endless Waltz, or the Ovelon Gazette from that Dorvack anime. A variable helicopter seems like a cool idea
-
mugh. I was hoping to get it complete w/ planes and whatnot. If I didn't want them, I'd go for the Matchbox version, which I believe is significantly cheaper. (I may not have much of a choice.) I wouldn't mind going for the WAVE SDF-1, if it were actually worth $120. =/

It can be loose, I don't care, just as long as it's complete (or includes the sensor array.) Either way's fine. I have some transformers I could perhaps trade for one--
G1 Commemorative Edition Jazz- complete w/ box
G1 Commemorative Edition Dirge- complete w/ box
Energon Unicron- missing mini-con and a few small missiles
RID Ruination- complete

you have a picture of what your talking about? How about taking a picture of your bridge? That might help a bit. But if it's the antenna thingy, then that's gonna really be hard to find. Unless you find a junker and even then, those most likely will have the antenna thing broken off too. I don't think you can lose this piece unless it gets broken off or the screw on the head/bridge area is really loose. Good luck though.
Well, the antennae and radar are made out of a very rubbery plastic, so it really just popped off, not really broke. You might be thinking of the large SDF-1 replica. I'm talking about the one that doesn't transform (unfortunately.) However, I will attempt to photograph the box, and the bridge where there is a hole that that radar tower should be. And you're probably right, it's very unlikely that I'll find that piece anywhere. *sigh* I knew I should have just glued those pieces on...
-
Okay, so I recently bought the 6-inch Matchbox SDF-1 Replica, MIB and complete, for $60. And I LOST A PIECE!!!! The radar tower that goes right behind the head--er, bridge. I have no idea where it fell off, and it's a very small piece so I probably will never see it again. I will pay TOP DOLLAR for a replacement, as this is the only actual SDF-1 figure I have. I didn't spend $60 on it for nothing. Please help.

Hey man! I like your stuff, I've tried writing some myself but haven't found great software to use on my computer with my keyboard. Is there any free stuff you recommend?
Well, I use FLStudio. It's wonderful software, but you'll have to pay out of the nasal passages to get it legally. You can download the demo of it at flstudio.com, but you can't save anything. Email me and I can help you acquire the full version, perhaps. phanaeusvindex@aol.com
Btw, I added you, mysterryno.

well, I've got an Ace now. Zero is still rediculously expensive, and Bolt and Bentwing are apparently nonexistent. A bentwing showed up, but somebody bought it RIGHT as I was about to. It had only been on ebay for like 2 hours. >=/ We hates evilbay, precious.
I don't suppose there are any other online stores or anything I could check? 3:

I have a band profile on myspace, where I've posted three of my songs.

The one titled "spacefold" uses the actual spacefold sound effect from SDF-Macross, if you're familiar with it. I figured it was a fanwork, but I could be wrong. I'd just like to know what you think.
-
aaah, I see...but...then why is he...blue??? He should be brown/dark green...
-
I can't believe there isn't a SINGLE Bolt, Bentwing, or Ace on Ebay. And the only Zero they have that's a reasonable price has the chrome completely worn away on the prop. I'd give my soul for a Bolt right about now...although I think they should have also made a P51 Mustang gobot. that would have been schweet.

er...*small voice*
I can has Bentwing and Bolt? 3:

By the way, is there a release date on these things yet?
